Two more Trudeau promises bite the dust.
Experts say it’s not surprising that the Liberal government will blow through its initial projected deficit of $10 billion this coming year, and even less surprising that it won’t find its way back to balanced books by 2019.
Those nannies must cost a pile.

You cannot put a price on kindness. Canada has now a much more kinder, gentler soul in the heart of our nation. Nothing says we care more about the future of the children than spending wildly today and bankrupting their tomorrow. Everyone repeat after me; Stephen Harper Mean, Justin Trudeau Dreamy. Please excuse me while I go wretch…
I am willing to bet the deficit will go above 25B for 2016 and even more for 2017. Elections have consequences folks… er I mean it is all HArper’s fault.
A drop in the bucket eh? So you actually beleive they will keep it to 90 billion? Sunny Ways ! Well maybe not. Floods start out as drops .
Back when his daddy, good old PET, was in charge, people used to tell this joke: “How can you tell when Pierre Trudeau’s lying? His lips move.”
Like father, like son…..
This will most definitely be damaging to the well-being of future generations. Jutin is spending money like there is no tomorrow — maybe he knows something we don’t. Or perhaps he just thinks he does.
“Armine Yalnizyan, a senior economist with the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, agreed that exceeding $10 billion in yearly deficit spending is not hugely worrying – even if that spending were to total $90 billion over the next four years”.
Not worrying for leftist think tanks, or Liberals who have no concepts of basic fiscal realities. A few months ago Jr was prattling about Liberals being the party that ran balanced budgets. This flies in the face of the historical record showing PET running a perennial deficit. His mountain of debt was what got Canada into trouble in the first place; it seems his son is determined to follow his misguided policies.
Notice how media pundits are now downplaying any negative effects of continued deficits, the same ones who criticized PM Harper for slight deficits.
“Armine Yalnizyan, a senior economist with the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, agreed that exceeding $10 billion in yearly deficit spending is not hugely worrying – even if that spending were to total $90 billion over the next four years.”
Ah, the CCPA, the media’s go to people for leftist drivel.
Socialist.ca link to the CCPA as a favoured source of news.

Only one Liberal promise in any given campaign can actually be believed, and that of course is extra money for the CBC.
Everything else is Lucy to Charley Brown sort of stuff.
Not that it comes as news to anyone here, but you never know, the gullible may be looking in. We’ll never know because they won’t be able to solve the captcha.
The bio on the CCPA’s Armine:
“Armine obtained her M.A. in Industrial Relations from University of Toronto and has a bilingual B.A. in economics from Glendon College, York University, including a year’s study in economics at Université de Bordeaux, France. She proudly received the Atkinson Foundation’s inaugural Award for Economic Justice.”
An economics BA from a university ranked about 450th in the world and she is the expert who comforts us that debt doesn’t matter.
As Kate always says, ladies and gentlemen, our intellectual superiors.
The promises are far-fetched?
No kidding!!
How about the results of the election were far-fetched?
How about the election was won on the basis of a false narrative and under false pretenses?
We need recall legislation.
Miss Prime Minister Harper yet?
Armine cited above has a BA in economics from a university ranked about 450th in the world.
She’s not an economist any more than a BA in history makes me a historian.
Our intellectual superiors indeed.
What?
Turdeau was lying?
The Liberal Party of Canada would dare to lie to voters, promise anything to anybody as long as they gain power?
Surely you jest, these “honourable” members do not have a history of doing such things????
The budget is a work of fiction, especially when the selectively honest progressives hold the purse.
Funny how even the Libtards cannot deny that the CPC finally managed to balance the federal budget, with a slight surplus even.
Yet every time the liberals lose power their claims of financial responsibility turn out to be smoke and mirrors
The scum infesting our media outlets sold voters this product.
Campaign fraud and false advertising work.
On trusting dummies.
So when the dummies realize they got Gubered…are they gonna thank the Media Guild of Canada?
Or whatever their campaign name was.
.
Get with the program folks. He had to say something to his mediocracy enablers, to present the illusion he had a friggin clue what he was talking about. He knew he wouldn’t be challenged during the election, since the leftist fawning media were addled by their nonexistent knowledge, partiality or ethics. Anyone using critical thought, and a calculator – neither of which he has – knew he was spouting BS. Too bad the mediocracy was too busy covering the Duffy trial and the niqab. Fiscal realities are so passé, don’t you know, better to fight climate change, which doesn’t shoot back, than terrorists who do.
Oh, I forgot, that would be “vengeance.” He thinks we’re better than that. His superficiality, stupidity and arrogance knows no bounds.
His deficits will easily top $20b this year, rising to $30b next year, for easily $100b added to the federal debt. No he will never balance the budget. No worries, it balances itself, like magic, sort of like government “investment” and “job creation,” but never from the cabin boy who thinks leadership involves wasting $billions of hardworking people’s tax dollars. Change, for the worse, but change, as promised.
Right, $100b is a “drop in the bucket” according to the fools at CCPA. Unless an “extreme right winger” spends it on defense of something. Then again those morons think higher interest rates cause inflation. That would be wrong apparently; the money must be wasted on pet leftie projects.
Make crazy promises, break crazy promises.
Even more delusional, that Trulander thinks he has a shot at the UN Security Council upon which sits China, the country he most admires.
To hell with the future generation. You seem to forget that today’s youth voted en masse for this lisping faggot. Screw them.
They will have earned their future.
And that includes my idiot son who saw fit to place a “Anyone but Harper” sign on his lawn. He’s out of the will.
When will Justin come out via the CBC and let the proles know that his dreams and his direction are not just empty promises, they are for real and do a selfie video singing “it’s just an opeless fancy”?
These guys will be blowing 100 billion dollar deficits by the time their through. There are some serious pockets to line here folks. They’re hungry after so long out of office.
Voters don’t care.
“leftist think tanks”
And oxymoron with an emphasis on moron.
It looks like the Nobel Prize for Economics is out.
Whine, whine, whine…blah, blah, blah…Small “c” conservatives are whiners (actually moreso than the leftists). You will never see conservatives man the barricades and storm city hall, or surround the cops and kick the sh!t out of them…the leftists will do this and for that they have my grudging respect…because it eventually gets them what they want.
After Selfie Boy is done, do you actually think you’ll have anything left to leave to your heirs?
Well, my opinion of that is that conservatives just want to make a living and live in a reasonable environment, while leftists are on a 24/7 mission to create a revolution of some sort in some manner.
Philanthropist, mostly you are right that voters don’t care until their pocket books are hurt too deeply.
Greg G, “They will have earned their future.” Bingo!
How quickly small dead minds forget the former government racking up seven successive deficits in a row (eight if you count the last fudgit budget that pretended to be balanced). One year has over a $50 billion deficit, and Canada’s national debt increase by $150 billion during their reign of “strong, fiscal management.” But yeah, this government has been in power for three months and the house has sat for less than three weeks, so they are bad, bad, bad. And Pierre Trudeau!
And every time Harper spent, you bitches were howling for more spending. And yet, despite your best wishes to ruin the country, he has managed to finally balance the budget, and got the country out of a global recession in shape better than any other developed economy on this planet. Junior got everything handed to him on a silver plate and within months he has managed to turn it all into a crap sandwich in a brown paper bag, so kindly STFU or preferably remove your self from the (shallow end of) gene pool.
Socialist Math
1-2 % of gdp (2 trillion) or 20-40 billion, in debt is but a drop in the sea, but 2% of worldwide greenhouse gas emissions means we have to shut down all fossil fuel activity and economic growth.
Of course the wretched progressive pimps and festering maggots of the Liberal Party Media machine will cover for their idiot boy leader now that they”ve successfully colluded in getting the smarmy superficial idjit elected. The same media assholes who never even questioned the Libranos election cycle narrative of slight deficits of 10 billion a year and then presto the budget balances itself in 2019, tada! I mean what kind of a dipshit moron would believe such horseshit? yet the Media bought it unquestionably and had a huge hand in selling this nonsense to the pathetically stupid Canadian population. Not to worry though because the substitute drama teacher and dope smokin buddy of PM Gerald Butts has his shirt sleeves all rolled up and his collar loosened, just like that punk Oblamey, which means he’s working really really hard and is just a regular guy like the rest of us, or some such horseshit. “Hang in there”, “because its 2015”, “the budget will balance itself”, a story told by an idiot, sold by his media pimps, signifying sweet eff all. Revolution now.
There is no room in the shallow end of the gene pool, since you and the rest of the Con whiners are obviously well ensconced there. As for your right wing revisionism, Harper’s final budget “surplus” turned out to be a deficit; Harper is the one who inherited a surplus from Martin and proceeded to blow it, then claimed in 2008 that “We’re not running a deficit … that’s our policy. We’re not going into deficit.” Some economic genius. A few months later, Canada had a $55 billion deficit. And to this day, we are still in deficit…not because of Trudeau, who has yet to table a budget, but because of incompetent Conservatives who are always the opposite of what they claim to be: Strong fiscal managers? Nope! Supporters of the military? The military hasn’t been this decrepit since 1939…election fraud, intrusive spying on Canadian citizens, deregulation of industry so that people can die while they invest their profits in overseas tax havens…Trudeau will have to try really, really hard to have a government as execrable as the Harper government.
There is something to keep in mind about the government debt cycle.
Back in the 80’s it took almost a decade for the effects to be felt.
Now it only takes half a year before the government has to make drastic cuts to government spending.
And discussing who had a surplus and who didn’t, well thats fine and good. But the question is whats the guy who is supposed to be in charge “right now” doing about it?
It’s not deficit, it’s LOOT
Martin had an easy job because Mulroney brought in the GST. And it was you liberals, dippers and bloc heads that forced Harper to go into deficit at the beginning. Now stop rewriting history.
Joseph, your question is most valid. just what is the guy in charge doing? the answer is more of the same on steroids. in my lifetime not one PM has reduced the size or cost of government and I have been around for the average human life span.
I love that fall-back comment “all we want is to make a living..” By “making a living” you feed the beast that takes more from you and the Leftists laugh…because they get what they want from the beast by beating the beast then just threatening the beast. Ever wonder why the cops NEVER break up a Muslim riot…or only the charge the non-Muslim? Because the beast is afraid of them…the Muslims worked hard to build up that fear.
What most low information liberal voters do not realize is that once liberals are elected the promises they made are no longer necessary to keep.
Trudeau didn’t say “the budget will balance itself”. This is a conservative half-truth. He actually said…
“Uh, the commitment, uh, needs to be, uh, a commitment to grow, uh, the economy, and, uh, the budget, uh, will balance, uh, itself”.
So Justin knows that economic growth is necessary to balance the budget, he knows Canada’s economy isn’t growing, all he has done thus far is promise to spend even more money, he has offered no strategy to grow our economy, he hasn’t even tabled a budget yet, and finally he is admitting the deficit will be much worse than $10 billion this year.
Those who like Trudeau’s progress thus far are the same people who criticized Harper for running deficits, are the same people who praised Obama for having the “courage” to run large deficits. It’s hard to believe but these people are now running the country … into the ground.
BTW the USA is not suddenly running large deficits like Canada is about to so it can’t be a global economic issue, although I am certain Trudeau will blame deteriorating world economic conditions for his massive budget deficits, thus resetting the expectation bar to absolute zero Kelvin and from there, after 4 years in power and $100 billion in deficits, he can claim “we spent it on you, Canada”.
Remember that Trudeau’s own government reported Canada was still in surplus to the end of November. The full amount of any deficit belongs 100% to him. The price of energy is way down. Why isn’t Canada thriving? Oil was at its best only 5 – 6 % of the economy. It sucks to be Alberta but why isn’t everyone else carrying the country for a change?
Is anyone surprised?
“The budget will balance itself.” is up there in the all time lies category right next to:
“The cheque is in the mail.”
“Of course I’ll respect you in the morning.” and,
” I won’t …. mouth.”
So whats with selling off all that gold at fire-sale prices, kid? The Chinese and Indians are buying as fast as they can.
Oh yeah, that’s right – 90% of that 2 trillion economy is bits and bytes in storage somewhere.
To emoters like Iberia Harper caused the sub prime induced credit crash, and of course cratering commodity prices. That’s what he inherited, fool. Martin skimmed the cream of a booming economy and vastly increased government pilfering of pension plans and EI. He only did so btw because the IMF would have come calling if he didn’t, as Preston Manning was right after all.
Harper was prudent in a volatile economic environment and managed to balance present needs requiring a large deficit to the need to regain a balanced approach to budgets. He managed to do what Justin will never do, while his dad ran up deficits of $130b in today’s dollars during his tenure. While doing so he took the working poor off the tax rolls with the WITB, CEO, while helping families with his FTC and UCCB. Justin wants to take some of that away and join the provinces in hurting the most vulnerable in our society with carbon taxes and rising electricity prices.
Oh yeah, Canada is back, very soon, to the dark ages of his father, whose administration’s legacy of debt endures to this day (yes, rescheduled debt is still debt, bub, with debt service charges borrowed as well by the PET regime).
Lots of history to go over, but revisionists like Iberia (really creepy name btw), will always be there with their sycophantic support, of course claiming the higher intellectual and moral plane while making their opponents’ arguments for them.
“Harper’s final budget “surplus” turned out to be a deficit; …”
Bull$hit, it was a surplus until the nation had a temper tantrum and elected Justine, this immediately triggered capital flight, hence deficit. And that surplus was achieved while nine out of ten provincial governments and most municipal governments were doing their best to sabotage it
“Harper is the one who inherited a surplus from Martin …”
That surplus that was created entirely by gutting the military and dumping healthcare funding on provinces and it was achieved during a period global economic growth.
“and proceeded to blow it,”
But enough about your mother trying to get a promotion
“A few months later, Canada had a $55 billion deficit. “
As did everyone in the developed world. And under Harper’s rule, Canada was the only developed economy that dug itself out of the deficit.
“And to this day, we are still in deficit…not because of Trudeau,”
Yes precisely exactly because of him. He is the single most important reason we’re in deficit. When business sees that the country is run by a substitute drama teacher who believes that the budget will balance itself when you grow the economy from the hart, business runs for cover.
And again, overtime a libtard opens is vile trap and starts barking about Harper’s spending said libtard deserves to have its trap shut by a generous application of a Louisville slugger. Every time Harper spent you bitches were howling for more spending while calling his spending increases “cuts”. The only kind of spending increases you did not want to see was on military. So how about a nice big cup of shut the f4ck up while adults are talking?
Economic growth through increased taxation and bigger government, removing resources from productive sectors never happens, so, uh, under Trudeau, the uh, budget will not uh, balance itself.
Saying Trudeau didn’t say the budget will balance itself by stating he said the uh budget will uh, balance itself isn’t very convincing.
