And the “new CEO move”.
Trump and Pence recognized these openings and took them. Political writers will interpret this situation as routine credit-grabbing and exaggerated claims. But business writers will recognize Trump’s strategy as what I will call the “new CEO Move.” Smart CEOs try to create visible victories within days of taking the job, to set the tone. It’s all about the psychology.
More: How Donald Trump Sealed the Deal to Keep Carrier Jobs in the U.S.

We were talking about this over beers last night and we wondered why more politicians don’t do the cheap quick hitters as there is: nothing to lose, huge gains to be potentially made, plus, so much low hanging fruit you could pick, make an impression, and then leverage that to get what you really want later on. Then we decided that was because 99% of politicians are idiots and know nothing about governing, managing or leading people. Then it all made sense.
Relatively cheap deal for Trump.
The cost to the taxpayer is $700k per year for few years.
He’s got to find a better way.
The Trudeau Liberals have already done many “cheap quick hitters”, but those actions have been strictly ideological, and in reality benefit nobody.
Notice at the end of the posting, Scott mentions that his girlfriend is being punished for dating him by the SJW’s at instagram. Nothing and nobody is more anti women than the left.
“Then we decided that was because 99% of politicians are idiots and know nothing about governing, managing or leading people. Then it all made sense.”
I disagree with the “idiots” description,as politicians manage to do very well for themselves, but the rest is spot on. Most of ’em are salesmen, and anyone here who’s had to work for a company cleaning up the mess left by salesmen will understand what I mean.
This is my big gripe about Left-wing politicians,ALL of whom come from the sales or civil servant side, while a few Conservatives and Liberals have had some experience in business,Chuck Strahl is one example that comes to mind.
In Trump,America AT LAST has a businessman in charge of the corporation, they rejected the last one,Ross Perot, in favor of various fantasy peddlers and civil servants. We’ll see how this works out.
Personally.I’m optimistic about a Trump Presidency.
“Then we decided that was because 99% of politicians are idiots and know nothing about governing, managing or leading people.” Slaw
99% of the politicians would be told to F&&& off, but Trump is a real CEO who knows how to use the power.. Who wants to be considered a deplorable American Corporation & be denied Government contracts. California is not going to like Trump, given that the US Navy has been obsolete since Air Power & Missiles..
Carrier’s competition comes from Mexico (I have a Mexican AC in AZ) and Trump may have to FIX that problem in NAFTA…
I doubt that the cost is $700 K annually for a while. Possibly some need to learn the “value of a dollar” concept!
“given that the US Navy has been obsolete since Air Power & Missiles..”
Not so fast.
With the US Navy’s new energy weapons, and the huge disparity between the speed of light and the speed of sound, enemy aircraft/missiles may as well be parked targets in the sky.

actually Don, many Pols are lawyers, thusly legal thinkers and not strategic/practical thinkers. And they tend to be crooks as well, because law school teaches them how to “lie”
that and the advanced state of their rail-gun tech, puts the USA navy well ahead of the military curve
Here’s O’Bummer being a pompous ass about Trump’s promise to bring jobs back to the U. S.:

In other words, people are like cattle…to be manipulated. New boss, same as the old…
After all, even wild cattle got eaten by wolves.
If people weren’t so much like slaves,(FIFY) they mightn’t need government at all.
This is why the Libertarian Party will never get anywhere. It basically requires informed self-sufficient people to vote for them and every fool’s vote equals every wise man’s, whereas the masses contain *100 fools for every wise man.
*possible understatement
…the psychology of learned helplessness. As though some ‘leader’ will save anyone…how’s that been working out?
Worked pretty good for England under Churchill. If a man can do it, another man can do it.
I could name other historic instances if you want.
That said, I think the US is too far gone, debt wise. Trump will slow the decline, but can’t reverse it.
Yeah, the wars worked out really well, got all sorts of ‘temporary’ taxes because of helping Europeans out of self-dug holes…
So it’s your contention that Churchill started ‘the wars’ as you call them?
I disagree.
Seriously?
Are you people new?
Do you really think that Trump is going to be able to overcome a daily Stockwell for the next 4 years?
I thought Trump was part of the usual Kabuki Theatre that our elections are, realizing nobody’s getting that far without the stamp of approval. Wikileaks’ exposure of the Clinton “have our Media friends back the easiest for us to beat candidate” strategy showed how Trump was more lucky than good.
WE are going to pay for past prolificacy regardless of Trump’s actions. The media will get their revenge.(see S.Harper)
The political Left and their Media are playing for keeps.
And winning big time.
Trump will leave office like EVERY Conservative and Republican Prime Minister and President preceding him.
A figure of discord, derision and division.
Book it Daniela.

England did indeed declare war against Germany, but this was not a declaration made in the defense of Poland, but a hostile declaration of a war that England had intended to begin from the outset. Proof of this can be found in Churchill’s speech in which he praises Poland, calling it a rock which shall persevere no matter what tides may strike it, and then casually announced to the world his full understanding for Marshal Stalin’s occupation of 48% of Poland’s territory as necessary for Russian security interests. Having destroyed the Polish nation-state by maneuvering it into a war with Germany, Churchill began to lay the groundwork for future British-Soviet alliance against the Nazis. This groundwork, contrary to the popular myth that Winston Churchill was a heroic man who never appeased evil, was rooted in the tried and tested British policy of selective appeasement. Churchill would win the war against Germany by appeasing the Soviet Union.
Hmmm Seems to me there are two things to consider:
US total Debt including unfunded Liabilities, Trade Deficit(, National Debt..As per Steve Bannons 2011 vid w saw here the other day)…sum total $ 200 Trillion VS the total NET Worth of the US, its people, its corporations, its infrastructure – EVERYTHING pegged by Bannon at 50-60 trillion…
Now add in a President who has more experience in a Bankruptcy than anyone on the planet…and what do ya get..??
First State of the Union Address. “FOLKS We are BROKE.” We cant pay our debts…DEFAULT….
who woulda seen that coming..??
I mean seriously folks…can the Fed just continue to print money and the US Govt continue to have 1 Trillion dollar deficits FOREVER..?? No
Regardless I’m glad he is in fact the president elect.
I think he will do just fine…But it is for sure going to be interesting
Problem is, Churchill was not PM or even in the government before the declaration of war and the invasion of Poland, but was appointed as First Sea Lord on day 1. He didn’t become PM for another 8 months on the eve of the invasion of France. Thus it was Chamberlain was the PM at the outbreak and issued the Ultimatum to Germany as part of the coalition (French/English). It is perhaps to Chamberlain’s credit that he did not declare war on the USSR despite their invasion of Poland clearing the way for an alliance later on. It should be noted that prior to WW1 East Prussia belonged to Germany and the remainder of Poland was a Russian possession and Hitler was reclaiming “German” territory lost in the Treaty of Versailes and did not need English encouragement.
There are a lot of parallels between Trump and Churchill. Both bombastic personalities from outside the party establishment, both switched parties, both made racist remarks, and both vilified foreigners (Islam/ Germany resp.) etc. I wish Trump half of the success of Churchill in becoming a statesman.
I wish Trump half of the success of Churchill in becoming a statesman.
Yeah, Churchill did a lot of talking while others did the fighting and dying…if you call that ‘success’.

But if General George Washington were to step down from the Heavens, learn Polish, and read these books, he would recognize the guile and cruelty of a familiar enemy in the Empire of Churchill that Polands conservative Statesman blamed for the woes his country endured between 1939 to 1945.
the masses contain *100 fools for every wise man.*possible understatement
Consider how stupid the average person is, then realize that half of them are stupider than that. — George Carlin
the ancient Hebrews wanted a King. God gave them one and it was downhill from there.
Stradivarius, no not new boss same as the old, this one is leading from the front as opposed from behind. He is saying by this move I know where you want to go and I will do everything in my power to lead you there. Kuzo, do we really think Trump can do what he has said he will (yes your are right 20 trillion is a giant mill stone)? Well now we have had change and for the first time in eight years we have hope. We ain’t dumb it’s no guratee and there is plenty of work to do. UnoMe, actually factory jobs and coal jobs are not no skill jobs they are jobs that used to allow people to earn a living wage that a family could be raised on. A bigger problem for us is that we are creating a surplus of workers for a low number of jobs ie women’s studies jobs are limited we could close half of our law schools and still produce enough lawyers to fill those jobs for years. A further problem is the debt these individuals have to pay off to get these skills for which no jobs exsist .
This election was about globalism vs nationalism.
Alinksy 101, attacking your opponent by name calling, you are racist ect, instead of talking about the issues doesn’t work anymore. Globalization doesn’t work. We are on to it and are changing coarse just in the nick of time.
Germany wants coal. In fact Germany has to have coal becasue they shut down their nuclear plants and alternative green emergy isn’t up to the job. The coal in Germany is of poor quality and the way it is mined caused a lot of environmental blight. The cost of oil has gone down so the cost of shipping coal to Germany has gone down, Looks like a market to me!
Globalization why doesn’t it work? Why are we ready to get rid of it? It is the enslavement of not only low skilled working people but skilled working people and what once was the “educated middle class ” in this country and exports that enslavement to other countries. Global corporations keep moving their work forces to underdevelpoed countries to increase profits. They exploit child labor among other abuses.
Prime example of who these people are and how they operate in the news this week. Kellogg was called out on Wednesday by Amnasty international for using child labor on plantations in Indonesia to harvest
palm oil. In 1997 g sora$$ crashed the Indonesian currency. The Kellogg foundation gave one million dollars to Black Lives Matter last year. Blacks Lives Matter is a sora$$ founded and funded paid professional army of thugs who travel our country inciting riots and destroying property. Globalist deal in chaos it is how they gain control and make money.
We need to bring back our jobs big and little. If manufacturing jobs are here we can make sure that child labor isn’t used, that people are paid a fair wage. Things like needlepoint belts with college and golf symbols won’t be made by children in Vietnam. As far a palm oil is concerned find something else to put in your crappy cereal. (Where are the posers who were outraged over pate de foie grau but don’t give a damn about eight year olds harvesting palm oil anyway?)
For the record, I find that Tump supporters understood it was about more than buzz words.
