How Dare You Even Ask

Apparently, the professor was removed from his position as Dean for demanding the “abolition” of policing and incarceration, and demanding a “new, liberated society… free from violence and oppression.” And in which habitual criminals and assorted sociopaths roam freely and unimpeded.

In Professor Dettlaff’s imaginings, a world without physical consequences for robbery and predation would mean “individuals have everything they need to thrive.” Except, of course, any third-party protection from the aforementioned habitual criminals and assorted sociopaths. This “new, liberated society,” in which policing has been “firmly disavowed,” will, he insists, “truly keep us safe.”

Progressive “thought leader” is offended by an occasional request for evidence.

The Libranos: Man The Lifeboats

Jay Currie;

The odds are shortening on Trudeau calling a Fall election. Cabinet shuffle tomorrow, Ministers announcing they will not be running, Trudeau storming through the Liberal backyards of the nation.

I expect Trudeau will use his usual tactic of running against something. Last time it was the unvaccinated. This time my bet is that he’ll run against “Alberta and Big Oil”, “American Tech Giants” and the unCanadian protestors showing up to heckle him.

The Liberal war room will run what amounts to a 150 seat campaign. Metro Toronto, Ilse de Montreal, very select Lower Mainland seats. It won’t be running to gain a majority, rather the focus will be on maximizing the efficiency of its vote.

There will be a serious attempt to “monster” @PierrePoilievre as the heir to Harper and as Trucker and Trump adjacent. That won’t come directly from Lib-HQ, rather it will emerge from the various “activist” communities the Libs have cultivated.

Because his economy turning is not yet done.

The Libranos: Entitled To Her Entitlements

National Post;

The Governor General’s four-day visit to Iceland last fall racked up over $71,000 in limousine costs, according to receipts from the trip.

Obtained via access to information requests by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, expense reports from Gov. Gen. Mary Simon’s October 2022 working visit to Iceland list five separate line items for Icelimo Luxury Travel, a limousine and transportation firm based outside of Reykjavík. […]

“You know the feds spared no expense when the Governor General could have bought a brand new BMW, drove it around the island and then left it outside the airport with the keys inside and still saved money,” Terrazzano said.

“It seems like Simon and her band of bureaucrats go out of their way to spend as much money as possible.”

The Governor General and her entourage were in Iceland to attend last year’s Arctic Circle Assembly — described by Rideau Hall as a means to “…demonstrate Canadian leadership in the Arctic, and reinforce other priority issues for Canada in the north, including climate change, reconciliation, gender equality and youth engagement.”

According to official programs, also obtained via the access to information request, the entirety of the four-day visit took place within Reykjavik — a city of 130,000 people about a quarter of the size of Calgary.

To have and have not.

One of P.E.I.’s biggest provincially owned wind farms is operating at less than 40 per cent of its design capacity.

The wind farm at Hermanville, near the eastern tip of the Island, came online with 10 turbines at a cost of $60 million in 2014.

On Tuesday, the P.E.I. Energy Corporation said only four of those turbines remain functional — with no reason given as to why.

“It’s something that needs to be rectified quickly, because it’s standing in the way of our goals,” said Steven Myers, P.E.I.’s minister of environment, energy and climate action.

Just put your lips together, Steve – and blow.

Our Chinese-Installed Government In Ottawa

Has lost a good man.

A special investigator named by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to probe alleged election interference by China on Friday said he would quit, citing widespread opposition to his appointment and work.

David Johnston, 81, said he would leave his post by the end of June, or as soon as he has delivered a brief final report. Last month he said Trudeau’s government had not ignored evidence of Chinese meddling and recommended against an official public inquest.

Such interesting times.

Chris Selley: Good grief. Judging from his resignation letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Johnston still doesn’t seem to understand what the problem was. At all.

More Pavilions At Folkfest

Diversity is our strength. Until it isn’t.

A Saskatoon judge used a murder sentencing Thursdayto lambaste Saskatchewan men who resort to violence in their domestic relationships.

“It is 2023. Judges should not have to say that this is unacceptable,” said Justice Richard Danyliuk.

“Yet I do, all the time. And I have grown weary.”

Danyliuk convicted Ranbir Dhull earlier this year of second-degree murder in the July 2020 death of Samandeep Jhinger, his ex-wife’s cousin.

Today, Democracy Watch revealed…

… that a search of Elections Canada’s database shows that lawyer Sheila R. Block, whom David Johnston retained to assist him in obtaining, reviewing and analyzing secret information that Prime Minister Trudeau gave them access to, seems to have donated a total of $7,593.38 (listed under “Sheila Block” and “Sheila R. Block”) to only the Liberal Party of Canada from 2006 to 2022. Johnston confirms that he retained Ms. Block for these purposes on in Section II.2) of his first report (page 6 of PDF) which he released yesterday.

Democracy Watch announced that it will file a complaint with the federal Ethics Commissioner’s office that David Johnston is violating the federal Conflict of Interest Act by ruling on his old friend Justin Trudeau’s actions on foreign interference. DWatch already filed a complaint with the Commissioner about Trudeau violating the Act by handing a government contract to his old friend Johnston – click here to see details.

It is a violation of the Act to participate in any decision or action when there is an opportunity to further your own interests, your relative’s interests, or the interests of a friend, and both Trudeau and Johnston are covered by the Act.

Too bad there’s no current Ethics Commissioner to roll out those message-sending $100 fines.

How Can We Further Divide Canada?

Looks like the next election will be a referendum on mandatory jabs.

Liberal.ca- Mandatory Vaccination

To finish the fight against COVID-19, protect people at work, ensure businesses can get back up to speed, and, most importantly, make sure our kids can safely return to school, we need to do everything we can to keep public spaces safe.

A re-elected Liberal government will:

-Require that travellers on interprovincial trains, commercial flights, cruise ships, and other federally regulated vessels be vaccinated.

-Ensure vaccination across the federal public service. As the country’s largest employer, this will protect the health and safety of the federal public servants and their communities, across Canada.

-We will also keep working with employers in Crown corporations and federally regulated workplaces to ensure vaccination is prioritized for workers in these sectors.

Trudeau says taking back natural resources “a non-starter”

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will not move to take away provincial control of natural resources.

The issue of First Nations vs provincial control of natural resources came up at a town hall held at First Nations University in Regina held on April 13. It was a continuation of the dustup between the provincial governments of Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba and federal minister of Justice and Attorney General David Lametti.

Canadian Press;

Newly released documents show that a federal government department asked Facebook and Twitter to delete a newspaper article that it felt contained errors — but both social-media giants denied the request.

The request to remove social-media posts that linked to an unspecified Toronto Sun article came from a director of communications on Sept. 27, 2021, according to information prepared by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

Documents say that staff at the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada, which reports to Parliament through the immigration minister but is otherwise an independent body, believed the article contained “serious errors of fact risking (and) undermining public confidence in the independence of the board as well as the integrity of the refugee determination system.” The board did not respond to questions from The Canadian Press.

The social-media companies ultimately said that they were denying the request because the article wasn’t their original content.

Universal Death-Care

Back in the day, governments sterilized the mentally ill.

Until they got sued for it.

So now, they’ll just kill them.
