Mmm … Mmm … Mmm

The old standby that “they’re all the same, so why bother voting” has been made irrelevant:

Kay wondered aloud, who would have believed that within the first seven months of the new administration, 90% of all mortgages in the United States would be backed by the federal government (placing the taxpayer at risk for over $5 trillion dollars, I might add). The U.S. government, she said, would also become a major shareholder in one of the world’s largest banks, Citigroup-who would have believed it? In addition, Kay pointed out the feds hostile takeover of General Motors and Chrysler, the sacking of their respective CEO’s, replacing them with political appointees, and then heartlessly closing hundreds of profitable dealerships across the country, many of whose owners were known to have contributed to Republican politicians and conservative causes.
If Kay had told America this would happen upon electing Barack Obama as president, would the country have listened?
I began working off of Kay’s supposition, presenting the same sort of questions to my listeners on KSFO in San Francisco:
“If I told you that if elected, the budget deficit for Barack Obama’s first fiscal year would total $1.6 trillion dollars, and in ten years the predicted national debt would surge to $16 trillion, would you have believed me? And we conservatives thought George Bush had a spending problem,” I declared.

… keep reading “If I had told you.”

More Mmm … Mmm … Mmm:

… on a related note, at least one snippet of good will have come from all this … The Race Card is Dead:

So why is the faux charge of “racist” so freely bandied about — given that polls suggest it is a losing tactic for liberals?
The most obvious reason is that a popular president believed he could enact an unpopular agenda on the basis of his own magnetic personality. When he discovered that he could not — and in the process revealed a pattern of partisanship and intolerance — some of his diehard supporters were flabbergasted by the turn of events and resorted in desperation to the “racist” charge to regain sympathy for both their cause and their president.
Second, liberals never envisioned that they would so quickly regain the House and Senate, as well as the presidency — partly through tough invective and a demonization of both George W. Bush and a Republican “culture of corruption.” Their noble ends were felt to justify their often over-the-top rhetoric. Now they most surely do not wish the same level of street invective legitimized and used against themselves. “Racist!” then serves as a preemptive firewall against possible conflagrations to come.

  1. Wait until the progressives realize their Chosen One is about to lose the midterms and both Houses are returned to GOP majorities.
They’ll hit Mach 1 before clearing the tower

  2. For such prominent ears on this clown, not much enters or stays in that bachi ball head of his.

  3. Sorry Fred every American I have talked to wants ALL incumbents out.
Look forward to a room full of independents.
It should be fun to watch all the crooks scramble for cover.
The new guys are going to have 0 tolerance for scummy back-room deals.
The people are planning on taking back there country anyway that is necessary.

  4. A republican/independant sweep in 2010 will save the Obama presidency. It’ll force him to the middle, and being who he is, he’ll pitch everyone close to him under the bus and do a Clinton.
Billy boy had worse numbers at the start than does The Big O, but then Newt came along and saved Bill … and the rest is history.
If Obama gives McChrystal what he wants, then moves to the middle in 2010, he’ll be in for 8 years. Given Obama’s ability to toss every living friend under the bus if need be, he’s fully capable of the switch.
Watching the far left scream will be worth every minute … watching Obama strut his new found centrist stuff … unbearable.

  5. I see over at the Chicago Sun Times, they have already started blaming Bush for losing the Olympics.

  6. Yup. I remember political cartoons of Dubya as a chit throwing monkey and the lefties all laughed in derision.
How convenient for them to call me a racist when I note that Obunghole looks more like a chimp than Bush did.
Affirmative action doesn’t work in the workplace. Who woulda thunk it would fail in politics too???

  7. There were a lot of people who had a very bad feeling about that election me being one of them. Having said that there was no way that we were going to be heard over the unrelenting requiem of the MSM for our new lord and savior. Talk about a false prophet. The only thing he has accomplished is to remove the mantel of Worst president evah from Jimmah Carter.

  8. The left live for the absurd. I don’t remember hearing any complaints when Condoleeza Rice was treated negatively by the press. Should the Chosen One be given a free pass? It’s getting old now. Why it hadn’t before I do not know.

  9. By the way, the “throw them both out” sentiment is exactly what the Democrats want. We have time for that in ’12. Right now, they have to lose control of at least one house of the Congress. The immediate thing is to clip Obama’s wings.

  10. The reason the “racism” charge is thrown about by liberals so much is that it’s the only argument they have.

  11. Kay musing “If I had told you…”
They were told.Check out Palin’s speech at the RNC.
Just checked out a blog on the 9/12 Washington Tea Party.Plenty of great pix.
Is there an elephant in the house. Is it racist to ask where are the blacks? I saw 3 in total.
Are they standing by Obama no matter what? If they are then they will cause a racial rift themselves.

  12. Obama’s been all around the world apologizing for and demonizing the USA. Michelle is not proud of the country and then they try to switch gears and persuade the IOC that America is the perfect place to hold the Olympics? Can’t have it both ways you a$$hats. And Michelle’s little bit abuot sitting in her daddy’s lap watching Carl Lewis? She would have been 20 years old when Lewis participated in the Olympics. Stupid woman.

  13. Isn’t this just more America’s Chickens coming home to roost?
Obongo is a loser. Like all African leaders throughout history, he must rule by tyranny or be deposed early on. His deposition is coming fast.

  14. In areas of high diplomacy, the use of the Latin term “mea culpa” while striking the breast, is used only in conversation with God. Expressions of regret can be very dangerous in the real world. Never, ever suck up to the lower classes, or those without the Law, because in most cases they are undeserving and, evenmoreso, not impressed.

  15. I think it speaks highly of the US system that allows even an avowed America-hater to become POTUS. Having said that, it doesn’t say much about the intelligence of the typical democrat voter, however.

  16. I am so sick of Obama bashing America and everything that came before him. You know what, Obama, if you hate America so much, go home. Go back to Indonesia, dude, where the Muslim call to prayer is the thing you called “the prettiest sound in the world,” before the NY Times scratched that out of the interview. Just go home and leave America alone. We’ll get by.
