Here’s a common narrative from the Leftist playbook:
- Decide upon a major societal change, which few people agree with.
- Convince your Leftist friendly politicians to enact legislation supporting this change.
- Anytime anyone dares publicly disagree with this change, get your apparatchiks to declare them hateful.
- If some disagreeing won’t stop, then pull out the Hitler card.
This is the successful tactic of how Leftist SJWs have normalized a whole host of issues over the past many years.
Such is precisely what occurred recently at Wilfred Laurier University:
A Wilfrid Laurier University teaching assistant has been identified as “transphobic” and sanctioned for last week showing her class an excerpt of a video debate involving the controversial University of Toronto psychology professor Jordan Peterson.
In fact, her supervising professor, Nathan Rambukkana, told her that by showing the video to her “Canadian Communication in Context” class, “it basically was like … neutrally playing a speech by Hitler …”
Lindsay Shepherd, a 22-year-old graduate student at the school in Waterloo, Ont., was informed that merely by showing the clip, taken from a televised debate between Peterson and Nicholas Matte, a lecturer at the U of T’s Sexual Diversity Studies program, she was “legitimizing” Peterson’s views about genderless pronouns.
She has been told that she must now submit her lesson plans to her supervisor in advance, that he may sit in on her next few classes and she must “not show any more controversial videos of this kind.”
Further to the attacks on Jordan Peterson, if one dares speak out against those attacking him then those like Darren Cheng will step in to support the efforts to squash Free Speech. In and around Remembrance Day this is especially repugnant.
I’ve a bit of advice for the TA, Lindsay Shephard, either:
1)dig in and fight and be prepared to be threatened, bullied, accosted, and maybe even beaten by the intellectually enlightened for the next couple of years possibly going to court, maybe even criminal, or
2) get the hell out of there, stop paying them any money, get a job AND start a business, make money, avoid taxes aggressively, raise boys and girls, and just get on with life.
These are the only choices you have, other than of course, drinking the kool aid.

So long as classes such as ‘Canadian Communication in Context’ exist, this is going to happen. The University/College of today just doesn’t make sense and the PC SJW trash is only one reason why. So much unnecessary nonsense. My electives were usually fun but their requirement was a blatant way for Uni to raise money by getting around tuition caps!
Or 3) Always be prepared, whenever summoned or even just attending meetings with superiors, always carry a small conceiled recording device.

That story is distressing. Her role is to teach communications — not to indoctrinate students with political views. Even neutrally playing a recording of Hitler should not be an issue. He was a persuasive communicator and History has already passed judgement on him. In a communications class how he influenced people should be of interest. Looks like indoctrination is exactly what her supervisor and others think they should be doing. Students should be very angry that they are being dumbed down. Hopefully, the TA has some supporters.
If you read his descriptions of his books, it is clear that that guy is very far gone. It it is galling to realize taxpayers are paying his salary. Too many with similar ideas and the whole university system should collapse. They are marketing complete garbage.

Brendan O’Neil coined the term Stepford Students to descibe college millennials. “Have you met the Stepford students? They’re everywhere. On campuses across the land. But their student brains have been replaced by brains bereft of critical faculties and programmed to conform”.
This idea needs to be expanded. It’s not just Stepford Students. The above quote could be replaced with Stepford Professors, Stepford Stepford Progressives, Stepford Feminists and still ring true. There’s barely a glimmer of independent thought or non-conformist thinking anywhere in academia. They have morphed into a bloody cult…but with jazz hands.
If you insist that gender is a spectrum and everyone’s chosen gender must be accepted and validated but also believe that masculine men are toxic and women who choose traditional roles are gender traitors…then you might be a progressive.
This would be like my daughters “History of Rock and Roll” course at UCLA (yes, she really received 4 units college credit for this course) … being told to STOP playing Dire Straits music because of that one song with the lyric …

my laurier university story, quick version:
the university contracted to add more lighting in the library. the whole method and design was wrong from the start.
the idjit in charge decided to screw square tubing onto the UNEVEN tops of the shelves and then rails (still uneven) onto the posts which then held the (still uneven) florescent fixtures.
my notion of a much better design was to anchor rails from the ceiling, that way if it EVER became necessary to move the shelves, one could simply shift the fixtures on the rails hanging from the ceiling, ie NOT permanently attached to the friggin shelves.
the last straw came when I was adding additional fixtures to those in place and came across a bunch of wire nuts that appeared to have been merely shoved in place, ie they were only loosely attached to the conductors. this alarmed me, but by then I had long realized what an idjit the contractor was.
so I quit then and there, 4 oclock in the morning, mosied down to one of the catalog computers (they were using DOS at the time), and modified the ‘autoexec.bat’ startup file to include a cute little tongue-in-cheek message that library users should use caution when touching the metal shelves since it was possible that a jiggle or jostle could cause a live conductor to contact the shelf at some point, making the whole thing live.
that morning when I got home, I called the physical plant people and told them my concerns and then to top it off I called the university student paper and told them too !!

I always knew that we, the taxpayers, were getting taken by the education racket in Canada. But as I look at the waste of taxpayer money “educating” and then employing Rambukkana, who will in turn foist the worst useless ideology on gullible youth, I am sickened by the state of our universities. You have to know that there are plenty more idiots where he came from.
