   Exactly…so how do we take this study seriously? I’m afraid, thanks to select embellishments, liars, and schemers….all scientific studies are absolutely lacking in credibility. Every single one. And, until the “honest” scientists recognize their current set of circumstances, and take positive steps to remedy the damage done (read: castigate the Michael Manns and the like…toss them out) their own work is suspect regardless of how obvious the conclusions. Science has temporarily jumped the shark.

   1. Exactly and well said. I would include all science in that assessment. All ‘studies’ seem to have a political bent to them these days. He who pays the piper calls the tune I guess.

   Exactly.

   Much of what passes for research nowadays is done simply because an researcher wants to examine a particular subject and someone else is willing to pay for it. (That same researcher is never expected to fund any of the work out of his or her pocket.

   Use the right buzzwords or turn of phrase, the money keeps coming.

6. Show a little pity. Everything else they gave trotted out over the last 5 decades has fallen flat as well as fallen apart. The public has clued in to this scam and the only way to keep the gravy train moving along is to keep the brainwashed off balance with newer and better junk science. Funding depends on it.

7. I think that if I spent more weekends on a yacht with fashion models, global temperatures would recover to pre-1950 levels. Anyway, that was the jist of my research grant proposal and thank goodness it was approved, I made it fifteen years because I don’t want too small a sample size.

   Hope nobody believed that, but hey, ya never know.

   1. Of course, you have to keep verifying that your method is correct, lest you be found in error. If you are wrong, you have to change your model or premise for your research and start a whole new investigation to check whether the “modifications” are valid.

      It’s an endless gravy train and it’s kept academic and government researchers employed for decades. They got away with it by calling it the “pursuit of truth and knowledge”.

      It sure beats working for a living, doesn’t it?

      I saw that sort of blarney first-hand while I was a grad student. Maybe it’s a good thing I never got an academic position after I finished my doctorate or I might have been sucked into the same swamp.

8. The only research governments actually have any obligation to fund is research into weaponry useful for making war on enemies of civilization, and winning.

   It should by now be straightforward, using genetic engineering, to design an airborne virus to which Canadians and Americans are immune but which makes a savage cough up blood in six hours, leaves him prostrate, unable to remember his name or curse the Jews in 12, and kills him in 24.

   Where’s the money being invested in that? We keep hearing how the planet is overpopulated.

    It simply serves as an escape from ones Mom’s basement, via the University Library…..
