Gulf of Georgia.
… another vote for “prius envy”
Fraser, there’s an explanation here. Sounds like a misuse of the word, not too different from the modern misuse of the word “Progressive”, which in practicality means regressive!
Holds 6 clowns.
“…which Gulf the Gulf Islands are located in????”
Common mistake. It’s the Golf Islands. You’re welcome.

“I would bet good money that that car and driver were from the Island”
No doubt, the car was weirdly out of place and underpowered in the mountains. They even had house plants as cargo in the back window, what???
On that trip I was fully occupied dreaming of cruising those roads on my FJR1300, with break down fishing rods in saddle, and will be doing so this upcoming summer. Beautiful riding place BC is.
@10:37 er, Infinity Squared :
Heh … I like that one!
@10:26 gordinkneehill :
Well, if you would please point me at a map or atlas or whatever that clearly shows “Gulf of Georgia” on it. I have yet to find one in my 45+ years of living on the coast …
@10:27 Robert W.
Aha. Now we are getting somewhere (thanks!). That is about what I had guessed – a misuse of the word, or perhaps ‘not exactly the right application of the word’.
Meanwhile – what about that Taxi anyways?!?!?
Reminds me of that old song ‘little nash rambler” Beep Beep
Gutless, yellow and fragile… why its Gregor Robertson!
There is no Gulf of Goergia. The Gulf Islands are in the Salish Sea.

“They even had house plants as cargo in the back window, what???”
If it were a rear wheel drive vehicle in winter you could almost see the logic in that. Except neither of those factors are true.
Therefore – Island Driver. Beware!
Meanwhile, for the Taxi topic at hand, I am torn. On the one hand, I would like to work up an amusing post that includes the word “goat”. On the other hand, having recently been away with five persons searching for a mini-van cab … well, you can see where that might lead.
Maybe I’ll go with this : “I am getting a roof rack tomorrow …”
Hmmm. What do under-inflated tires do for fuel economy?
@11:21 Brian Kohn
“The Gulf Islands are in the Salish Sea.”
Ok … The Salish Sea name is new. However, if you would please point me at a map, or atlas (etc.) that shows the words “Gulf of ” off of the shores of Vancouver/Vancouver Island that would be greatly appreciated.
Easy……….

The New 2011 Mercedes Benz Lawn Mower by Cub Cadet
(mowing deck extra)
Or”Diesel on My Tail” by Jim and Jesse. Though they do refer to St.Peter in the song. That might get it banned by the CBSC.
Ronald McDonald comes extra.
I hope that ‘Salish Sea’ is just a sarcastic correction.
The PC crowd can call it that all they want.
Gulf of GEORGIA, forever!
Ditto the Queen Charlotte Islands
Test drive: car tipping today!
As if smart car owners didn’t look like big enough douche-bags…
All I want to know is how fast I can get out of it when it starts burning.
DanBC; amen to that! I’ve yet to see any written use of “Salish Sea” in news items, weather reports, etc. Let it ever be so.
Here’s a good picture to show potential customers-

It’s got a little black, a little white but mostly it is a cowardly yellow. We’ll call it an Obama.
It only has room for one plus an ego. We’ll call it an Obama.
Mule to pull it sold separately.
