“Castro has done some great things for the world”
Pathetic. Even when factoring in the whole … not a liberal in your 20’s not having a heart thing … But, seriously. He has HELD the Cuban people PRISONER on his island “paradise”. How could anyone who JAILS and takes away the most basic personal FREEDOM be thought of as having done something good AT ALL ? So he “fed” the people a ration of beans and rice (for which they stand in line for hours to collect) … as IF that compensates for holding the people hostage to his corrupt,oppressive rule ?
Please tell me a SINGLE thing this EVIL man has done for … the world ?
One reason I left the church was because of the wide-spread support of “liberation” theology. That “freedom” was spread by Castro and his thugs.

So how does one explain this way of thinking? Stupidity? Immaturity? Naivety? A combination of these things? These people simply aren’t qualified to choose between Trump and Castro. First of all, Castro had decades to put his special brand of evil on display and he certainly didn’t disappoint. Trump, on the other hand, has not yet been given a chance at governance. So how can anyone possibly pick Castro over Trump? Secondly, these pampered students have absolutely no idea how ordinary Cubans fared under Castro’s repressive regime. Their idea of oppression is not being given a new car by their parents.
A value-neutral, critical thinking-free, altruism-soaked socialist education system putting out pretty much the expected product. What would be interesting to see, I suspect, is how similar are the attitudes of their parents, representing the earlier generation of the same problem.
Sheeple with sheeple instincts. The left loves the mindless group think that inhabits higher education.

The list is long: almost every Leader in the western world sends their condolences to the enslaved people of Cuba,who can’t even cheer and say,”good riddance”.
I was particularly shocked but not surprised by our beloved PM’s declining to attend the sonofabitch’s funeral.
I guess Trudeau’s brain,Gerald Butts, figured he has pissed off and embarrassed too many Canadians already.
I guess that it is a GREAT THING … to tear-down the visible, tactile, Berlin Wall. But the same turd brains who cheer LIBERATION of the Eastern bloc. … are indifferent to the Cuban’s Moat of Mexico. Heyyy maaaannn … nobody is walling the Cubans in … maaaaannn.
Academia and the major media have done an EXCELLENT job of re-educating those students.

Probably a bit unfair to centre out these young inexperienced students; a similar poll among CBC producers and reporters would yield similar attitudes, and the latter are supposed to be professional news specialists. Or opinions among senior Liberal functionaries and MPs. The marathon of positive platitudes broadcast Sat would illustrate the CBC position and we haven’t even got to the funeral yet. I feel badly for GG Johnson having to attend, but he was no doubt ordered there by Jr who no doubt is in a pique because he can’t be there himself
His handlers have read the Canadian reaction to his eulogy, not to mention world wide ridicule.
No reason to guess why “Just Not Ready” beat an individual freedom defending Harper. My two Manitoban NDP supporting nephews want their free lunches.
I too would rather Castro than Trump…at the receiving end of a firing squad.
To these students, Castro is the gold standard by which Trump can be judged when he finally is sworn in.
So, to ensure that he doesn’t do worse than Castro, Trump must ensure that:
a) fewer of his enemies are executed by the US legal system for dissent,
b) fewer of his enemies are murdered without trial for dissent by his government,
c) fewer of his critics are jailed and tortured for their criticism,
d) every US citizen receives the same minimal medical care that Cubans do in Cuba,
e) fewer corporations are siezed and run by the US government,
f) fewer media organisations are shut down with their employees jailed
f) no law-abiding US citizen is prevented from fleeing to Cuba if they feel repressed by their government,
The US population is much larger than Cuba, so the comparisons should be done on a % basis.
Then these students will have nothing to complain about when they think Fidel Castro is the better person and thus the standard to which Trump must limit himself in governing the US.
Numbers don’t matter to SJWs. Their thinking is, to paraphrase Stalin, “the death of one man is a tragedy, but the death of a million is a statistic”.
To them, external displays of virtue are what count. Trump has been portrayed as a *ist and a *phobe, where “*” represents whichever group feels oppressed or offended by his remarks. Fidel Castro, on the other hand, is seen as nowhere as bad because he apparently never said such things, largely because reporting them could have been hazardous to one’s career or life.
If Christians, even devout Christians, can go to university/college with their faith intact and after a year of listening to professors berating and breaking down that faith become just as strong unbelievers denying everything they knew before, what chance do these students have? None.

You nailed it perfectly. We see the results of Stalin’s fifth column penetrating our education system all around us. Most of you have heard my story about a friend and a late step-brother who encountered communists in their teacher training schools in the late 1950s.
Other than a few isolated journalistic efforts the media never has a bad story about communists and the misery they have caused since 1917. Walter Duranty was probably the most famous western journalist apologist for Stalin.
The students are just articulating what they have learned from Marxist teachers ever since their early grade school years.

30 yrs ago we would never have seen the hand wringing and complete breakdown of people if they lost an election. A HOckey game, yea…but an election..?? And even before the new President has even attempted to do anything…it simply blows me away. Like watching 5-6 yr olds working themselves up into a fit of screaming – crying – hyperventilating rage because their brother wont let them play with their favorite toy truck or some other item.

And WHY would anybody expect any other opinions from STUDENTS. They have been subjected to more than a decade of socialist brain-washing by the marxist educrats who, BTW, are generally too stupid and ignorant themselves to know their own agenda is the utopianistic BS of marxist philosophy. I’ve heard so many teachers tell me there is really no difference between communism and capitalism. Which of course is true if you just ignore the ~ 150 to 200 MILLION citizens who were murdered by their own governments under various marxist regimes.
