Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Do we blame Trump yet, or should we wait until he is elected?
Now imagine all those (eventually) empty 40 ft. containers going back to Asia with NO CARGO IN THEM, because we export very little that travels in a container to Asia. It should now be possible to negotiate a container price from Vancouver or Seattle to Shanghai or Seoul for about $50! …Too bad that we have nothing manufactured that Asia wants to buy from us.
Overcapacity and declining revenue = poor business environment
I’m sure the other leading SIX shipping companies will be happy to pick up their business and fill their ships rather than having them sit idle.
For all the digital age, you still need to ship all those Samsung phones to the folks who are buying them.
Shipping won’t go away, the new business model will be to ship more for less…

Of course nobody believes that the economy is doing great after
the 2008 Great Recession forced the Americans to swallow the
whale. Taxpayers needed to account for the political profligacy
engendered by the stupendously stupid loan program.
Let’s see 19.5 trillion and the Obama-Nation™ racks up a financial
skid mark of 10 trillion for his two terms.
Hope and spare change folks!
Hey shippers can you spare a dime?
How do you spell steady state?
Deflationary environment countered by massive printing.
That about covers the last decade…

The bankruptcy was mentioned briefly on last night’s edition of John Batchelor’s show. The comment was made that with one less carrier, shipping prices will go up.
Not all the containers are empty. Stolen luxury automobiles have to get shipped out somehow.
This is just the tip of the iceberg folks. The problem is out of control
debt and that applies to companies, countries and individuals. The question
that needs answering is how much longer will producers accept a coloured
piece of paper called the world’s reserve currency that the Fed can
create out of thin air in unlimited quantities for their products. The
house of cards is beginning to collapse. It starts slowly and then suddenly
the world changes without warning and the sheeple won’t know what hit them.
“the spice must flow.”
Wexler: Because, Agent Salinger, your idea of justice is an illusion. Don’t you understand the very system you serve and protect will never allow anything to happen to Skarssen or the bank? On the contrary, the system guarantees the IBCC’s safety, because everyone is involved.
Salinger: What do you mean everyone?
Wexler: Hezbollah, CIA, the Colombian drug cartels, Russian organized crime, governments of Iran, Germany, China and your government; every multi-national corporation, everyone; they all need banks like the IBCC so that they can operate within the black and grey latitudes. And that is why your investigative efforts have been ignored or undermined. That is why you and I will be quietly disposed of before any case against the bank ever reaches a court of law.
Salinger: So what are we supposed to do? Are we supposed to give up and accept that this is the way of the world? I’m not gonna do that. I still believe, I know, that there has to be a way to bring down this bank and you are gonna help me.
Wexler: You understand, if you really want to stop the IBCC, you won’t be able to do it within the boundaries of your system of justice. You will have to go outside. Once you do, there will always be collateral damage. Could you sacrifice your own ideals for the greater good?

Don’t touch that dial! Exploding Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phablets recalled immediately.

Koh Dong-jin, the president of Samsung’s mobile arm, told the press today that there was “a tiny problem in the manufacturing process” which caused the issue.
According to the BBC, Dong-jin said: “It will cost us so much it makes my heart ache. Nevertheless, the reason we made this decision is because what is most important is customer safety.”
Well if the Norks don’t nuke the South Koreans their burning Galaxy Note 7s will burn a hole right through your back pocket… :0

dastardly;
You are so right! Listening to Campbell, apparently the Japanese government now owns 1/3 of the stock on their exchange. Same thing happening in Euroland where governments are buying the stock of their banks which are on the brink of bankruptcy.
None of these governments can afford a collapse as their pension plans and the plans of private providers would all fail on any sustained market correction/collapse. They are actually probably already failing. Spreads have been shrinking for years.
Posters were talking about shipping containers going back to Asia empty. A local company ships hay cubes to Japan for dairy feed. The Japanese tend to find quality problems when they know the $ advantage is in the producer’s favor.
Remember over the years the crackpots who would sell everything because the end of the world was nigh?
For a year or so, I have relied on my pick which is September 2016. No date, just sometime this month. But, I’m not selling up – just in case on September 30th I find I was also wrong.
I know the feeling. We could export maple syrup!! Actually tastes pretty good on an egg roll!!
