I hope small business owners who end their year on December 31st are ready to meet with their accountants between Christmas and New Years.

Had lunch with an old friend who owns a restaurant in Port Carling. He says the Liberal minimum wage coming next month will really hurt the business and will force price increases to just keep the place open. Of course according to the Liberals he shouldn’t be in business anyway.

As for me; The Prime Minister not fluent in either Official Languages said about “pepper on da plate” started Me thinking Twenty-Some Years ago.; This thought process about the time the Liberal Government collapsed the So-called Canada Health Care Plan –Except For Government Employees–. The Canada Health Plan where ___Ordinary Non-Tax Paid Wage Earners _____Have to Wait over Six Months to receive any treatments Not Classified as an Emergency. Unless you are an Elected Political Representative or the Manarin level of the Bureaucracy even Emergency Care will require a long Wait.

One of the major problems in the Canadian (Western) society is that we have more and more social programs and health-care-for-all regardless of responsibility or accountability of actions.
We demand the benefits, therefore the all – benevolent Governments must fund them. The more the demands increase the more the government must divert from their budgets which they are responsible for.
I would venture to guess that most people would not give up their “entitlements” in order to reduce taxes.
Likewise, most politicians live under the fear of not being re-elected with their handsome salaries rather than standing up to the screeching electorate and opens mouths demanding their free meals.
It is high time for a tax revolt. Politicians no longer fear their constituents. Perhaps when they can’t pay the civil servants (a bad choice of words for they are neither civil nor servile), they will understand why we despise their policies.
One of the Senators was interviewed on BNN today and she mentioned the Federal Government expects to recover $6 billion from taxing passive investments alone. She went to say that the Government should look at the implications of taking so much money out of small business as it is likely to have a negative effect on future investing. Ya think?
People voted for this and will not riot to end it.

If the past four by-elections are any indication of where this country is headed then all the conservatives out there are whistling by the graveyard. Until the staunch conservatives come out with the backbone to state explicitly what they believe in and how to take this country back then we are doomed to be governed by the Liberals or a pale clone of their ilk. The economic boom happening in America will have an economic spin-off in Canada and that can only enhance Tater Head’s position in ’19.
