April 22, 2019: Reader Tips

We have one more day here in beautiful Idaho before heading home. Thanks once again (!!!) to the guest bloggers for helping fill these pages during my travels. We’ve had a super dog show trip with three new champions finished and two others well started.

SDA should be back in regular rotation by Thursday. Your thread is open for tips.

      1. While it never had a major catastrophic failure, it did have some glitches during its service life, such as the pogoing during the Apollo 6 test flight. Also, the first stage inboard engine cut out early during the launch of Apollo 13 and Apollo 12 was nearly cut short after being struck twice by lightning shortly after lift-off.

Keep in mind that the Saturn was designed specifically for Apollo. The Redstone and Atlas boosters used during Mercury, and the Titans used for Gemini were originally military missiles.

          1. I stand corrected. Still, I think it was the only time that an engine cut out early during a manned launch.

Unfortunately, problems like that occurred a few times with the space shuttle.

During the launch of Apollo 12, the instruments inside the Command Module malfunctioned after the lightning strikes and nobody on board knew what was going on. Pete Conrad came close to pulling the abort handle when a ground controller reminded the crew to reset a certain switch. Neither Conrad nor Dick Gordon knew what it was but Al Bean did because it was located on a panel on his side of the cabin.

      2. Using an uncanny bit of logic & basic engineering principles. Brilliant.!!

        Very Cool.

    1. Nah. All those ancient structures were built by aliens. Eric von Daniken told us so.

      1. Ottawa is going nuts.

To attract the Harry Potter generation, gov is looking for Gryffindors, Ravenclaws, Hufflepuffs and Slytherins to join the Hogwarts in a wizardry position. A starting salary of $57k for a “magical career.”

        This is not a joke.

Typical dishonest reply from diversity cultists.

Let me explain again: Women and members of minorities who are qualified DON’T NEED employment equity programs.

Those who are not qualified should NOT be hired.

No group privilege, same rules for everyone. That’s true FAIRNESS.

    2. Clever. I am also intrigued by Coral Castle in Florida. (There is a Wikipedia article about it.) I think the castle’s builder’s methods for lifting heavy rock may have been different. Very fascinating.

      1. This just in: during a recent seance, the ghost of Horatio Nelson is reported to have said “I died for this at Trafalgar?”

      1. But, but, what about the 290 killed and 500 wounded in Sri Lanka, pshaw that’s old news. Here’s our new politician for the Lieberals, isn’t it exciting!

        1. So is the hag PM of New Zealand going to give her people their guns back to protect themselves from Muslims?

    1. The Globalists want this. A world Wide Islamic Kaliphate and the West’s Media has bought in 1000%. The question remains whether they fully understand what they are buying.

Not sure if they get the fact that once in, the only way out is in a cheap Cardboard box with your severed head in yer cold dead Hands.

    2. Khadr killed an American soldier. Instant hero status at the cbc. This was the fwench side of the cbc, no?

    1. He was only reminding Prinz Dummkopf about his father’s Salmon Arm salute.

  1. One Turdeau vacation emits as much CO2 as the average Canadian family does in a year.

    https://www.ctvnews.ca/mobile/politics/pm-s-use-of-jet-for-family-vacation-emitted-as-much-co2-as-average-canadian-per-year-1.3250397

Note that Turdeau takes several vacation and personal travel trips each year.

What is more amazing is taxpayers provide Turdeau with a vacation home at Harrington Lake, complete with a small armada of new watercraft. And a free indoor swimming pool at 24 Sussex Drive. So why does concerned carbon citizen Turdeau need to fly anywhere for vacation?

The Turdeau mantras: “Do as I say, not as I do” and “It’s my party and I’ll lie when I want to”.

  2. Inconvenient Truth. Electric cars according to this German University emit more CO2 than modern diesel engines.
    https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-04-21/new-study-shocks-electric-cars-considerably-worse-climate-diesel-cars
Another Inconvenient Truth. Hydro Power creates more Methane and CO2 than coal fired plants. The UN itself admits this, so what does Trudeau plan to do about Quebec Hydro?
    https://www.newscientist.com/article/dn7046-hydroelectric-powers-dirty-secret-revealed/

    1. // Another Inconvenient Truth. Hydro Power creates more Methane and CO2 than coal fired plants. The UN itself admits this, so what does Trudeau plan to do about Quebec Hydro? //

That is not what the article says. The chart showing areas flooded is misleading, because the amounts emitted vary with the level of vegetation. … // tropical countries that rely heavily on hydroelectricity, such as Brazil, could see their national greenhouse emissions inventories increased by as much as 7% (see map). Colder countries are less affected, he says, because cold conditions will be less favourable for producing greenhouse gases. //

Hydro Quebec, for its part, has this to say:
// impoundment of hydroelectric reservoirs induces decomposition of a small fraction of the flooded biomass (forests, peatlands and other soil types) and an increase in the aquatic wildlife and vegetation in the reservoir.
The result is higher greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions after impoundment, mainly CO2 (carbon dioxide) and a small amount of CH4 (methane).
However, these emissions are temporary and peak two to four years after the reservoir is filled.
During the ensuing decade, CO2 emissions gradually diminish and return to the levels given off by neighboring lakes and rivers.
Hydropower generation, on average, emits 35 times less GHGs than a natural gas generating station and about 70 times less than a coal-fired generating station. //

    1. Hey Justin, how come you are not visiting PEI during their election campaign?

Justin, will you be visiting Newfoundland to campaign in their provincial election?

And how is the lawsuit going? No, no, no, not the Mark Norman case, the libel lawsuit you were going to launch against Andrew Scheer.

      1. Mark Norman case is one he better be worried about. Andrew Scheer put an end to Pantywaist’s threat quickly enough.
Justin of socks will have a lot of rehearsing to do for his campaign , he sure will need a ghost writer and keep his notes/prompters close by.

        1. Justin of socks

A play on “just enough socks”? On the other hand, Prinz Dummkopf can never have enough socks of the “right” kind.

          1. I have long referred to him as Justin (over his head). Even standing on his tippy toes that is a stretch goal.

  3. http://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/world/live-briefing-sri-lanka-bombings-live-updates-police-arrest-24-as-death-toll-nears-300/ar-BBWap61?ocid=ientp
“No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks, but a police officer alerted security officials in an advisory
10 days ago about a threat to churches from a radical Islamist group, National Thowheeth Jama’ath.”
Nearly 300 dead and 500 wounded. Still counting…
There are easily more ‘radical Islamists’ in any one Moslem country than all the world’s ‘right wing extremists’ combined.

  4. So the government in Sri Lanka finally admits that muslims were behind the bombings there. Where is the outrage in the media, from western countries, and little Justin? When the shootings occurred in New Zealand, everyone including Justin was ranting non stop about white nationalism. Why no outrage about islam from western countries and Justin?

    1. Muslims have been killing Christians and other non-muslims for over 1400 years. The left and the media will not say squat because they are cowardly enablers. the media are just as bad as the killers.

    2. Very simple. See my post above.
It should be plain to see that these agenda’s (Climate Change, Mass in-Migration of Islamics & the continuing daily onslaught of Social Justice BS)…..are all designed to destroy the West & its economic Engine, Capitalism while relieving Gaia of 6-7 Billion CO2-methane emitting humans.

In the end Planet Earth will be renamed “Mohammed”
1 billion Slaves all converted and all, oh so Obediant.
      The rest…DEAD.

And take a look at yesterdays Headline article here: “Violence of the Left” . They’ll tell ya for the asking.

      1. Steakman every morning I make my way to the bathroom and give birth to a Moslem. Then I say goodbye Mohammed and I flush.

    3. You make a good point. If someone who indiscriminately murders 50 worshippers at a New Zealand mosque can be claimed to represent the threat of “white nationalism”,* then it follows that those who indiscriminately murder 300 worshippers at Sri Lankan churches can be claimed to represent the threat of Islam.

      * Whatever the hell that’s supposed to mean.

    4. That wasn’t even the best part. Sri Lankan authorities knew something big was about to happen on Easter Sunday. They did nothing till it was too late.

      Why?

  5. Tomorrow will mark the anniversary of Alek Minassian’s van attack.
    http://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canada/survivors-of-the-yonge-st-van-attack-tell-of-the-pain-and-anguish-of-recovery-one-year-later/ar-BBW9quW?ocid=ientp
As a shining example of the Canadian “justice system” his trial doesn’t start till next February.
Of course in Canada, if mental illness is the cause of a criminal attack (like cutting somebody’s head off on a bus) you’ll be out walking the streets in ten years.

    1. I am puzzled by the excessive delay in that trial. Isn’t there a limit on how long you can wait for a trial? I suspect it has been deliberately postponed because there may be unpleasant facts to come out — such as his being recruited by local jihadis. The incel claim was a deliberate distraction.

      1. Linda, look at any trial in Canada and they take years to come to court and all the while the lawyer’s meters are ticking. Most of this is because of Trudeau 1’s Rights and Freedoms which, as even lawyers warned would be a field day for them with all sorts of charter challenges. Even when the defendant admits guilt the wheel of justice slowly grinds on.

I was at a jury selection for a man who stabbed another man to death. Pretty simple and straightforward but the judge said the trial would take 2 months! What could you possibly discuss beyond was this the murderer.

    2. Alek Minassian was just an awkward white man, picked as a fall guy by people who knew full well nobody would believe Alek’s professions of innocence and that he could not afford a competent lawyer.

      Free Alek Minassian.

  6. Heard that CRA has forgiven a tax debt of one delinquent tax payer for approximately 100 million.
The rumour is that this is a corporate entity and that CRA just gave up trying to collect.

      1. Excise taxes/duties.
This suggests someone moving goods in or out of the country.
That or business transactions involving a foreign entity or individual.
We likely won’t know until a random act of journalism occurs, but the odds are far and few between of that happening.
What I want to know is if this was done at the direction of the minister?
The only reason the cover got pulled on SNC petitioning for the DPA was because the minister found out she had to publicly declare her decision to direct the department to do so. In this case no such check on ministerial discretion exists, meaning the minister can direct CRA to drop the case and then impose a cone of silence on the case workers to keep it from leaking out who got to write off a 133 million tax debt.
So then, if this is the case, and the minister being who she is, who would she feel compelled to give a break to?
        And for what reasons?

        1. That decision is up to the Minister of National Revenue at the direction of the commissioner of the CRA.
The business was probably insolvent ( went nipples north). Excise and like taxes are not considered secured or a priority but rather unsecured or ordinary liabilities. So, after the secured and priority creditors have been satisfied, the balance of assets are distributed pro rata to the rest of the flunkies If there’s exigent assets remaining.
Someone made out like a bandit.

        2. Maybe it was an SNC owned company? Perhaps they didn’t pay duty on the imports used to bribe officials?

  7. Great Leader Groper continues his personal time in B.C. today. I wonder how much this personal time is costing taxpayers?

      1. Joe- I asked Kent Hehr, on LinkedIn, if he was willing to publicly ask JT how he squares his carbon tax/climate change stance with his profligate use of a biz jet for vacation purposes. No answer. I struggle with the apparent lack of interest in the Canadian media in squaring that particular circle. If climate change is indeed a crisis, and we need to make drastic reductions in our use of fossil fuels, why doesn’t the PM start practicing what he preaches? Why hasn’t someone nailed him with it at one of his town halls?

        1. What about multiple flights a week? On the government dime but stumping for the Corrupt LPoC! On average he has flown a bare minimum of 4 times a week. In power for 175 weeks +/-. WTF is that pollution output! Jesus wept he’s gotta be the biggest hypocrite in the history of politics in the history of the world.

        2. Bill
what it really galling is that we, the taxpayer, provide Turdeau with a vacation home at Harrington Lake. Turdeau also bought seven or was it eight boats, that we paid for, for use at this vacation home.

And we pay for the swimming pool at 24 Sussex Drive, which I was told, is still used by Turdeau and his family.

Time to end this sense of entitlement.

  8. Think that episode caused riders to avoid The Dog which eventually dropped routes in Western Canada?

    1. What about reparations to those European countries that were “colonized” by Muslims or had hostages taken by the Barbary pirates? I’m sure Spain could use a bit of extra money. Oh, I forgot–those countries weren’t colonized or conquered, they were “blessed” with the “enlightenment” of Allah.

Those so-called reparations are just another leftist scam. Evidently, the carbon confiscation fee isn’t bringing in enough loot.

      1. You’re dripping with sarcasm. As I am.

The other leftist scam is changing history.
They’ll just say,”it didn’t happen.” After all, there’s not enough loot for that. Their continued attacks cost money.

      2. How about a nice round bill for pressing civilized people into Janissary corps? Maybe the all those taken in jasyr? And then let India write them another bill.

It is the savages worldwide who should be paying reparations to western civilization as payment for civilizing them.

        1. Didn’t Turdeau call conservatives Neanderthals? Society can pay all us conservatives for the damages done to our ancestors!

          1. Absolutely, anyone who ever used fire owes me some free shi+ as compensation for cultural appropriation.

    2. They missed everybody who actually deserved reparations.

Israelis are still waiting for the people who bankrolled Hitler to cough up $500 billion US (after 70 years of interest) for Jewish property stolen or destroyed in the war—enough to clear Israel’s entire national debt and then some.

(Much less apologize, and mean it.)

There’s never a thin dime to compensate real victims of injustice. There’s always plenty to pay for the votes of wastes of air.

  9. https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2019/04/handsy-joe-biden-to-launch-his-presidential-campaign-in-charlottesville-virginia-so-he-can-race-bait-no-word-yet-if-governor-blackface-will-attend/

Mister “Their gonna put y’all back in chains” – Joe Biden is set to announce his run for President. The Obamas are supposedly supporting Kamala Harris. Poor Veep, does he think he’ll get Barry’s support anyway. It is a big @$%&#*# deal! It is rather vexing.

  10. The Toronto Star is excited that Great Leader Groper is going to be on an episode of the Simpsons. Wonderful animated picture of him with his rolled up sleeves and slightly ruffled hair. He is so wonderful! Although I’m kind of sad that he won’t be Krusty the clown in the show.

    1. No one should give a dime towards this project. It is a travesty. It is a mockery of 8oo years of history — the building has burned and now the spirit it represented is being burned as well. Shameful.

    1. That is excellent idea. Let’s have Ilhan Lanister drawing contest. I wonder if the first price will be awarded for a portrait in SS uniform or a pirate outfit?

    1. So Osama Bin Laden was Mother Theresa’s saintly brother and merely a victim of those radical Hindus, Buddhists, and Christians.

      Okay, I understand now.

Mark has a way of exposing the perfidious media.

  11. In today’s example of Canadian journalism, instead of writing about the bombings in Sri Lanka Heather Mallick at the Toronto Star explains how she fought off a raccoon who wanted to have sex with her with a kitchen fork.

    1. The kid might have a bright future ahead of her when she’s that clever at that age. She makes more sense than AOC does.

Oooops! I forgot that we’ll all be dead in 12 years time…..

    2. The kid is lovely, she also already has an IQ at least twenty points above that of Loco Chiquita.

  12. Buddy called me from awetawa. Said the place is rife with rumour of the rats deserting.

I dunno, the place lives on rumours but with each passing day the press continues to be bad for bongo. $150k surfing vac-cay in BC over Easter. Apparently some business there refused to serve him? Some guy in Hamiliton gives him the finger…haha.

It wouldn’t surprise me if more libranos throw in the towel.

    1. Watcher,
Sometimes if you change the angle of the material to be burned you get a vastly different result.

Also, perhaps it was wooden planks in the staging for the roof repairs that initially caused the fire.

Does anyone know if the Notre Dame roof attic was full of dust, bat crap, or bird crap? And could that be an accelerant?

  13. Another election (this time PEI) and another failure by the pollsters to adequately estimate conservative support.
You can decide for yourself whether incompetence or deliberate malfeasance is responsible, or if a combination, to what degree each is responsible. But either way, we need someone with better math skills than me to calculate a co-factor to apply to Canadian political polls to make them accurate for practical purposes, esp with the federal election looming.
If we get a poll that says “Justin Trudeau trails by only six points!”, we can then quietly say, “Okay, so he actually trails by fourteen points”, or whatever the adjusted number is.
