  1. What? Germans in Southern ‘Ghan. Wow, wonder what the Afghan gravel truck drivers that were being IED’d constantly think? Must have been explosive pot holes.

  2. Wimpy’s history of Europe:
The Brits are either fighting the French or protecting them from the Germans. The Germans themselves rarely get organized, believe it or not, but when they do, watch out! The French are always fighting the Brits.

  3. Next time the Krauts or maybe the Russkies, who are re-arming, decide to kick the shit out of France (too easy, I know) we should not go over and bail their chestnuts out of the fire. The most ungrateful bastards.
Screw them all. Far too many great Canadians buried in military cemeteries in western Europe.
    Never again.

  4. The french are on their own as far as I am concerned. The ungrateful bastards can fend for themselves the next time around, and there will be a next time. If this country ever supports them again in my lifetime they [Canada] will be fighting on two fronts, there and here.

  5. If Fwance and Germany go under to the Russians it will be no loss!
We should have let it happen the first time!
It would have cured all of Europe of the love for socialist bastards!

  6. I was born in BC, raised in Saskatchewan and all four of my grandparents were pioneers here from Quebec in the early 1900’s. I speak and write the french language however I feel absolutely no kinship to France. I will never forget that in 2003 I saw a report of some Frenchmen who spraypainted a message on a Canadian cemetary wall that said “Venez chercher vos dechets”. Translated says ” Come and get your garbage”.
I absolutely agree that the next time the French get their collective asses kicked we just allow that to happen. There should never be another drop of Canadian blood spilled on French soil or in the defense of French citizens anywhere in the world. To call them dispicable would be a compliment.

  7. You folks trashing france should stop before thay are forced to send a “Strongly Worded” letter of their displeasure to the UN . Then our ass is grass.

  8. France still thinks it won WWII. Appeasers thats all they are good for. Germany is not much better. The USA should have let them sit in there crap. Let the Russians have them they are good for little else. A lot of money was spend on those babys to get them back on their feet, instead of there knees. Lets never do that again. Ungrateful boobs.

  9. Most German NGOs do NOT want military protection from the Bundeswehr or anyone else. They say that the presence of soldiers is a risk for their project.
I do not know if this is the case of the GTZ as well, since it is a government agency more or less.
You pointed out “The German contractor handling the roadwork met with Taliban leaders in Kabul in November to convince them to leave the Germans alone.”
So maybe he thought this is enough. No Canadian soldiers required.
BTW: I don’t think the GTZ guy met the Taliban in Kabul, but rather somewhere closer to the road project.
Besides, perhaps the Taliban wanted to attack the Canadian soldiers rather than the road project.
Since the Canadians were guarding the road crews, the Taliban went to the road project and attacked them there.
If the Canadian soldiers had been somewhere else, the Taliban would have gone to that place to attack them.
Do you know of any official Canadian report of this matter?

  10. …unfortunately there won’t be another time to help France.
If they dont’ get their act together regarding unemployed teenage muslim youth, then history books might be renaming the country’s name to Mullance.

  11. this ME stuff is beginning to look more and more like the ‘fight to the death’ crap the GIs faced in the pacific war.
their sol’n which mught just apply here?
oblige them !! kill all of them. wipe them out, let them come screaming over the hill top so you can spot them real easy and the WIPE THEM ALL OUT.
    patience ISNT infinite.
