    1. Can’t, regrettably. He has it as his birthright, coming from a Canadian parent regardless of where he was actually born, so there are no grounds that allow that. Interestingly, in researching this, I learned that the UK doesn’t have birthright citizenship–it comes via bloodline–so they can revoke the citizenship of their nationals that hold citizenship in another country (multiple citizenship is allowed), but cannot if it’s the only citizenship they hold (the relevant UK law does not allow creating a stateless person).

Per the article, I think Scheer has it right: do the absolute minimum required by law. Neither a jot nor tittle more. And if the people holding him should somehow manage to “misplace” his life-force, well, I’m sure a sternly-worded letter concerning their “negligence” would be appropriate.

  1. If he’s in a Kurdish prison, howbe we review his case in detail and get back to him with a verdict in….oh, I dunno….80 years or so?

  2. We had better get used to the idea that Jack Letts AND his wife and kid will be in Canada, probably before year’s end. He is covered by the Great Big Blessed F***ing Charter, and we have no laws to prevent him from coming here. We can thank PET and the SCC for making sure of that.

And IF our beloved federal government is stupid enough to prosecute him, watch the high priced lawyers line up at the trough to defend him. Of course Canadian law will be adhered to, and there is undoubtedly no evidence against Letts that would stand up in a Canadian Court.

And IF Andrew Scheer (also spelled Sheer,Shere, Shear) should form the next government, they can’t do a damned thing to prevent Letts from coming to Canada, either. Thank allah we in Canada are above vigilantism.

    1. The Kurds presumably thought he would be worth a few bucks to his family and were happy to commute his sentence to time served for the right price, assuming that the UK would have to take him in.

Unfortunately for them, Britain has moves to play in this sort of game too.

    2. @Osu Kin
Throw Jack off a tall building.
Then he can be referred to as Jack Splat.

  3. Trudeau said “a Canadian is a Canadian is a Canadian”. How does one become a Canadian? By showing up. If a Syrian showing up in Canada makes him a Canadian, A Canadian showing up in Syria makes him Syrian. The Syrians can do whatever they want with a fellow Syrian, and it’s none of our business.

  4. The protection offered to an individual by a sovereign is a privilege offered at the discretion of the sovereign, not a right.

The problem of stateless refugees fleeing persecution was solved after the war with the restoration of the Jewish state. Since then, almost all “refugees” have been insurgents defeated in a civil war who didn’t have the guts to die with their boots on.

That’s all Jack Letts is, a coward who, after he’d had his Arab slut three ways, decided he didn’t care to be the last to die for the Islamic State. Canada has no obligation to him whatsoever.

If the Kurds judge him more trouble than he’s worth, all they have to do is shoot him and dump him in a shallow grave. Nothing of value will be lost.

    1. Little Omar Khadr of Edmonton,Alberta.Maybe they can run the shopping center together. Call it “Omar and Jack’s Place”.

  5. Wait and see he’ll cop the 10 mil after the election when Trudeau
    “will have MORE FLEXIBILITY.”

    Sound familiar?

  6. It is truly reassuring that if Andrew Scheer were Prime Minister that the Conservative government would do the bare minimum in assisting Jack. How about a statement that a Conservative government would do SFA, or in polite language, diddly squat in assisting Jack out of the box he chose. Any other statement is an affront to Canadians.

  7. This falls under the category of, “we don’t need no”, isis a holes, we don’t need more welfare seekers, we don’t need more Canada haters. Stop all immigration, white, black, pink or green.

  8. If I thought for one second that he’d reap the harvest that he sowed, I’d say bring the little son-of-a-bitch back. But that would never happen in this pathetic Country. So, leave the arsehole where he is.

But we all know that he’s coming back. And the door will be opened by turdo la doo or scheer-the-steer….with the requisite “but we have no choice” protest.

    1. A more robust Canadian government could say: “Of course he can come back to Canada. As long as he realizes he’ll be charged and prosecuted for a list of serious offences – including treason – when he arrives”.

As if that would ever happen.

  9. Lost in all the noise is the despicable precedent of HM Government stripping British citizenship from someone entitled to it by birth.

I am no admirer of “Jihadi Jack” but he could have been repatriated to face a court in the UK for treason and other charges.

If he can have his birth citizenship stripped from him on the whim of a minister of the Crown, so can any other British citizen.

    1. They can. Their citizenship laws allow it in the case of multi-citizens. They do NOT have birthright citizenship.

  10. Don Morris is right , that waist of skin will be in Canada sooner than later . If our famous charter can be used to pay off khadr anything is possible. The SS Canada sunk many years ago .

  11. There will be no moves to bring him here until after the election. Once Trudeau is back in power with a minority government, propped up by either the NDP or Greens, he will claim that Canada has no choice according to the law and we must take him in. After that, naturally, will be the payment for his suffering in a Kurdish prison that Canada allowed to go on for so long.
