In a sharp contrast to the lengthy, drawn-out process used by Barack Obama to block two new oil pipelines, Donald Trump will sign off on approvals for both the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines today.
Yesterday, union leaders; today business leaders.
“Walking out of the meeting today, I know I come out with a lot of confidence that the president is very, very serious in making sure the United States economy is going to be strong and have policies — tax, regulatory or trade — to drive that,” Mark Fields said while he left White House. “That encourages all of us, as CEOs, as we make decisions going forward.”
It’s no joke that the biggest fear of the Democrats isn’t Trump failing, it’s Trump succeeding.

And succeed he will. He’s showing politicians of every stripe what an actual turnaround CEO does. Which is identify roadblocks to success, and demolish them. Quickly.
They’ve never seen this before, because they all think pulling each other’s pisser in the Senate for months, and crafting complicated ‘compromises’ full of pork and graft are how ‘things get done’, whereas Trump knows that it’s actually the contrary.
This will be eye opening for politicians, voters, and businesses.
Trump is the most bigly President in American History. He is making Obama look like a FAILING college sophomore with -0- grade to report. A college sophomore with a GPA of -Incomplete-
So, can we all agree that there should be NO MORE affirmative-action Presidents EVER again.
And can the GOPe #NEVERTrumpers go sit in a corner and finger themselves whilst STILL trying to convince me that Trump isn’t a TRUE conservative ? All the good their “true” conservatism ever did for the country.
And guess what !!?? The whole world will fall into line with Trump. You know why ? Because, whether they will admit it or not … a STRONG ECONOMICALLY energized America is GOOD, no, GREAT!!! for the whole world.
I LOVE my bigly new President !!
Sure hope this creates more jobs for our cousins to the North.
And remember all those IDIOTS who were saying that a “businessman” can’t run America like a “business”. That we need an experienced politician like HER to use her years, and years, and years of government experience to run our country.
SHE is polite, and smiles nicely when asking the servants to … “please pass the sweet and sour shrimp” before retiring to her 5-star accommodations for an evening of slap and tickle with Huma.
The American VOTERS got it RIGHT !!! Bigly RIGHT !!
Posted this earlier under the Redrose Country heading but thought it might fit better here.
Speaking of the oil patch, the news this morning is that Trump will approve the Keystone Pipeline. So Obama blocked the line when Harper was in power and Harper was fighting to get a western terminus for a Canadian pipeline on the West Coast. Now we have a wimp in Ottawa who begrudgingly approved an expansion to an existing pipeline to the west coast but withheld approval of a new west coast pipeline. So now the Alberta oil-patch product will be sent to Texas and the Americans will be getting the benefit of exporting Canadian oil. As I’ve said here numerous times “Canadians are stupid” and this is just another example. We could have built a terminus in Kitimat and exported Canadian oil through a Canadian port for the next fifty years, and profited from the benefits, but no we’re going to go cap in hand and ask the Americans take our oil to the international market.
No matter the route, KXL or other that gets the Canadian product to tide water, the net result is the same.
The oilsands product can now be considered part of the world market.
Juthtins plan was to never have to worry about KXL ever being built so he could support it without being seen as supporting the oil industry.
He’s his own worst enemy.
Good comment….but one correction. Trudeau isn’t his own worst enemy. He is OUR worst enemy.
China has invested heavily in the tar sands, and they are going to want to get a pipeline built to the West Coast so they can ship their products home.
How is Justin going to do a trade deal with China which excludes their shipping crude to China? I think Justin and Chrystia are about to find out the truth about negotiating with China.
We might see lots of pouting and tears, and probably the same from Freeland.
I hope Trudeau fails and I hope Trump doesn’t help him in his project to turn Canada into quebecistan.
President Trump Is Wasting No Time Shutting Down The Climate Scam

I think we can put to rest that it was the Russians who did the hacking.
It obviously was Brad Wall and his oil posse!
Dakota! lad, it’s DAKOTA !!!
Nevermind that half of Trump’s America First plan is straight-up left-wing economics.

The Obamas are spending time with Richard Branson at his Caribbean getaway, flown there by Branson’s private jet, powered by …..hydrogen?…..ethanol?….??
wow !!! AWESOME !! Simply AWESOME.
Drain the swamp … BIGLY TIME !!!
But, but, but …. oh dear. Now Chelsea Handler will NEVER interview him. What will Madonna think about this? Woe is me. What ever shall we do.
and NO carbon tax required! thanks a lot JT and Red Rachel.
The only thing America has to fear is fear itse…… no wait a minute. Let’s update that for the modern world.
The only thing America has to fear is a Democrat in the White House.
There. That’s better.
I’m so exhausted by SO MUCH WINNING BIGLY SO SOON (never to be confused with Wynneing) that I need a nap. And my face hurts from this perma-smile. The Donald is making YUUUUUUUUGE progress in record time. Gotta love the new leader of the free world!
This too

Actually it isn’t. Left wing “economics” demands tons of regulation. Trump is going to cut regulations to the bone.
God, I can’t wait until Trump has some underling read your idiot “leader” the riot act and then poses with him for a few photos, shakes his hand and then dismisses him as the irrelevant boob he is.
Choke on it good and hard, all you here, who dismissed Trump as a boob.
Suck on it good and hard.
And yet the media tries to label him a liar . What do you call some who leads on , makes you jump through hoops and spend millions with no intention of giving approval ? A liar possibly ? No ,you call him Obama.
Harper criticizes Trump, he seems to have lost his senses.
http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2017/01/19/trump-poised-to-reverse-seven-decades-u-s-foreign-policy-harper_n_14268890.html
Reading the Mauldin newsletter where it stated that Trump is demanding objectives and deadlines from all his departments within the first 100 days. He is encouraging competition for capital within government departments to enhance efficiency.
Interesting that it was mentioned that the Trump demands for results will cause casualties within his team when they fail. People will be let go. It was suggested that the media will interpret that as a Trump failure and not a management tool.
I caught Juthtins ACT on CPAC I then quickly checked out CBC and CTV to see their reaction. As usual Juthtin breathlessly blathered his worn out talking points “and those trying hard to join the middle class” swallowed whole by his fans and supporters in the corrupt Media. The spin by the television Media after the performance (CBC,CTV,Glowballs) was that Juthtin remains a hero… surprise! Trump approved the Keystone pipeline that Juthtins bum buddy Oblather was blocking… Juthtin had nothing to do with that approval yet the Media claim “Juthtin did what Harper couldn’t do” and got Keystone done… ahhhhhh Trudopia.
“President Obama: “You didn’t build that.”
President Trump: “We can build it.”
Didn’t you do a double take and laugh out loud over the requirement to use American steel?
“All the good their “true” conservatism ever did for the country.”
Bingo
Carly said as much in the debates… which a) convinced me to support here; and b) convinced me to support Trump after she dropped-out.
Trump is mostly anti-Obama.
While you may not like everything he does, Obama likes none of it.
Maybe, which is why I said “half.”
But direct federal government intervention into the marketplace? Dictating terms to heads of private companies? Threatening punitive border taxes on imports to sway business decisions? Massive public infrastructure investments to spur job growth?
I’m surprised how quickly many folks here have become economic liberals.
no doubt… but once again… what good has voting for pure conservatives done us?
Trump is a compromise with the Left… or is how i view it.
If I recall correctly, after Obama was re-elected in 2012, many (most?) here, including Kate, argued that it was because the RNC had nominated a RINO (i.e., Romney) instead of a “true” conservative.
“Under Trump, the United States will cease to view the rise of China as benign,” Harper said. ”
!!!! Who in hell EVER saw the rise of China as “benign”?! Surely Harper can’t be that naive. Or can he?
China is for China, they will make all the nice faces to keep you calm while they plot your demise. I can’t believe a supposedly experienced politician like Harper believes otherwise.
Maybe Harper should consider a return to politics, and run for the Liberals in Dion’s Riding.
requirement to use American steel
Where did you see that?
This is what’s reported:
Today’s executive orders…
1) approval of Keystone pipeline upon renegotiation
2) approval of Dakota Access pipeline upon renegotiation
3) all pipelines must be built in the USA
4) expedite regulatory burdens on manufacturing
5) expediting environmental reviews and approvals
even if your comment is true, what’s the problem with that?
Keystone will take oil sands crude to the world’s largest concentration of heavy crude refineries on the Gulf coast. And it won’t need to be upgraded if mixed with the the very light Bakken crude. So, shipment through Keystone will result in more people bidding for it, and it will remove to some degree the need for more investment in upgraders. How does this equal a lower price and profits for Canadian crude?
He obviously never read the Sidewinder Report. I’ll bet that most current political hacks from all Parties have never heard of it.
“President Trump Is Wasting No Time Shutting Down The Climate Scam” John Galt
Trump is a magnificent CEO.. He knows he must immediately kill this crap, such that Corporate American will know “NOT” to chase Government Money in the Environmental fraud of climate nonsense.
Driving a Stake into the UN/EU globalists leaves George Soros with his dick in his hand pissing into the wind, nothing will change the USA reinvention of a wealth/Job agenda. We have >1000 years to deal with the automation issues and advanced science will exist @ that time
Every successful intuitive involves.. X, Y and Z.. Trump is on X ..full on
RE: Harper’s speech. It would have been nice to hear more of the actual speech instead of a few sound bites and announcer narrative. But in any case, yeah, maybe Trump will change a policy that has been in place for 70 years …… since WWII in other words!!! Why not? The world is REALLY quite different than it was 70 years ago. Did Harper say this was a bad thing or didn’t he?? I couldn’t really tell.
The Marshal Plan was a HUUGE success, the Soviet Union is gone, and the EU did not exist 70 years ago. Why shouldn’t the EU pick up more of the responsibilities …. and costs …. of their own self defense? Same applies to Korea and Japan. Why are Americans entirely responsible for their defense? Let’s at least share the responsibilities and costs. I for one am tired of the U.S. being the policeman for the world. It doesn’t really work anyway.
The entire foreign policy of the U.S. is WAY past due for reexamination.
“It’s no joke that the biggest fear of the Democrats isn’t Trump failing, it’s Trump succeeding.”
CBC received the memo as well.
http://www.cbc.ca/beta/news/opinion/donald-trump-disaster-1.3945977
“Why are Americans entirely responsible for their defense?”
“Entirely” is an exaggeration, but in any case, the usual argument is that the US also benefits immensely from these arrangements. Indeed, its super-power status basically demands as a prerequisite the maintainnance of a permanent overseas military presence — see “power/force projection”.
“I for one am tired of the U.S. being the policeman for the world. It doesn’t really work anyway.”
You, and many longstanding left-wing critics of US foreign policy.
“The entire foreign policy of the U.S. is WAY past due for reexamination”
I agree and this clip explains why NATO needs some work.

Damn, Trump is trying to run government like a successful business. Who could see that coming? I am sort of wishing I was an American. On the opposite end we have a part time drama teacher, court jester, who believes budgets balance themselves. Canadians love picking an idiot for PM.
Okay numbskull I’ll make is really simple for you.
You and I have a neighbour who constantly throws garbage in both of our yards. I decide will build a 12 foot high wall to keep him from doing that. You decide to buy a wiener dog to be a ‘guard dog’ to keep him from throwing his garbage in your yard since he can’t throw it over the 12 foot fence or it’s too inconvenient and he has to purchase a device to do so.
End result. I don’t get any more garbage and you get it all. That is what the military might of the USA prevents…while the countries that ‘purchase’ the wiener dog get the garbage.
That’s the difference between the USA and Eruope. They’re idiots. The USA isn’t.
If you cannot see the financial benefits of a Canadian product being shipped through a Canadian port, rather than a Canadian product being shipped through an American port I don’t think I can explain it to you in a dialogue here.
As an addendum to this post and to some commentators here now that “The Donald” is in charge how long will Trudeau hold to his belief that “If you kill your enemies, they win.” That kind of twaddle is not going to go far with Trump’s advisors, as they are now looking at overhauling the ROE’s.
It’s better to export it through an American port than not export it at all.
Keystone will get Canadian oil moving. The Canadian solution ranges from What-If to Maybe. Our oil will be flowing to Gulf Coast refineries while the sad excuse for leadership in Canada dithers some more.
You make no argument as to how shipment through BC brings higher prices for oil sand crude than does piping the oil to what is probably the world’s best market for heavy crude in the Gulf Coast. The absence of an argument from you to support your position suggests you have none. Perhaps you could lower yourself for a moment to enlighten me?
If Canada had a leader instead of a clown puppet, then he would tell Ontario & Quebec that a pipeline will be built to our Eastern refineries or they can kiss their transfer payments goodbye.
Amazing what a government can accomplish when they no longer feel they have to put on a show to placate the CAVEs (Citizens Against Virtually Everything).
That is the chief virtue of electing someone who has shown they don’t give a rodent’s rear about what the other side says about them.
