  1. Apparently for morally superior progressives, based on comments at theRebel, it is all about the issue of Mental Health, not the spokesperson.
It is completely irrelevant that Mary mocked someone else’s mental health issues to score political points for her progressive friends. Not only that, she mocked Conservative Rob Ford, so she was justified.
No wonder Wynne was re-elected, Notley won in Alberta, and Justin “Terrorist Supporter” Trudeau is PM.

  2. This is hardly a surprise. I wouldn’t give old Marg a plugged nickle but unfortunately we all do every time she appears on CBC with her nasty mouth a-flappin’.

  3. Well, I for one support Mary getting help with her mental health problems.
Nothing wrong for showing compassion toward those that need help.

  4. When I dumped Bell, their India based telemarketers harassed me for a year
via my cell phone while “Bell executives” were offering me all their love and
great “come back” deals via snail mail. A real head scratcher.
Very, very, “unusual” thought processes seem to be the norm there.

  5. migod.
I had to see that to believe she of all people would do such an about face.
she did a presentation mucho years ago describing her hideous upbringing that led to her alcoholism. must have affected her memory.
I did stop gandering at the 22 minutes thing long long ago. and that air farce thing too. is it still on? I have no idea. Jessica Holmes was brilliant but after she left, that’s about when I tired of the retreaded stuff.
migod. Mary Walsh the poster child for surviving mental illness to do something like that. facilitated by Bell another Cdn institution.

  6. I try to avoid the mentally ill. I worry about my personal safety. Clara Hughes goes on and on about mental illness. She only won 6 Olympic medals, sucks to be her. I do worry about all the crazies that get thrown on the street without support. Nuthouses used to protect them but locking people up to protect them went out of fashion. Now they die on the streets instead.

  7. I would like to know WHO was the person at CBC that thought Mary Walsh had any comedic ability.Like fellow traveller Rick Mercer, she has one schtick, and anyone who considers either of them “funny” is comedically challenged.
Allah almighty,Walsh is a typical CBC untalented hack, employed only because of the taxpayer subsidy to that network. If the CBC didn’t exist, Walsh would probably be working on another government financed social justice project.
Her bio is typical Canadian “big frog small pond” stuff: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Walsh_%28actress%29
And Mercer, more of the same, minimally talented people who make big bucks off the Canadian taxpayer: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_Mercer
Compare either of these two trough hogs to Russell Peters, and you won’t believe they are even considered comedians.

  8. Ok, so then just so we’re clear… you guys believe that addicts have zero choice. That they are merely victims of the drug and bare no responsibility for their actions whatsoever. I assume you will now stop calling them junkie scum, and supporting policies that let them die in the ditch?
Of course you won’t that little sleazebag Ezra is simply trying to politicize a fundraising effort. What a scumbag.
To be clear… I appreciate the difficulties addicts must go through. But I don’t believe the get a total free pass. I do believe that they are somewhat responsible for their actions. And I believe a bit of humour is acceptable as a means of dealing with the behaviours the foist upon us.
Ford was 100% fair game for mocking, because he made his problems our problems for years. Further, his followers (that would be you guys) enabled his bad decisions over and over again. The only thing consistent in your actions was the fact that no matter how badly Ford acted, you would continually move the goal posts to excuse his behaviour. Kinda like how Trump said he could literally shoot somebody and still not lose votes.
    That’s the conservative mind. Scary.

  9. I think our politicians should be subject to shame and mocking….so I am ok with what she did, although I don’t find her that funny and the whole Ford thing was a massive pile on, but hey Rob Ford made his bed.
That being said, Bell should drop her a spokesperson, she is not appropriate despite her own past issues. If the point of the campaign is to show compassion she didn’t….so maybe Mary better figure out which side of the issue she wants to be on.
Until then, Bell has a PR problem and should walk away.
    Stephen

  10. John,
I know you lefties are not big on using logic but try to understand this. The issue is not whether Walsh was right or wrong or justified in mocking Ford.
It’s really much simpler. Walsh is an addict who publicly mocked and ridiculed another addict. Now she’s been hired as a spokesperson for a program which advocates not mocking addicts and others with mental health issues.
Can you see the disconnect there, John?

  11. Speaking of the CBC, aka the Colostomy Bag Catastrophe, why exactly do we have a State funded entity producing ‘comedies’ anyhow?
I looked at the Magna Carta, I even checked on the back of it, and I didn’t see that listed as one of the core responsibilities of government.
Also, liberalism is a mental disease, so is this just a way of funneling money to the Liberal party?

  12. As an alcoholic, she is uniquely qualified to call Ford out. She clearly takes a “own your demons” approach to the issue of alcoholism and mental illness.
Don’t like it? Don’t donate to the campaign. But my god… stop being so pathetic as to continue to defend Ford’s bloated, booze-riddled corpse. I have little sympathy for a man who dragged everyone along for his vodka-fueled ride. At no point did he accept responsibility for his actions. Not to his city. Not to his wife. And not to his kids. It’s great that he seems to be on the mend. I wish him well. But his current sobriety doesn’t excuse his former behaviour. Nor does it excuse the fact that his supporters refused to acknowledge what was going on.

  13. The CBC produced “comedies” are really political satire skewed heavily to favour the Liberal Left. They’ll have a tough time finding material now that their Liberals are in power.

  14. You still don’t see the disconnect. You’re overwhelmed by your Ford Derangement Syndrome. But let’s try one more time to get through:
    1. Mental Health and Addiction is a serious concern, and we shouldn’t make fun of those afflicted.
    2. Mary made fun of someone afflicted (ignore that it’s someone you hate for now).
    3. Mary has been hired as a spokesperson for a campaign trying to relay point 1 to the masses.
This is what we call hypocritical preaching. It’s like Al Gore demanding we cut the use of our fossil fuel consumption by traveling the world on private jets preaching about it in person, instead of video conferencing.

  15. 1. Mental Health and Addiction is a serious concern, and we shouldn’t make fun of those afflicted.
So why were you guys claiming that Ford was fine the whole time he was in office?
    2. Mary made fun of someone afflicted (ignore that it’s someone you hate for now).
You can hardly call Walsh’s comments bullying. She said, “put the plug in the jug” and talked about alcoholic’s lies, which is what alcoholics do to cover up their behaviour. And dude… she’s a recovering alcoholic. I think she gets to talk tough. You guys have the thinnest skin imaginable.
    3. Mary has been hired as a spokesperson for a campaign trying to relay point 1 to the masses.
The only people who seem to have a problem with this are far right goofs who denied all along that Ford had a problem in the first place. Don’t like it, don’t donate.

  16. So why were you guys claiming that Ford was fine the whole time he was in office?
Oh, look, Alinskyite tactics 101. How original.
I don’t recall anyone claiming that Ford was all right. I recall lots of people claiming that Ford was being unfairly smeared (which he was) and that it was difficult to find the specific substance abuse allegations credible given the storm of made-up smears that were being fired at him daily. And I recall many people pointing out that whatever his personal problems, it didn’t seem to be stopping him from being a damned effective mayor who did more to drag Toronto back from the fiscal abyss than any of his predecessors.
But go on, keep screaming BOOOOOOOOSSHHH – er, sorry, FOOOOOOOOOOORRRDDD – like he’s Emmanuel Goldstein or whatever. Makes it easy to spot the loons.

  17. If we have such thin skin, where are our safe spaces? I’ve been microaggessed by John and counter argue “shut up!”

  18. John,
MW was hardly engaging in tough talk therapy.
For sure she recognized the behaviours but I don’t think she was engaging in what the Bell campaign is seeking. So its not about not agreeing with the Lets Talk campaign and nor donating, in fact its a worthy message and charity.
MW’s actions are contradictory to the campaign. I have no trouble with her comedy and I have have no trouble with the campaign. But in this case Mary Walsh doesn’t belong as a public face of the campaign. IS she going to claim she cared about Ford and was just doing perfermonace art intervention to help him???
To be clear, Ford was an addict (perhaps still is), more than many knew. He engaged in addicts behaviours and his world came tumbling down. Do you think her stunt helped him come to that realization faster or slower, in a more humane way or not?
She is the wrong spokesperson for the message of this campaign.

  19. Rob Ford on his worst day in office was better at being mayor of Toronto than McGuinty and Wynn were and are on their best day of being premier of Ontario. Not even close.

  20. What a petty, shallow, borderline illiterate you are John (“bare responsibility”?). Whatever are you smoking? (How’s that for a bit of humour?).
I am amazed when you simply throw whatever demented nonsense comes to your mind hoping to see what sticks, although I must admit it has some entertainment value. Why bother commenting when the topics are so beyond your grasp? Hopefully you’re just being silly on purpose, right? A provincial intellect, indeed.

  21. Rob In no way was Rob Ford “smeared”. He was treated with exactly the amount of contempt an elected official deserves for such outrageous shenanigans. We’re talking about a guy who was a serial wife beater, a drunk, and crack fiend who endangered his children. He habitually lied about his behaviour, and his activities.
And yes… people claimed that Ford was just “fine”, or at least that his behaviour was ok, and required no excuses or modification. Seriously guys… all you have to do is look at the dummy patrol that was “Ford Nation”.
And no. In no way was he a good mayor. He was Canada’s shame. He was literally a slack-jawed troglodyte who rolled back the clock on one of North America’s most progressive cities. Because to be clear… it’s liberal policy that makes Canada a great place to live. Not the failed Taliban-esque policies by the current batch of moronic drivel that passes for conservatism these days.
But hey… that still didn’t stop Steve from trotting him out in a desperate and pathetic attempt to win the election. Face it guys… conservatives always lose eventually. If they didn’t, we’d still be living in the trees. (Not that many of you believe we were in the trees in the first place.)

  22. “conservatives always lose eventually”
As do Liberals. It’s called democracy. Christ man, no disrespect, but you’re such an ahole. Try to get along.

  23. Sophie Trudeau mixing a bloody menstrual Mary while singing a self written self absorbed blues ditty would have been classier than Canada’s Rosie O’Donnell wanna be.

  24. Mary Walsh is definitely a bully and promotes hatred towards Conservative voters with financial support of CBC.

  25. And Bell Media’s next gesture of magnanimity will be directed to a makeover of said Hag.
Under future consideration is a brain transplant for John.

  26. When the prevailing wisdom of society is group suicide, what is considered mentally ill?,
When over 60% of participating voters chose to support the parasites paradise, what defines a madman?
Course the reject from a CBC “comedy” is a perfect spokes creature for mental instability.
    John should be here partner.

  27. If that fat old hag was yelling and running towards me while I was loading my young children in the car, I would hav beat the shit out of her.Princess Warrior no more.

  28. The idiots in the media have two song sheets they sing from: the first one is them signaling how virtuous they are by showing how concerned they are about bullying, and the second one is them bullying conservatives or anyone they disagree with.
Sometimes they are smart enough to keep the two separate!
No one said it took a big brain to read the news off a teleprompter.

  29. Taliban-esque. You and your progressive female friends are a little late to the fight against the Taliban.

  30. Just intolerant! when our tolerance of anything or anyone, “not a conservative” is given the same treatment, we love to give conservatives,”ffing intolerant” Suck it up piggie Marg, enjoy it , you might meet Nurse Rachett, and. you earned it off us Canadians who have to pay for your shelter the CBC. Is it any wonder that Trump is Trumping the media, losers all around.

  31. John’s comments provide insight into the childish contradictions that comprise the progressive mind set.
John would be 100% behind the Liberal plan to import more people from areas where the Taliban and Isis have found great support amoung the people and yet in the next breath accuse conservatives of being Taliban-esque.

  32. John a typical liberal thinks trough emotions; because he dislikes conservatives and dislikes Rob Ford, the part of his brain that processes logical thought, rejects logic and chooses to instead focus on what feels right to him.
His liberal brain is blocking the fact Marsh is making fun of someone with mental health problems in a campaign that exists to teach us to NOT make fun of people with mental health problems.
His liberal brain is blocking that what Marsh is doing is the opposite of what she should be doing.
This is as clear as a square peg in a square hole and a round peg in a round hole, but his liberal brain rejects reality and replaces it with what feels good to him because he dislikes the square peg.
Liberals are strange animals that only use logic when it feels good, and reject logic it does not feel good.

  33. John, let us exchange the name Rob Ford with Margaret Trudeau and see how far one gets.
If Ford is fair game, why not Trudeau’s dear, old mummy who put her entire self out for all to see?
Either she is fair game or no one is.
And do stop insulting everyone’s intelligence by pretending Rob Ford – as flawed as he was – was never a victim of smearing.
At the end of the day, for liberals like yourself, it matters not WHAT is done but WHO does it.
    Consistency, John. Consistency.

  34. Is Mary Walsh still a thing? Last I saw her was on a commercial for a snoring cure or something. I personally find her frog mouthed broad routine snore inducing. My suggestion would be for Bell to stick with Clara Hughes, a true Canadian champion.

  35. That they are merely victims of the drug and bare no responsibility for their actions whatsoever.
I dunno, leftists claim women can’t give consent for sex when under the influence…apparently they bear no responsibility.

  36. I remember Marg Trudeau arriving in a small prairie town back in the day when she chucked her panties. She went into the general store, bought an ice cream cone, and went and sat outside on the wooden sidewalk where she proceeded to enjoy her cone. And old cowboy was driving through town in a beat up F-100. He saw Marg with no underpants on, she he stopped and yelled out, ”What the hell ya’ doin’ sittin’ on the sidewalk with no pants on??” She smiled, looked at him and said, ”It keeps those darned flies off my ice cream!”

  37. take a pill, John.
sometimes people with mental and emotional problems turn to illicit drugs and alcohol in order to self medicate.
walsh is a hack [although she managed to NOT ruin the excellent film, New Waterford Girl…]

  38. So Bell (CTV) uses a CBC hag for a spokes*unt for mental health.
I vote for John as the poster boy.

  39. ”It keeps those darned flies off my ice cream!”
Not if the flies were Rolling Stones fans.
