Meh, the National Review isn’t bad. It’s no crime to be a conservative but not a Trump supporter. They certainly dropped the ball on the Covington story, and they should review their decision-making process — first facts, then opinion.
And there-in lies the problem, opinion is what we are bombarded with from all of the MSM today. There are more opinion columnists sitting at the editorial desk of major newspapers and broadcast studios than there are ground pounding reporters, hence the facts are hampered and are the first casualties in a propaganda war. The 90% vitriol spewed by the MSM in the last two years against Trump is an indication of what we are subjected to. Pure unadulterated BS is disseminated as fact to advance an ideal. The ideal is that the average American/Canadian/British voters are schmucks and can be swayed by a lie, the bigger the lie the better. The real enemy of Western society are the latter day Nazis that have learned the lesson well from the 1930’s Party. The National Socialist German Worker’s Party tried to implement their plans within a ten year period. Todays Socialist Parties across the globe are taking a longer view and have expanded their time frame to one hundred years, they are now 70% there. Fortunately there has been a resurgence of voters waking up with the Brexit movement, the election of Trump and now the rise of the Yellow Vest movement in France, which is spreading across Europe. The present day Nazis although dressed in clown suits are now failing to amuse the crowd and in their desperation are starting to pull all the stops. The vilification that they have tried to perpetrate on the thinking voter is unravelling, yellow vests and MAGA hats are starting to arouse the “despicable” populace across Western society. No matter how surreptitiously and slowly they try to implement their plan to withdraw and steal our Liberty, Freedom, and Equality they will have a rude awakening. Liberty, Freedom and Equality will not go quietly into the dustbin of history.
Bravo! Spot on.
And I might add we are all diminished as the unwashed masses, deplorables … populists.
A lot of people seem to miss this, so here it is: National Review is a magazine. National Review Online is a website. The Corner is a blog. The Frankovich post was on The Corner. Dozens of people have posting privileges on The Corner, and as far as I know the posts there do not go through an editor.
This is important, not to excuse Frankovich or National Review, but to reveal how silly comments like “Frankovich’s article . . . was apparently published without the approval of National Review executive staff” are. Indeed, if you’re going to criticize someone for not getting their facts straight, you should figure out the difference between an edited magazine and a blog first.
The NR article was like a snobby drive-by blog comment unsupported by facts. The NR gang is in a weird spot as they see themselves as defenders of true “conservatism” which, in my mind, is a like trying to steer a ship without a compass in a sea of fatally compromised libertarianism. They occasionally follow the same course as the more populist Trump and at other times veer off following more free market principles. They have paid dearly for their documented and justifiable revulsion of Trump’s antics through the primaries, boxing themselves in with the “Never Trump” label. I stopped my subscription when Mark Steyn left them. Kevin Williamson is sometimes a good read.
Even after the actual footage proved the narrative an utter lie,there was a talking head female on “The new Fox”News this morning still maintaining the fiction that the school boys were to blame.
How did she put it,”The entirety of the footage shows the teenage boys acting badly”.I guess if you are “woke enough” you can see events as no one else can.
I saw that. You can hear the misandry in her voice. She thinks they’re acting badly by existing as males.
O.M.G. I have never read a more pretentious pseudo-Christian condemnation of a young Christian kid involuntarily scrutinized by the entire world. I shall NOT be looking to the NR for any theological insights. Sheesh, how disgusting … to suppose what these kids believe, and more importantly to suggest THEY KNOW what Christ thinks of them. This is truly disgusting from NR. How DARE they!!!
As disturbing as this story continues to be(there are STILL lefties pushing the debunked lies), I found one tiny part amusing.
The Black Hebrew Israelite group are accused of shouting many distinct insults at the boys, among them are… “dirty ass-crackers” and “dusty ass-crackers”. The words were paired this way by the person doing the captions on the video and I have seen it repeated verbatim by Breitbart and at least one other outlet.
Now, what does this Canadian ‘dusty ass-cracker’ know about black-American lingo? Not much…. but shouldn’t it be ‘dirty-ass cracker’ and ‘dusty-ass cracker’? Maybe I am completely mistaken, but I never heard the term ass-cracker before but adding ‘ass’ to the end of other words seems common.
I doubt anyone else cares a wit about this, I just found it amusing that there don’t seem to be many Ebonics interpreters or proof-readers in the media.
