From Climate Audit to the Wall Street Journal – “Revenge of the Climate Laymen “
The retired Canadian businessman, whose self-described “auditing” a few years ago prompted a Congressional review of climate science, has once again thrown EnviroLand into a tailspin. In September, he revealed that a famous graph using tree rings to show unprecedented 20th century warming relies on thin data. Since its publication in 2000, University of East Anglia professor Keith Briffa’s much-celebrated image has made star appearances everywhere from U.N. policy papers to activists’ posters. Like other so-called “hockey stick” temperature graphs, it’s an easy sell—one look and it seems Gadzooks! We’re burning ourselves up!
“It was the belle of the ball,” Mr. McIntyre told me on a recent phone call from Ontario. “Its dance card was full.”
At least until Mr. McIntyre reported that the modern portion of that graph, which shows temperatures appearing to skyrocket in the last 100 years, relies on just 12 tree cores in Russia’s Yamal region. When Mr. McIntyre presented a second graph, adding data from 34 tree cores from a nearby site, the temperature spike disappears.

“Near-record cold possible in Fairbanks on Friday
by Julie Stricker / jstricker@newsminer.com
FAIRBANKS, Alaska – If you thought it was cold these past couple of days, you may be in for a surprise.
While record low temperatures were recorded elsewhere in Interior Alaska, Fairbanks has been an island of relative warmth. That could end tonight or Friday as the low clouds and flurries that have blanketed the area move out, according to the National Weather Service.
Lows could drop to 35 below zero Friday night, according to Allura Weimer, hydrological meteorological technician at the National Weather Service. Normal temperatures range from 9 above to 9 below zero. The record low for Thursday is 33 below zero, set in 1969.
Record low temperatures were recorded across a large portion of Interior Alaska this week.
Bettles has been the coldest, with a low of 46 degrees below zero. Tanana and Arctic Village recorded lows of 45 below and 40 below zero, while Fort Yukon and the Denali Park Visitors Center saw temperatures of 38 below.
Bettles’ low of 45 below on Tuesday broke the previous record low on that date of 42 below, which was set in 1952. Thursday’s 46-below reading broke the 1993 record of 40 below.”

Fred & others in Metro Vancouver: I’m in South Granville. If you’re interested, drop me a line and we can hold the 1st ever SDA Left Coast Summit (aka a coffee!). We can all be sure to talk loud so as to incense any Rabid Leftists in the vicinity!!!
Gave up on CKNW years ago, even though I entered a complaint to the Canandian Broadcast Standards Council and it was judged that CKNW-AM had breached the Code of Ethics of the Can. Association, of Broadcasters, back in 2003. (another story). Peter Warren and Rafe Mair could make me very angry, but Bill Good … seldom gave him a listen, the man had no opinion on anything, and would switch sides with regularity. He should have been a Sports commentator, he might have known more about that. Anyway, he’s the last one left and having lost the hockey broadcasts they’ve lost what listeners they once had. Not worth the bother.
I wish I could join the rest of you all in Vancouver for the SDA Left Coast Summit. I used to live in Coquitlam and often figured I was the last person of sanity in that City. I’m happy that there are still some folks sane there!
I hear Gore & Suzuki have an upcoming gig on CBC Radio.
I wonder if they will be asked which one is the Freddie Mac.. (That is Barney Frank’s inside code)…
That provides a humorous image if Suzuki is Fannie Mae…
I was listening too and actually called in and got put on the cue. I pulled over and listened and waited my turn when I heard those comments i hung up and drove on. Bill good is painful at the best of times and i’ll switch to 790. Clark is not much better. but noticed he said he and his producers so not much chance of fixing them. boycott the advertisers.
I think it was Harry who just pointed out that there was no simple way to contact me via my blog. Let me give you all an e-mail alias which I occasionally use: b1@pocketpollster.com
Do drop me a line and a few of us can get together at that aforementioned “Summit”!
Whistler mountain has the most snow ever at this time of the year. Yep it’s AGW.
Just think what the World would be like without men or Women with this level of meticulous research? With the courage to go against the rivers of lies in their time. Like a ratiuoal being McIntyre just continues to state real facts not cotton candy.
The fact even Obama won’t sign Copenhagen shows this world of the weird fantasy, is almost run its course Its usability for that matter. My disgust go for the true believers. Who in the end where be betrayed by their own.
This is what happens when you worship men.
