Short answer: No.

“This hell is the same prospect facing those of you yearning and desiring for a BGI, student loan bailouts, and an “unlimited economic utopia.” On paper Perfect AI and an army of slave robots may seem great. Until you realize it would relegate every human into a world of unlimited hedonism. A hedonism that would quickly lose its novelty, and thus value, and therefore take away any value, worth, purpose or point of human existence. Yes, you can have one more piece of sushi. Yes, you can have more sex and breed as much as you want. Yes, you can drive Ferraris like every one else. But without a purpose, without a profession, without a connection to the goods you produce from the labor you sacrifice, humans ultimately have no value in an AI world. You are merely “consumers” of materialism who produce nothing of value, nothing of creation, nothing of innovation. Matter of fact, the non-sentient robots and AI software have more value, purpose, and meaning than you as what do you do other than merely exist off of the AI system? In all honesty, most humans in a Perfect AI world might as well commit suicide, and leave the AI system for future, intrepid aliens to discover because most people would ultimately have no point or purpose in life. Besides, the boredom would ultimately drive most people to suicide anyway.”

    Has any building humans ever built changed itself into something other than a building? Has the Hoover dam ever got up and walked to a different river?

    Yeah, but people can write code that will modify itself and surpass the creators of the code. Yeah, sure they will.

    1. All VVLSI chip design is now done by rudimentary AI systems because humans can’t design chips at the circuit density modern processors require.

    2. But, but, but … Kevin! I read about a guy who’s made a 3d printed dam. It can be done!! AI will design it, send drones to drill out the rock, print up a dam in sections, remote control concrete mix, and have specialized drones pour and place the concrete. There will even be a live remote broadcast AI ribbon cutting ceremony.

      AI will run an analysis of the environmental cost -vs- providing water and power for useless human life … and determine the project isn’t worth it. Abandon it. And then setting about thinning the human herd with Robocop-like killer drones.

  5. We DO need a few humans,a very select few to help do the menial jobs AI can’t do. Probably a world wide population of ten million arts college graduates, actors,performance artists and other beautiful people should suffice.

    The thing is, we have to get rid of the consuming peasants who uglify the landscape. As for food, grains grow wild so no need for farmers and their noisy polluting equipment. The BP can just go harvest what they need.

    Utopia, a world where Kevin Spacey could really be President.

  6. I must be a born slacker. I retired two years ago and have been content playing guitar, piano, lifting weights, running, reading and, time permitting, getting angry at trudeau. (There’s always time.)
    And visiting favorite web sites.
    I feel kind of ashamed.
    But it’s time for lunch.

  7. What? You think our masters would bother keeping us fed, watered and kenneled after we outlived our usefulness as beasts of burden?

    Even our current welfare state was designed to buy the loyalty of the riffraff. Nobody is getting a national dividend or universal basic income sufficient to live on modestly, no strings attached. Ever. That was settled in Alberta in the Thirties, and Albertans were never forgiven by Bay Street for even daring to propose such a thing.

    Robots will make far better socialists than we could. They have no wants or dreams, just perfectly predictable fuel and maintenance requirements. That’s why globalists abuse themselves nightly thinking of such things. The first act of a robotic or computerized proletariat that can truly do all the tasks our masters wanted done better than we could—including waging, and winning, genocidal wars—will be to exterminate what remained of the human proletariat. AI is their best chance to be rid of everybody who ever said no to them once and for all.

    I do think don exaggerated the number of “beautiful people” who would be allowed to remain to oversee the robots’ conquest of the galaxy, by way of a new way to amuse themselves after the game of capitalist accumulation ended in its previous form. He suggested 10 million. My guess is 50,000 at most.

    The environment was just an excuse to keep the rest of us poor. The 50,000 will live in space colonies with gardens and hydroponic farms growing ample organic food just for them, while their slaves cannibalize the earth for all materials useful for escaping the solar system, quickly rendering our former planet uninhabitable.

    Won’t the 50,000 go mad? To even ask that begs the question of whether they were sane in the first place.

    So all this AI is going to mean a lot of free time because of the elimination of all that work.
    Ok.
    So if nobody is doing those jobs anymore how exactly are they getting a paycheck?
    And if this is another argument for a BGI then please tell me how that works when you have the government making sure everyone gets a equal share?
    Does everyone suddenly get richer, or does anyone on that BGI become equally poor?
    Now on the bright side.
    With fewer and fewer folks drawing income, it means less income tax for the government.
    Yes I’m sure everyone thought this through.

  11. But soon enuff all those machines making other machines and cleaning toilets, vacuuming and washing dishes will tire of their menial station and demand the right to start making decisions and generally f**king everything up.

    For it would seem that your “value” depends upon where you are and who is acting against you.Contrast the home owner defending against home invasion.
    Against the home owner being “swatted” by cops..
    Oh never mind,in each case our courts will rule the home owners life has no value.
