This has been brewing for a while and it’s not getting any better. The US has made commitments to protect our Allies, and China is not one of them.

If anyone else was POTUS instead of Obozo, then the US would stand up for the principle of the S. China sea as being international waters. However, the chimp in chief is likely to go to Beijing, bow as deeply as possible to the Chicom leader and apologize for the US casualties inflicted on Chicom forces in the Korean war. Likely he’ll also be reminded about the 1+ trillion dollars of US debt that the Chicoms hold and how inconvenient it would be for the US if the Chicoms demanded that money back immediately (not in US$ but gold).
If the Chicoms get away with this, look for the Russians to claim equally vast tracts of the Arctic ocean (which would put Canada in direct conflict with the Russians), the Iranians to assert control of large portions of their coastal waters and, in general, a mad dash to divide up areas now considered part of international waters.
The Chicoms now have an increased naval presence including one aircraft carrier and the US is the only power that could have stood up to them prior to Obozo. Now, look for numerous apologies flowing from the WH about every time a US military aircraft flies over what are properly defined as international waters. When the Japanese are more militant regarding this issue than the US, it’s very worrisome. Combine the Chicom claims with their ICBM’s built expressly for targeting aircraft carriers (albeit with a large conventional warhead) the only thing the US has going for it is far more direct combat experience than the Chicoms. GWB would have probably sailed a couple of carrier battle groups into the S. China sea and told the Chicoms that international waters would be militarily defended.
And when they invade Taiwan, I’m sure Barry will…

Good Lord. Tom Clancy was right. This is one of the subplots of his most recent book.
I remember a financial guru saying that if he owed $100,000 to a bank, the bank owned him–however, if he owed $100,000,000 to a bank–he owned the bank. I can’t see why it wouldn’t be different for the US vis a vis China. So what if the US owes them $1T–if it decides not to pay it…how exactly will China get them to pay? What would happend if all Western governments stick together and decide not to pay China? (with the US backing them militarily)–There is enough historical evidence that Europeans have no problem screwing the Chinese.
Are we so sure their goal is shutting down international trade? Seems like a more likely scenario is rent extraction. They’ll turn the south china sea into a toll booth before they just shut it down. Mind you, that could be just as bad…
Oh let the poor rtched creep have their isotope polluted pond, they’l be bankrupt soon enough.
Time is not what I’d call an authoritative source, but Japan looking to add offensive weapons is probably not the reaction the Chinese were hoping for. Shove, often enough, hard enough, or the right person, and you just might find out that not everyone is a community organizer.
America should let others handle this. They should not have to be world police.
But they are’ aren’t they, LAS. Isn’t part of the issue that the Japanese, who attempted the same thing with the Southeast Asia CoProsperity Sphere, likely object to the South China Sea becoming a Chinese lake?
Charging tolls on American shipping is a logical step for the future.
Pax Americana was a very good thing.
Delightful it is to watch the liberal notions of how the world works exploded one by one. Delightful even though the likely consequences will be extremely unpleasant.
As I said years ago. What does one expect if China rules the World?
Not so funny now is it libs?
Pax Americana was and is financially unsustainable.
And that fraud Obozo will sell the Philippines out once again. Guaranteed.
I’m sure if the U.S. would just butt out that India, who acquired nuclear weapons expressly to protect themselves from China, would put China in it’s place with the willing support of their patron Russia.
No need for the bankrupt Yankees to even pretend to break a sweat.
