  1. A good bit of reporting and conveying what it was like on this trip. All who went have my respect and of course, a special respect is due the PM’s military guard. Our best and brightest.

  2. This, of course, is the kind of story that should but never does make it into the MSM.
Our Prime Minister, I suggest, is more inclusive than the other parties and their leaders, because he invites people like Miller, Iginla, Hefford, and Poulin to accompany him on trips like this.
Thanks Sammy and SDA for doing the MSM’s job. No wonder they’re sinking fast.
    Knock, knock, I’m-Peter-Mansbridge-and-you’re-not, anybody home?

  3. I read this article yesterday from the reader’s tip links, and loved it. I always knew Jarome Iginla was one of the good guys, and this article confirmed it.
The other impression I got from the article is that PMSH and Peter McKay really respect our troops and do these type of visits from that basis, and not because of the political benefit. I could be wrong on that, but I hope not.

  4. I live in Calgary and we all know what a special person Jarome is. Thanks for sharing this story.

  5. A great story, and yes, thanks to the 4 athletes and Gord Miller for brightning the day for our soldiers.
Proud of PMSH for doing this.

  6. Iginla has always been one of my favorite athletes. Just a very well rounded individual. Don Cherry loves him.

I’d have to agree with you about it not being a political optic for the PM nor Peter MacKay,(the 2 PM’S!)
One need only look at PMSH in 2006(?) and his ferrying of Lebanese Cdn’s back to Canada on the Cdn. Government jet.
I can’t readily think of any other PM in Office that has nor would take that time.
The Prime Minister is by no means perfect but he is a statesman and a decent person.
Canada has been most fortunate at this time.
