“You look at where California is now going, the federal government needs to get there.” – radical greens are rushing to offer their guidance to Joe Biden on climate policy. But the immediate risk facing the US people is not climate change. The greatest near term risk is an abrupt structural economic adjustment, in which even people who keep their jobs lose an estimated 30% or more of their spending power.
It was the suffrage movement that got us into this mess.
I’ve often thought that too.
But if a woman is single and owns property in her own name and pays property taxes, she ought to be entitled to vote.
We should try to simplify life, not make it more complicated.

I think we need to go back to when in order to vote you needed to own property.
That way people won’t vote themselves a raise forcing the raising of taxes.
Back in the day, lived in a small town where family friends owned a corner lot. It was not unusual to see signs for different parties on the two sides of their home. But each respected the other, and the results were to be seen.

My parents were that way for many years, until Mum took up a part-time job to ease the family finances. Myself, I worked while spouse went to university, and then – with the advent of offsprings – did a lot of volunteering in community, school, and church. Should I not be entitled to vote?
It’s even trickier when a woman is on “welfare”. Was honoured to meet such a woman many years ago. Husband died leaving her with a flock of young’uns, which she did a great job of bringing up to be responsible adults. My comment, back in the day, was that – instead of having social workers try to advise her – she should have been hired to give practical advice to others on welfare who did not have the coping skills she so evidently had.

I know it’s controversial what I said but I think one vote per household is sufficient.
If a single person is renting a living space they wouldn’t qualify to vote.
There would less votes to tabulate and the will of the true taxpayer would be realized.
IMO a landlord of many properties would still get one vote.
It’s never going to happen, so no worries.
