In an unprecedented move, the farmers of Ontario and Quebec have joined in the Canadian Wheat Board (CWB) monopoly.

I can confirm that Toronto’s wheat farmers, as represented by Jamaica Hegemon, head of WAFT [Wheat Associated Farmers of Toronto], concur with their comrades in the rest of Ontario and Quebec.
No choice is good choice, comrades!
I talked them into it! Next I’m going to get them to support the Crow Rate.
“Herb Sniffor…” BWAAHAWHAWHAW!!
Herb Sniffor must be related to a local named Justin Hale.
I notice that most journalists are concerned with the bizarre situation where special interest groups are allowed a veto on any changes to their collective and the possible domino effect if this idea was expanded. All true, of course.
My first (unoriginal) thought upon hearing the judges ruling was how it is so easy for government to take away individual rights (NEP, CWB, “universal” but rationed health care, gun control etc.) and how it is almost impossible to get it back.
I had short and interesting conversation with my skip and his son at curling last night. Although some of the farmers in the area I have spoke to welcome the move, my skips family is another prominent farmer in the area who does not.
Only time will tell, but they definitely are concerned with having to deal with the likes of Cargill and Viterra. A good deal on the price of grain is directly coordinated on how much products they will have to purchase from them.
He did say the single desk option wasn’t entirely true and also that after the CWB dismantles, the States will be the only market. Sitting with a group of guys the conversation wasn’t able to fully get into detail after that.
He also called Ritz “Hitler” because he felt the farmers vote meant nothing, but I didn’t get the chance to quiz him on that. Maybe next week.
In the end he did say the CWB was done and now they need to just deal with it.
My opinion stands as an individual holding the right to sell to whom ever you wish, but I thought I would just pass on last nights conversation.
The CWB are ‘anti-choice’ sound the alarm!
Hah, a woman can eviscerate her womb by choice for any or no reason, but grain farmers have no ‘choice’ to sell their wheat.
Farmers should have the right to evacuate their ‘pregnant’ silos for any or no reason!
Now I get that joke about ‘sowing your wild oats’ on a Saturday night, only to go to church on Sunday praying for a ‘crop failure’.
Come on where are all the amoral feminazis now, they should be supporting a farmers right to choose!?!
But like farming, beer bottles and sex; if there is no deposit there is no return!
Matthew 11:16-17
16 “But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the market places and calling to their playmates, 17 `We piped to you, and you did not dance; we wailed, and you did not mourn.’

Everyone is worried about having to sell to Cargill. The idiots sold out all their Wheat Pools for peanuts. There are some new co-ops starting up here and there. Put together a new co-op system to handle your sales.
Hilarious! And as with most political humour it strikes a deep chord of truth. Because the NDP is in fact acting like that — they have characterized the Harper Cons as “jackboots” for allowing farmers the freedom to choose!
So it’s not even a comedic parody — the NDP actually defines freedom as slavery, and slavery as freedom, and they have demonstrated that in public statements.
Maybe the NDP should try to join up with some old Democrat Reb Confederate rednecks from the U.S. deep south who still believe that the Bible justifies slavery as they believed 150 years ago before the Civil War emancipated Blacks.
Thanks for the link Kate, I’m glad you liked it.
This was funny and I enjoyed it. Hunter, you are bad. 🙂 Oh, good for sticking it to the collectivists.
Knacker, your curling buddy feels “they definitely are concerned with having to deal with the likes of Cargill and Viterra”. Who have they been selling their other non-board grains to? I always made the most profit on selling my non-board grains and it was to the mentioned companies as as to some others and I never farmed more than 1,000 acres or 370 dessiatines.

LOLOL
The attitude of Knacker’s curling bud is more prevalent than you think and when I hear it I am always astonished. A farmer buys his farm machinery, his vehicles, his fertilizers, and his pesticides from large multinational firms; and sells his canola and his non CWB grains to large multinational firms but all of a sudden, if he sells his wheat to a large firm they will take his soul and his first born son. Amazing.
I’m waiting for Ontario’s tobacco farmers to climb on board.
No…laws are stupid things that should be ignored when inconvenient. Law and order is only for other people.
This would be really funny except for the fact that we are being oppressed by the leftists in this country. They should have no say to where I sell my wheat or barley. Doing just fine marketing all of my other crops that are not under control of the cwb. Stay out of my pockets and leave my cash alone.
things like the cwb are why America has the second amendment, to STOP tyranny.
Wonder if the Spud Island Liberal from PEI,Wayne Doorknob Easter, has busted a vein over this wheat board stuff yet?
Those waving fields of wheat in and around Toronto must be a sight to behold.
How long will it take them to realize they better get out of the wheat fields they’re going the grain?
When does the push to eliminate the egg and dairy marketing boards start. That would mean more for consumers.
