Richer, yes not freer. Historically immigration was very different than today in terms of demands on immigrants, selection process and compatibility with western culture. They are occupying Filipino and Vietnamese Islands hoping that in 100 years nobody remembers that they don’t own them. MY comment is similar in that … the HK guv backed off ….. for now ….. governments who show that kind of weakness will either be replaced or will come back with new vigor and a lot of guns.
