Hollywood Hypocrisy on Display

Piers Morgan took down Meryl Streep in a scathing editorial:

Last night, Streep received a Lifetime Achievement award at the Golden Globes, and chose the moment to launch a very personal attack on Donald Trump.
She began by saying that Hollywood, foreigners and the press are ‘the most vilified segments of American society right now’.
At which point the cameras panned out to hundreds of the richest, most privileged people in American society sitting in the audience in their $10,000 tuxedos and $20,000 dresses, loudly cheering this acknowledgement of their dreadful victimhood.
She then said that if all the ‘outsiders and foreigners’ were kicked out of Hollywood, ‘you’ll have nothing to watch but football and mixed martial arts, which are not the arts.’
Wow.
I haven’t heard such elitist snobbery since Hillary Clinton branded Trump supporters ‘a basket of deplorables’.

  1. When an elitist snob like Piers Morgan calls you an elitist snob, you know you’ve gone full retard. Never go full retard.

  2. See and if any of it was genuine I would actually agree. Yes Pootin is a thug and I have criticized SDA myself over the support they show him. And I was never a Trumpet, hell I even made the exact point about cognitive dissonance Trumpets will be struggling with. So what is the difference? I want Trump not be a cupid stunt you want him to be. I want pootin defeated because russia has always been an enemy of the Occident (that you as a leftist despise) and always will be. You want pootin to win just so you get to score cheap points against Trumpets. You take no pleasure with the left melting down over trump, you melt down with them, parroting their points.
And no matter how bad Trump will be he has already delivered on three fronts. First, he neutered the Clinton crime syndicate. Second, he brought political incorrectness to the mainstream, now the deplorables have a voice now and there is nothing you can do about it. Third, we get to enjoy your meltdown. So even if for the next four years Trump does nothing but sticks roman candles up his a$$ he alredy is a better president than Ogabe was or than Hitlery would be.

  3. “Nah, I’m good. He’s not my president. Mostly, I’m going to enjoy watching folks here spend the next four years abandoning their conservative principles, contorting their beliefs, and discovering new degrees of cognitive dissonance, all so they can avoid admitting that Trump played them the entire time.”
And I’ll bet he doesn’t make it past the first primary–oh WAIT!!!

  4. geezus Colon, you got me laffing like hell, I was about to post to Eli about the same as you just did. Fact is, I haven’t liked Trump the person for bloody years, and almost shit when was going to run as a republican (he ain’t no conservative), but like you, I like what he’s accomplished so far. Leftards like Eli don’t get that, but they don’t understand democracy, so they can’t appreciates it’s return.

  5. Eli. The 80s called. They want their foreign policy back. Russia is no geopolitical threat; Obama says so. Or at least he used to.

  6. Wow the scoldy old crone shtick, ala SNLs church lady, is never ending. It must be compulsive for the tedious, or internalized by the fringy, moon bat types. What is more amazing is that they can’t figure out why it didn’t work for the GOPe or the HRC campaign. It isn’t about Trump; it’s about the Middle standing up for itself.

  8. …discovering new degrees of cognitive dissonance, all so they can avoid admitting that Trump played them the entire time.
I know, look at all those RINOs and leftists like Sessions and Mattis he has for cabinet picks, buy did he have us fooled. I tell you, Eli, you are so politically astute you could get a job with MSNBC.

  9. The left have been trying to destroy football for years.
I liked Strep in Doubt and that film about Margaret Thatcher. Too bad she didn’t learn anything from the latter role.

  10. Watching Streep is kind of like watching the ads on TV with highly successful celebrities congratulating each other on how crazy they are and how everyone should tiptoe around their insanity. Streep is privileged and she insults everyone in the working class revolution that elected Trump.

  11. When all is said and done, who really gives a rat’s ass what Streep thinks or says? Sure … she’s a famous actress with a large fan base and a massive fortune but, in the end, she has one vote, exactly the same as a coal miner in West Virginia or a rancher in South Dakota. What did she hope to accomplish with her ill-advised and inappropriate rant? Change the result of the election? No. Cause Trump supporters to do a 180 and become Clinton fans? Hardly. The best word I can think of to describe Streep and her babbling is irrelevant.

  12. Eli, you really do not get it do you?
Trump uses twitter, to by pass the press, because if he relied on the lying main stream media it would be even worse.

  13. Eli said,
“this is a President-elect who is so thin-skinned that he needs to publicly respond to a perceived attack by an actor…..”
    Perceived???
Is it malice that makes you say this imbecilic absurd thing or are you too dumb to know that your perception of the most obvious things is very distorted??
How will you MISS perceive this comment of mine, I wonder…

  14. Perceived attack revisited…
Either Eli is saying it was not an attack or that it was not directed at Trump.
Then who was it directed at Eli? Please educate us.
If it was not an attack, then what was it? were those compliments Meryl was paying to Trump?
    We are listening Eli.

  15. “When all is said and done, who really gives a rat’s ass what Streep thinks or says?”
Exactly. All that happened was an actor made a speech at an awards show. It is entire inconsequential.
So what kind of *President-elect* feels compelled to go on Twitter and respond like a fifth-grader? Oh, right — the super thin-skinned kind.

  16. well no Eli, it is NOT inconsequential, too many of you libtards lap this $hit up and then it is part of your knowledge base that helps mold your decisions on issues. You should really learn when you’v overstepped your intellectual competence and are starting to make yourself look like an idiot

  17. The fact that Eli agreed with my comment about the irrelevance of Streep’s rant caused me to rethink my position somewhat. NME666 said it very well when pointing out that many intellectually lazy people take as gospel any crap that is spewed about by the likes of Streep. I’m a “consider the source” type of person and tend to disregard bullshit when I hear it as opposed to engaging in a p*ssing contest. But, on the other hand, Streep and those of her ilk have been running their mouths without ever being called on it. Trump felt compelled to call bullshit and wasted no time in doing so. The fact that he responded via Twitter simply took away an opportunity for the media to misquote him.

  18. I have to admit, I was wrong. During the campaign there was a time when I wanted Trumps twitter account removed from him so he wouldn’t screw everything up and lose. I was wrong and I am so glad he ignored my advice and kept on tweeting. Now, I have to tell you I am not only used to it but I love it! I want him to keep it up. I love it when he calls out these twits for their BS and hypocrisy. It’s everybody’s fantasy to call people out on their crap but most of us keep quite and take the “high road”. I am sick and tired of the high road. Crap is crap.
Who is this woman? A woman who used her fame as a bully pulpit. She may dislike Trump but she also made it clear that she loaths his supporters. Trump calling her out is also defending his supporters, sort of like the basketball coach who calls a a ref for bad calls. You got to let your team know you have their back. It builds respect. Contrary to what that actress thinks, leading and persuasding is also type of preformance art, but it is real.
Trump was and is kinda scary and addictive. Sure hope he can deliver on at least half of his campaign promises but even if he doesn’t he is not illiray..

  19. The solution to this problem is to simply stop supporting Hollyweird. I only heard about Meryl Streep in the last few months and obviously she’s not in the types of movies I like to watch and I’d probably fall asleep during them if I was forced to view one. I’ve always liked Clint Eastwood and have purchased some of the recent movies he’s produced and did see Ramanujan and The Imitation Game. Usually I buy DVD’s at Value Village and I don’t mind waiting 10-20 years after a movie comes out before I pick up a used VHS tape or DVD. The fact that I haven’t heard of this overprivileged moonbat during the years of searching used DVD’s to find something I might want to watch tells me that she probably hasn’t made a single movie I’d find interesting. I’d be quite happy watching MMA if I had the ability to do so (don’t have cable TV) and have watched Schwartzeneger’s Conan the Barbarian and Terminator movies multiple times. Likely Streep considers herself to be far superior to those percieved as “the deplorables” and I suspect this may be Hollyweirds “let them eat cake” moment.
When I’ve been over at friends places and watched some of the new crap that comes out of Hollyweird, I get the impression that the CIA is controlling the movie plot in order to subliminally create new villians in the minds of the sheeple. Anti-Russian themes have been prominent in some of the movies I’ve forgotten the names of and, at the height of the cold war, Dr. Strangelove was a far more balanced overview of the situation.

  20. Pleased to see Mark Wahlberg quoting what I said during Meryl’s speech:
‘A lot of Hollywood is living in a bubble. They’re pretty out of touch with the common person, with the everyday guy out there providing for their family.’
He toned it down quite a bit though. The word “f*cksticks” may have crept into my reaction. 😉

  21. The most important thing in all this is that the whole thing is NOT true. Trump did not make fun of the handicaped man, Ann Coulter months ago demonstrated that Trump did the exact same thing – the EXACT – same thing about at least two other people who are not handicaped.
I saw the videos and photos.
Trump did the exact same things about NON handicaped people.
The whole thing is a lie, and Merryl Streep has repeated this lie and now this lie will live for years or decades because the average human is too dumb to know that most of what is on tv and on the news are LIES or propaganda or some type of indoctrination material.
Check the archives at Ann COulter’s site, she shows that Trump did the EXACT same thing about NON hanidicaped people.
PS; I do not use auto correct and French is my first language, that explains the spelling errors.
