  1. But we’ve got global warming all figured out, even though we don’t fully understand the behaviour of solar activity.
But hey two suns are better than one.
The North Koreans will deliver as soon as they get their $25 million loose from an Asian bank.
Stupidity and wonder all in the same day!
    Isn’t life grand?

  2. Goodness gracious great balls of fire!
It would be nice to see more of the “suns” these days.

  3. Just imagine what they will learn in the next 5 to 11 years!!
Right now we are at the bottom of the solar cycle. This means that the sun is almost dead quiet in relative terms.
    From spaceweather.com:
The sun is blank today–no sunspots. Credit: SOHO/MDI
    Sunspot Number: 0
    Updated: 21 Mar 2007
In six years time the sun spot number will be around 200. With all of the information gathered over the last 5 cycles (each is about 11 years long) every thing points to the next cycle being the most active cycle ever recorded. The record is held by the 1957 peak. Of the last 5 cycles, 4 of them are in the top 5. But Mr Suzuki claims the sun has no effect on the earth’s climate.
    Go Figure!!
BTW, go to spaceweather and check out the SOHO project, it ties in very nicely with the new telescope.

  4. I guessing they are carbon neutral. lets see, couple of hydrogens, neutrons, helium , yup ,great place to send carbon credits through my new company Gorbanacious Greenhouse Gizzes Global Goobleup Co. Ltd.

  5. Found it ironic that on CBC’s The National last night, the lead story was yesterday’s prerequisite item on “prophet” (what, no priest and king?) Al Gore and, toward the end of the broadcast, a finish item on the ability to x-ray film the sun. Quirks and Quarks science reporter Bob McDonald ,as part of his report showing all kinds of marvellous shots of swirling storms on the sun, showed a small square on the image reflecting the size of the earth in comparison. He indicated that scientists and meteorologists use these images to try to determine the impact on radio, electrical, and weather factors on earth.
    Is there a disconnect here?

  6. The sun is massive.
The sun is a nuclear boiling ball.
The Earth is 93 million miles from the sun.
The earth is habitable because of this correct distance.
The Earth’s average temperature is about right for humans.
Canada’s temperature is far to cold.
Could changes in the nuclear furnace affect the Earh’s weather ?? Aawh, gee, ya think ??
And to think Dion and Suzuki and Gore want to ruin our economy and our way of life in order to try and keep Canada cold.
CTV, Angus Reid poll says Canadians beleive the BS about global warming. Has anyone seen the raw data ?? The list of those polled ?? Could it be a media induced opinion driver ??

  7. I’m still in shock over how Al Gore dismissed the Sun as a possible catalyst for Earth’s climate, Sen.Boxer only likes to hear from the Experts she agrees with and back her version of why the climate changes.
Gore even smirks while valid questions about Co2 and presented as part of the Right to free-speech and Public debate , but these smug elites
think they know more than the actual Scientists that agree with Global Warming but doubt the hype over the Co2 as the villian.
Gore has 3 large houses and eats up $40’000.00
ayear in utility bills while telling US to make all the sacrifices and bite the bullet , this while they also fly around the Nation in a private jet spewing soot that has been linked to lung cancer in Airport grounds-crews.
It’s been 4 years now that I’ve tried to get a answer from Toronto’s Coucil over why we still have the July Auto race and Labour-day AirShow if SMOG is such a concern and we have idling by-laws
to fine car owners if their car run for more than 3 minutes per hour while parked.
South Park had a great show about SUV’s and how the Smog problem became a Hybrid-SUV Smug problem that made them believe they were morally superior for protecting the Polar bears and Frogs.
Thank God Gore didn’t win , he’d still be in the fetal position from 9/11 and he’d blame the high gas prices on NOT invading Iraq for Saddam’s failure to comply with the U.N.’s 17 resolution to dis-arm and let Inspectors confirm the WMD’s that Bill Clinton said existed were actually dismantled and the missiles trashed .

  8. Beautiful pictures Kate…thanks for posting. When you consider what is going on up there it is quite humbling….

  9. Saw a thing on CTV this morning on that algore appearance. The title on the bottom of the screen was “ENVIRONMENTAL CHAMPION”….you have to listen to him, he is a prophet because he is an ENVIRONMENTAL CHAMPION. There is to be no dispute, no valid opposing view, just listen to the ENVIRONMENTAL CHAMPION and he will make all well. All bow to the ENVIRONMENTAL CHAMPION!
BTW, i enjoyed a column today by the sometimes excessive Ann Coulter…referred to gore’s girth as “the new ass age”.

  10. I saw (and kept for my laugh files) a recent picture of a smiling Al Gore a couple of days ago (unfortunately I didn’t note the link) with this caption under it:
    Fat Cat Al Gore
Is it his Carbon or “Carbo” footprint he should be worried about?
I also stumbled upon this link:

where “Gore Hypocrisy” items – t-shirts, mugs, etc. – are sold.
Disclaimer: I have no connection whatever with the site nor the merchandise sold there.

  11. Wonder if the Sun municipal board is taxing those improvements? Solar energy is the answer, don’t you all know.
If you’re a kleptocrat, always, always, always tax the answer. Tax the question too if you can.

  13. 3 or 4 generations after the theory came out (E=MC2) and half a century after 15 megaton ‘Mike’, I still get a stupified expression in response when I tell people the sun is like a collosal hydrogen bomb going off non-stop for millions of years.
no wonder skuzizuki’s words have such sway on a population of dumbed down public edukashun clones.
stars exist with diameter enough to reach the earth and beyond. Ive got a google animated video of it somewhere here.

    “Sunshine” — advance review
It is 2057, and you’re being sent on a mission to the Sun, to save our ailing star from imminent death. Probably the one name you shouldn’t give your spaceship in this circumstance is Icarus, after the mythical Greek boy who died after flying too close to the Sun.
So, when we find ourselves aboard Icarus II at the start of director Danny Boyle’s glittering new film Sunshine, we pretty well know that the mission won’t go as planned. …-

  15. Gore said the Oceans have risen 23 FEET, it MAY be 23 INCHES. No one call him on that?
He really doesn’t know his stuff too well when he won’t debate anyone of opposing views?
Gore, Suzuki, Moe Strong , the Three Stooges revisited or just plain Charlatans.

  16. It is axiomatic that:
False “PROPHETS” leads to False “PROFITS”
The disciples of an inverse ENRON.

  17. Sea Level has risen 400 ft since the ice age.
    so what.
the Thames was at one time a tributary to the Rhine. at the time though the locals called the river the “ugh, epp ,eep ugh” and only dreamt of global warming.
Al Gore is an inconvenient story teller.

  18. World science 101.
The Sun, [great photo], always in a state of flux, warming and cooling earth through eons of time.
Man, [tiny dirty man], running thousands of coal and wood fed genplants,[ mostly in India, China and Eastern Bloc], dumping billions of tons of black carbon wastes. A dirty habit, but not too warming unless the slight greying of polar snows allows more heat absorbtion than we thought.
Wonder why Gore and Suzooki yell about warming? Something we can do little about, and not pollution, something we can all improve on in many ways.
Pollution would cost corps like Chevron, Exxon, Oil Sands, GM, and Alcan some dollars to fix.
Warming? It*s just a rant. Costs nothing.= TG

  19. It’s pretty but lacks the ambience of sitting around a campfire on a warm summer night and watching the sparks fly.
Hurry up with that global warming. We could all use a warm summer night sooner than later.

  20. All of you are right, but politics and media aren’t about ascertaining facts and acting on them, or even having much respect for them; both mostly consist of espousing conventional opinion and are driven by a desire to get noticed for some sort of gain. Of course we don’t know enough about what causes long term weather fluctuations on Earth; all we know is that they occur. But you can’t sell papers or get people to sit through a movie by saying that. Chicken Little stories, on the other hand, do draw a crowd: remember Y2K?

  21. “When you consider what is going on up there it is quite humbling….” Steven 11:52 AM.
    From another Susuki :-
“I am mentally preparing myself for the five-year-old mind. I want to come down to their physical limitations and up to their sense of wonder and awe.”
Shinichi Suzuki (Japanese violinist and teacher).

  22. robertbollocks, I particularly like the moon eclipsing Saturn pic. It makes you feel like the planet is just down the orad.
Which it is. For all this crap about running out of resources, we have the resources of the whole solar system at our fingertips.
    And later the galexy.
And if there is no other intelligent life in the universe, it is ours, ALL OURS I tell you hehaahh (evil laughter exit stage left).

  23. TWN is forecasting a cooler than normal April for most of Canada. Like from Dec to Jan, the term “global warming” should once again shift to “climate change”.

  24. “Wimpy…I know there is intelligent life out there…
They haven’t tried contacting us yet.”
To further inhance their intelligence I wish they would relent on that *visit* ban long enough to come and get the Gore-Boxer-Pelosi specimens and haul them off for further study.
Would we then be GBP neutral?
