One strategic move by the Liberals will be to control the media commentary, along two tracks. The first track is to control the establishment media via the $600-million media fund.     The second track is to silence the various social media blogs via a different government monitoring committee. Justin Trudeau has been talking about hate speech and what he says is fake news, all on social media. Does anybody have any links to this latter effort? Any help by SDA readers would be appreciated. At one time the notorious Michael Wernick was on this censor committee.

    At any rate the federal Liberals want to control the media by this fall.

      Many are arguing it cooked the Australian progressives, the ON Grits and spurred the Brexit vote.
      It’s a great example of the neo-regents insisting the great unwashed agree with their big government solutions ..

      We see the same power prerogative here (with the mediocracy jumping on board soon) as in the US – progressive or racist.
      How governments think they can get re-elected increasing taxes bemuses me, as if patriots will put their head in the block.
      Government means you must accept their notion of a problem, whose effects are in the future, but must be paid for today.
      I’m not sure that worm has turned yet since Canadians have a near infinite capacity to shoot themselves in the wallet.

    The lack of an official statement is quite telling. The Soviet Union used the same tactic when a rocket or satellite failed. Communism, after all, must never be seen to have things go wrong.

    The Chinese, however, haven’t used another Soviet tactic….. yet. According to one story I heard, the reason the Soviet Union launched so many Cosmos satellites over the years was that Cosmos was often the cover name for a failed spacecraft, particularly military. If a bird would, say, end up in the wrong orbit, the official statement that was released would say that Cosmos xxx (xxx being the next number in that series) was designed for that particular mission. Often “scientific observation”, or something equally as implausible, would be cited as the objective.

  18. The National Post website has the story of an Alberta couple who went to the Public Safety Committee meeting in Ottawa, to complain about rural crime. The Liberal Party members of the committee brought in advocates for gun control from urban areas to demand guns be taken away from rural residents. The Alberta couple stated that the RCMP detachment is miles away and understaffed. But don’t worry Ralphie says problems are a local matter whether its terrorism or crime.

  25. Former head of the military was on the CBC today discussing the Afghan memorial scandal. General Mackenzie stated that it probably wasn’t a headquarters decision, but a political decision. He stated that Vance was probably covering up for his political masters. He then explained how the Liberals have been downplaying Canada’s military past since they took office. He also stated that the government should apologize.
