  1. So apparently we are not allowed as Canadians to find behaviour unacceptable. I find it unacceptable to treat women or your wife as chattel . I find it an acceptable to beat or abuse them . I find it unacceptable to sexually assault someone because of the way they are dressed . I find it an acceptable to kill some one because they have offended your honor. It is unacceptable to kill or abuse some one because of their sexual orientation . It is unacceptable to come to a country and take advantage of their support systems. It is unacceptable to come to Canada and expect the country to change to your view of life. And anyone who believes these things ( but not limited to these ) should stay where they are.

  2. One slight detail here, will applicants be truthful? They can agree to anything to get into the country and do something else entirely once here. All we can do is emphasize strongly our societal values, the laws that protect them and consequences like deportation. We can’t do much more in a free society.

  3. Judging by the all the yapping and howling from the Ivory Tower Trash, I guess it’s safe to assume that it’s currently NOT being done. Quelle surprise.

  4. As a naturalized Canadian, I’m offended and appalled by the lax attitude that the government has displayed on this matter. As I mentioned in the previous thread, why was the process that my parents went through good enough 50 years ago but considered excessive and prejudicial now?
The result of current policy is that we have a generation of immigrants who neither know about the history, government, and laws of this country, nor are they expected to care.
From what I’ve gathered from millennials I’ve spoken to, that’s not being taught in school any more, either, so there’s no point in expecting any of those immigrants, or their children, to gain that knowledge that way.
Is it a crime to expect that the same requirements for being in this country when we came over more than 50 years ago be applied to those arriving here now?

  5. Didn’t the junior French chef say only baby potatoes are acceptable and to plow under the rest of the deplorable garden?

  6. In his famous “ich bin ein Berliner” speech, Kennedy said, “Two thousand years ago, the proudest boast was ‘civis romanus sum'”. That’s because being a Roman citizen was a privilege and, along with it, came rights and responsibilities. Only those who were worthy of such status were granted it.
Somehow, that concept seems to have been forgotten by der Kertoffel and his band of barking seals (sometimes known as his cabinet), if they were even aware of it at all.

  7. 33 % still don’t get it
Multiculturalism does not make a country stronger. It only increases diversity as long as they refuse to assimilate and accept the society that they were so eager to enter.

  8. Canadians, likely even SDA commentators, couldn’t agree on “Canadian Values” (the term evokes memories of Chretien mumbling nonsense out of the side of his mouth).
Concerned (above) described the problem of the Islamic elephant in the room and Liz pointed out the futility of requiring Muslims signing on to anything at odds with their pathology likely resulting in the Islam sanctioned use of taqqiya (lying).
I prefer the universal displaying of the Mohammad cartoons from every window in the Country. Until that happens, the Jihad just keeps coming.

  9. Liz:
Questions can be put to applicants in such a manner as to reveal the truth. Just ask any cop or psychologist. And at the first hint of a lie an application should be denied.

    First step, first.
We also need to enforce the laws that already exist like human trafficking, drug and other contraband smuggling along with a plethora of foreign organized crime plaguing Canada.

Canada has always been an Islamic terrorist sanctuary country from raising money, money laundering, recruitment, hiding terrorists/war criminals and a safe haven for strategic planning.
We are a laughing stock to the world for our naivety and hypocrisy.

  11. So, there are many self-identified lefties who support vigilant vetting of immigrants and yet some elected Conservatives are actually opposed to it?
What’s wrong with that freakin’ picture? These pricks aren’t conservatives, they are slaves to political correctness masquerading as a different brand.

  12. What a coincidence,95% of the media and politicians were in the 33%.
We need to go the red carpet at TIFF to get the true sentiment of Canadians.

  13. Strange what they get worked up about in the clattering class.
    Remember the “sexual emergency plea”?
One of Justin’s people suffered an erection while using the public swimming facilities, so in line with his faith and cultural beliefs,he grabbed a young boy and used him as we would use toilet paper.
This stunningly offensive behaviour seemed to attract very little condemnation from our Presstitutes, just as the rapist, extortionist of schoolgirls in Montreal was given very little coverage.
Just as sexual mutilation of young women seems just fine with the abortionists and pedophiles who claim their opinion matters.
Perhaps our “intellectual superiors” favour the reintroduction of slavery, especially for women and children.
After all Canada’s showpiece of cultural success, is the Apartheid System for Natives, where women and children suffer the most.
Can’t help believing that Progressives are perverts first, community members much later.

  14. I know the feeling. I was shocked that Rona Ambrose opposed screening. She’s only there for the short haul, the best would be to keep her trap shut.
A lot of my warped leftists friends believe that they’re going to go to a place like Syria or Afghanistan and take ”the po’ people” from a ghetto, bring them to Toronto or Winnipeg without screening, and ”sensitize” them like you would street urchins from a Charles Dickens novel.
Well guess what? A lot of them have already been sensitized to become Christian and Western haters. Can you ”repickle” a cucumber twice? What are they going to sensitizes them to?? Our idiotic PM who wastes weekends sniffing anus at gay parades and taking selfies of himself? In Islam, homosexuality is a serious sin and a criminal offence! Vanity is also a sin!!
Dreamers! The whole lot of them!

  15. A Conservative M.P., a pediatric orthopedic surgeon, running for the Conservative Party leadership outwits the MMSM and self-appointed talking head elite.
This race is finally beginning to pick up steam!

  16. What I have difficulty reconciling is how anyone can support
Islamic beliefs on one hand and the LGBT crowd on the other.
It seems to me the two are not and never will be compatible.

  17. “One slight detail here, will applicants be truthful? They can agree to anything to get into the country and do something else entirely once here.”
This has been my point ever since Zunera Ishaq – not a Canadian citizen – used Canada’s own legal system and cultural insecurity to force her Islamic supremacy on 33 million citizens.
My question then and now was: did she sit before a Canadian Immigration officer with her face covered while being interviewed for her suitability and acceptance? Or did she sit in more westernized garb and give all the expected, politically/socially acceptable answers?
I do believe that skillfully designed questions and human intelligence will enable us to weed out many (but not all) people who while not actively anti-democratic, have greater allegiance to Islam than to the country to which they wish to immigrate.

  18. screening will help, but deportation laws that allow anti canadian, anti western values, and criminal imports to be kicked out without current BS would be even better. Then we would be able to boot drug dealers and pimps out along with Islamic malcontents.
No Guff, there are a lot of “Christians” who would/do put their faith before secular law. There are no sure fire solutions, but they are much better ways than how things are done today.

  19. My grandparents and my wife’s grandparents went through a similar process in the 1920s. At that time the immigration authorities were looking for Bolshevik sympathies, health concerns that might be a drain on Canada’s health system such as it was at the time, and suitability for employment and integration into society. Over the years I have, because of research into various family histories and peripheral information acquired, that a few with Bolo sympathies did make it in. In fact, the son of one, whose immigrant father became a Communist Party member, ended up becoming Justice Minister under an NDP government in Manitoba.
Canadian Observer @ 1:22, bang on. I am keeping track of those so-called conservatives who have lambasted Leitch and will not support them in the leadership race. Rona should have kept her bloody mouth shut, as she exposed herself as primarily concerned about passes today for political correctness rather than as interim leader being watchful for threats to our society.
Gopher, the Laurentian Elite are opposed to the results of Leitch’s survey question. The unwashed appear to be unanimously supportive.
Why does almost every thread end up in Christian bashing?

  20. John Robertson – I’m afraid I don’t recall the appalling events to which you prefer. Can you enlighten me/us?
    Thanks

  21. I had a relative who encountered what many would find appalling views from Trudeau’s favourite migrants.
No one with a brain stem would subscribe to Liberals’ view of Canadian values but surely one can agree that wife-beating and Jew-hatred have no place in Canadian society.
The Liberals are willing to turn a blind because they want the votes and believe that women and Jews have singular purposes.
Does every Canadian feel that way? It’s time for more polls to reflect how nauseating they find Islamism. If not, we’re in a spot of socio-political bother.

  22. That’s quite the little obsession you have there NME. It’s a rare comment from you that doesn’t result in an anti-Christian or at least anti-religious response.
So some Christians put their beliefs putting their faith before secular law. Better they should just accept aborting unborn human babies, because “it’s the law” or embracing homosexual marriage, because “it’s the law”. The fact is, they obey the law regardless of how religiously repugnant it may be to them, unlike Islamists who demand that Canadian lawmakers and citizens subjugate themselves to the law of Islam.

  23. Two-thirds of Canadians want prospective immigrants to be screened for “anti-Canadian” values, a new poll reveals…
that is because the other third is immigrants
and that also means Trudeau will accelerate the process of replacing us with immigrants so that survey like this will always get the results the left wants to see
they can not force us to like immigrants but they can replace us with immigrants.
    and they are.

  24. Work, intelligence, and merit aren’t “Canadian values” as far as the Star is concerned. I suppose I’m not Canadian…or the Star isn’t Canadian.

  25. John Chittick said: “Canadians, likely even SDA commentators, couldn’t agree on “Canadian Values” (the term evokes memories of Chretien mumbling nonsense out of the side of his mouth).”
Oh, I don’t know. You could probably get everybody to agree that women are not property, that killing your own daughters over “honor” is a no-no, and the FGM practiced by some Mooselimbs is an atrocity.
That would be enough to be getting on with for a start. If you can’t sign off on that, we send you back home to Buttcrackistan with a welt from a hockey stick upside your fez. Just because.
I’m informed by my betters that this view of mine is beyond the pale racism. Oh well.
    The Deplorable Phantom

  26. If it’s unacceptable to keep people out of Canada merely because they hold values incompatible with ours, how can we justify deporting law-abiding citizens, who have lived here productively and harmlessly for decades, on the grounds that they were once Nazis?

  27. This is what Trudeau means by remaking Canada as a ‘post-national’ country. Any criticism or objections to immigration policy is labelled hatespeech and condemned. In Europe the state literally takes such critics to court. Generally now borders and immigration law are being ignored, not enforced, and the Left wants them dissolved. Canada took in 28,000 Syrians this year, with likely more scheduled. It wasn’t for compassion. It’s all part of the borderless postnational dream: to un-make nation-states into postmodern transnational sectors run by hyper-rich bureaucracies. That’s why the Liberals never stop genuflecting to the UN.
