    New poll:
    -69% of Canucks believe gw is based on science and about the same percentage said when asked : “Are you willing to lower your home thermostat and drive fuel efficient vehicles”: NO!
    -12% of respondents said the science is “junk”
    -19% said: “Not sure”
    This news report from the weather network was a real cat’s meow this morning:
    “Toronto’s humane society reports a surge in cat populations in February due to global warming: Because of a mild December, cats normally staying indoors where more active outdoors…”
    Don’t get your pet neutered, blame it on global warming and send a message to governments to tax you to death instead.
    BTW: I did not make this up!

  2. The most risible thing Gore said yesterday was that the Earth had a fever. That’s the kind of rhetoric that lost him the state of Tennessee in 2000.
    As for the obvious hypocrisy of owning a strip mine and buying offset credits (?) from a company he owns himself to make good his own twenty times the average consumption of electrical power… raise your hand anyone who didn’t see something like this coming.

  4. The man-made global warming advocates will fight like cornered rats. Not to save the planet, but to save their reputations. No amount of science will cause them to ever, ever change their stance on this. There is too much at stake personally for them. That’s why the panic and urgency to implement changes before the general public has time to investigate and expose the truth. Time is Al Gore’s personal enemy, not our planet’s.

Whenever I hear a Gore speech the first thing you notice is he feels the need to dumb-down even the simplest of concepts to “reach his audience”…Obviously the man has contempt for the intelligence level of the Liberal left because he rants and preaches to them like they were spoiled little children…aside from the obvious megalomania this reveals in Gore, it also makes a statement about his audience. Either they like being talked down to and humiliated or they are too stupid to notice.

    I have spent much of the day listening to Al Gore prattle on about methane, ice caps and precious carbon neutrality. Please, don’t weep for me. It is my responsibility to monitor such things so you don’t have to. Besides, the afternoon wasn’t wasted. After watching hours of the erstwhile Veep’s congressional testimony, I think I finally understand him . Ultimately, he is a tragic if unsympathetic figure. Has there ever been a man who so desperately hungered for greatness who was so thoroughly suffused with mediocrity?
    The story of Gore’s life story is familiar, but at this hour of great prominence for him, certain aspects of it warrant revisiting. When he was born, Nashville’s Tennessean heralded, at the insistence of his father, Senator Al Gore Sr., young Al’s birth with a front page story. Gore was raised to be great; he was raised to be president. And he bought into the mission wholeheartedly.
    But there was one problem: Gore was an individual of no great talent. His intelligence wasn’t noteworthy. Neither were his social or athletic skills. Perhaps most importantly, he wasn’t a natural at the backslapping and glad-handing that are such vital aspects of the political game. Even in college, young Al threw up before delivering his first public speech.
    But Gore’s parents programmed him from the beginning to march on the presidency. And he bought into the plan, no questions asked. He always knew with an unnerving moral certainty that he should be president.
    ALAS, GORE’S DREAM HIT THE ROCKS in 2000 in what was probably the second most gut-wrenching defeat in the history of our presidential politics. Coincidentally, his fellow Tennessean, Andrew Jackson, takes the crown for having endured the most painful loss. Jackson responded to his loss stoically and methodically. Four years later he swept to power with ease.
    Gore, on the other hand, was lost after his defeat. Not only had he lost, all of his weaknesses as a politician had become manifest. His natural arrogance and condescension permanently alienated people who were friends and supporters. His tin-ear for politics led him to ludicrously posture as a populist even though he had served as Vice President during a time of unprecedented prosperity and public content.
    The defeat to a man he so obviously considered unworthy undid Gore. The predetermined “fact” that he would one day serve as president was no longer certain. Indeed, it became doubtful. So, where does a guy for whom becoming president would have been just an adequate and expected accomplishment go when that ambition turns out to be beyond his reach?
    HE RESOLVES TO SAVE THE WORLD! That’s what Al Gore has done. He has identified a problem that in his telling threatens our very existence, and only he can save humanity from the gruesome fate that awaits. Yes, this new Gore is a totally risible figure, but it’s who he is and it’s what he’s doing. There’s been much fun on the internets over his comparison to himself and others in Congress to the “300” who saved the day at Thermopylae, but that was perhaps his most modest comment of the day. I’ll say it again – he really believes he’s saving the world.

  10. I converted a colleague. He started by offering to lend me a Convenient Lie, oops, Inconvenient Truth DVD and after a few articles about junk science he no longer thinks Gore is a prophet.

    What really got me is that Gore didn’t simply answer “Yes” to the question posed to him. He is NOT willing to change his life. This “carbon neutral” stuff is a load of crap.

    To the Goracle he should take some advice:

    The science on solar activity is far from complete, the Navier Stokes equations haven’t been solved, and we have the Goracle announcing a carbon neutral business plan to line his pockets.

  14. Spin mode engaged………. In the world of climate control no one likes to admit they have been conned…..(Con-artists know this ).
    Scene from Anti-climate control documentary …Little old lady being interviewed by police. She is telling how she was dupped into handing over her life’s savings to buy carbon credits to help save the world. The police say this is happening all over the world and she will probably never see her money again. The old lady is crying as we see her reading the forclosure papers and the voice over saying…another victim of Al Gore’s Inconvenient truth.

  15. I participated in the poll and ended up in an e-mail complaint session with the pollsters. The questions started out with real choices on the questions then about 4 questions into the poll gave only choices that concluded that I believed in man made Global warming. I discussed this with the polling company through e-mail and they replied that it was ok because 69% of the people being polled agreed with man made global warming so my opinion wouldn’t have changed it that much. I sat with my wife who is also a participant with her own account and she agreed that there is no way to disagree with many of the questions.Questions with lines like: Do you think that we can stop global warming in 10 years or 20? with no option for: I don’t agree with either.

  16. He is still a politician so he answers the question he wants to. He could have said I have changed my lifestyle by being aware of how much carbon my life creates and I offset that by purchasing carbon credits.
    But that would rais inconvenient questions…who were they purchased from how much would ordinary americans have to purchase to bring themselves in line, how much would that cost the average American, who gets the money…
    If this is such a big problem should we really just be reducing our carbon emissions….so Mr Gore, since you have been tracking you are carbon aware how much carbon were you responsible for last year, was that an improvement over last year, and what is your projection for this year…
    Once again, I like market answers to problems but carbon trading as currently constituted is a ponzi scheme…and if we really are on the precipice should we be reducing carbon emissions, sequestering carbon emissions and planting lots of trees?
    I am curious, what would the carbon reduction be if everyone planted on tree in Canada….and how fast would that eat up available land?
    All too silly. This thing is going to jump the shark soon….thi summer will either push us to fever pitch or kill its credibility….What was the Southern Hemisphere’s summer like this year anyway, now that they are in fall?

  17. Global warming has been switched to “Climate Change” since people have been questioning the GHG’s as the villians , plus we all know that surveys can be skewed based on the wording of the question.
    Nobody is doubting the Earth gets hot and cold
    over time, the issue is the silent majority of Scientists that try to expose the flawed Science by Gore that Co2 and humans are killing the Planet and that the Oceans will rise 20 feet.
    New evidence has shown that coal and Oil aren’t from dead Dinosaurs because both are found near the surface and under the Ocean beds as deep as 5000+ feet.
    The Marianna trench is under 30’000 feet of Ocean and it was formed from Plate collisions , Hawaii still has lava flows from Plate pressure
    to force up liquid magma .
    Oil and coal is found down at the 15’000 foot level on land based drilling rigs which begs the question about how those dinosaurs got down there
    while other died in Alberta’s Oil sands , and in Texas a dried river bank was exposed over time and it shows a T-rex style biped foot print with a human foot print sharing the exact erosion levels as if they were made about the same time.
    For years people denied that the Titanic sank with the steerage class immigrants locked in the lower level, but finally a Robot camera and mini-sub discovered that the scissor-gate did have a lock on it to keep the poor in steerage.
    Can we at least keep the Jury out until all the evidence is presented to confirm why we are expected to pump billions into a GHG crisis , my fear is that after all that money and effort we will have to rely on the experts claiming that our money did stop Global warming because it didn’t happen as they predicted.
    It’s always tough to prove a negative and that’s what these zealots are preying on by a fabricate crisis and actions that will be credited for preventing it.

    They’re has been politicos trying to paint their butts into the annals of history as great men of their time. The reverse is happening. Gore is being questioned and has no answers. Martin is pushing what he and his Liberals had years to do on the Aboriginal file and failed to do.

We will, 2% of global anthoprogenic emissions will show “leadership” by inconveniently taxing industry, reducing our standard of living Yeah, there’s a real winner with the voters, who aren’t even willing to cut down on their shower time. Understand Harper (you know, the climate criminal) bringing down more environmental legislation, including compulsory, over long term, emission reductions, with help from government (sorry, Iberia). Nuclear power soft underbelly of Kyoto cult; it will be interesting to see how they talk their way out of this one.
    How did Harper outdo Dion on environment file? Hasn’t he been the most influential opposition leader since a generation? Harper understands there is a limit to Canadian’s enviro compassion, about as far as their wallets. Why, because Canadians seem to understand that no reductions, I mean leadership, from Canada, will affect human induced global warming (I mean climate change, or is it injustice). Harper is opting for a doable (long term) clean air approach, which also reduces CO2, rather than putting it to the consumer through corporate punishment. Dion has opted for splitting his vote with NDP and Bloc in QC, cynically pushing through a Kyoto bill he already knows will never see compliance. Harper is outflanking him on many issues, and Dion is stuck demanding apologies for Afghan shot. Now Holland is making allegations Stockwell Day paid someone $6000 to step aside in election. Liberals wasting their powder, MSM already taking a breather, though some are starting to wake up. Jack Layton came out of his comma, then put us to sleep with his commercials; are the NDP planning to get their vote back from Libs. Tories have lots of money, Grits have none and still haven’t paid back stolen bucks. No appetite for election at Gritland, just brave faces.

  25. I watched part of the hearing. and one thing struck me is when he was asked about CO2 coming before warming or after it, he rambled on about it coming before and coming after warming in the past, but said right now it was coming before. I wish I had a clip of that statement. Anyone have it?

    Al Gore is telling us to live cleaner lives, sure he’s an asshat, but maybe we should question our wastefulness. After all, shouldn’t Conservatism and conservatism be about conservation of resources? On that note why is everyone so happy that Harper is spending like a Liberal? Shouldn’t budget expenditures go down with a government with a mandate to conserve.
