Art Of The Fail

‘She’s way out of her league’

Barry Zekelman, the chairman and CEO of Zekelman Industries, delivered a scathing assessment Thursday of how the Liberal government is handling the tariff fight with the United States, accusing the government of squandering opportunities to resolve the issue months ago.

Zekelman, a Windsor, Ont. native who heads a steel empire that has operations in both Canada and the U.S, was asked by MPs about the impact of tariffs on his Canadian operations.

“They have stalled and blown this big time, and our consumers and our industry in Canada is suffering because of it,” Zekelman told MPs on the standing committee on international trade.

“We’re waiting for someone’s ego. They need to get into a room and get the deal done … whether Freeland picks up the phone and calls (U.S. Trade Representative) Robert Lighthizer and says here it is … the deal is available this afternoon.”

NPC Memes Explained

It’s amazing what disturbs the Left.     Even more here.

Several months ago, users on 4chan and Reddit, the online message forums, started using the term NPC to refer to liberals. These people, they said, join the anti-Trump crowd not because they are led by independent thought or conscience to oppose President Trump’s policies, but because they’re brainwashed sheep who have been conditioned to parrot left-wing orthodoxy, in the manner of a scripted character.

Yes, and? Watch just a few #WalkAway videos and this belief will be confirmed in a resounding fashion.

The Good Old Days

Think for a moment what would happen if such a report were released today, 21 months later:

  1. The restaurant would be picketed by SJWs.
  2. The waitress would be harassed by white SJWs, telling her that she is a sell out.
  3. CBS News would get a flood of hateful comments.
  4. The reporter would be fired.

Such are the New Rules that HRC and the rest of the M.A.D. cabal have crafted and stringently enforce.

Enemy of the People

David Catron is fed up with Hillary Clinton and her comrades:

Like the passive onlookers to the attack on Senator Sumner, Clinton’s fellow Democrats have been silent concerning her thinly veiled incitement of violence. Only one of the self-styled moderate Democrats, Senator Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota, found Clinton’s remarks worthy of comment, much less condemnation. And, make no mistake about it, their silence equals consent. By refusing to call out this power-hungry harridan for deliberately casting doubt on the legitimacy of the democratic process and encouraging violence, these cowards render themselves complicit in the inevitable bloodshed.

Gooks In The Wire

Richard Fernandez;

The effects of a decision taken 16 years ago may not only helped sink Hillary, but forms the cornerstone of Trump’s strategy. As Steve Bannon told Bill Maher in a recent interview, Trump’s tariffs, renegotiation of trade agreements and tax policy are all aimed at reshaping the supply chain and reducing American dependence on China. The strategy articulated in Pence’s speech, which Victor Davis Hanson described as a declaration of Cold War II, can also be thought of as an attempt to roll back Bill Clinton’s “last great legislative victory.”

Art Of The Deal

New NAFTA: “When the Washington Post calls something a ‘big win’ for Trump, you know it’s a big win for Trump.”

Agreement at Politico;

The new pact, which is being called the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement, is a major step toward completing one of Trump’s signature campaign promises and gives the president a concrete policy win to tout on the campaign trail this fall. It also sets the stage for what is sure to be a high-stakes fight to get the agreement passed by Congress before it can become law. […]

People briefed on the outlines of a revamped deal described changes in language governing dairy imports, dispute resolution between countries, limits on online shopping that can be done tax free, and limits on the U.S. threat of auto tariffs.

I’m in Michigan and about to hit the road again — share your links and reaction in the comments.

Hillary Clinton’s Public Temper Tantrum

It’s important to remember the old adage that when a Leftist throws out an accusation, they’re very likely talking about their own misdeeds. Keep this in mind when you read through Hillary Clinton’s latest missive in The Atlantic magazine. Here are some key lines:

  • “When we can’t trust what we hear from our leaders, experts, and news sources, we lose our ability to hold people to account, solve problems, comprehend threats, judge progress, and communicate effectively with one another—all of which are crucial to a functioning democracy.”
  • “… there’s Trump’s breathtaking corruption”
  • “… it’s amazing how blithely the president and his Cabinet have piled up conflicts of interest, abuses of power, and blatant violations of ethics rules.”
  • “Trump makes no pretense of prioritizing the public good above his own personal or political interests. He doesn’t seem to understand that public servants are supposed to serve the public, not the other way around.”
  • “… Trump undermines the national unity that makes democracy possible.”
  • From the woman who declared half of all Americans “deplorables” comes this gem: “Trump doesn’t even try to pretend he’s a president for all Americans.”
  • “And you won’t be surprised to hear that I passionately believe it’s time to abolish the Electoral College.”

“We will not cooperate with the [International Criminal Court],” Bolton will say. “We will provide no assistance to the ICC. We will not join the ICC. We will let the ICC die on its own. After all, for all intents and purposes, the ICC is already dead to us.”

Deep State

So it’s true. “Senior Administration Official” Admits There’s a Deep State in the White House “Thwarting” Trump

More from Nick Gillespie;

Exactly the same sort of thing, albeit in softer form, could be said about any White House. There are always factions and cross-currents. How many members of George W. Bush’s administration, for instance, really gave a shit about their boss’ desire after re-election to enact immigration and Social Security reform? Zero. The Obama White House was riven by differences over health-care plans and foreign-policy disputes as well. Read any history of the Reagan years and you’ll find that it was amazing that anything ever got done given all the in-fighting. Bill Clinton actually had officials resign over policy differences. It’s patently absurd to elevate frictions within the Trump White House to an existential threat to the Republic. In fact, it’s the sort of overstatement that is worthy of, well, Donald Trump, who just doesn’t do nuance.

But read the whole, well balanced, thing.
