Winning!

Senate votes to confirm Amy Coney Barrett to Supreme Court

The Senate voted to confirm Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court in a 52-48 vote, capping off a rapid confirmation process ending just days before the 2020 presidential election.

Barrett is President Donald Trump’s pick to fill the vacancy left behind by the late liberal icon, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

With an extra twist directed at Joe Biden.

Happy Birthday, Hillary!

  1. A woman just got confirmed to the Supreme Court who is 1000 times more accomplished and intelligent than the Democrat Senators on the Judiciary Committee who questioned her
In the end not one Democrat voted for her. Why not? They are jealous of people smarter than they are.

Now if Trump is re-elected and Breyer dies and/or Sotomayor and Kagan die of diabetes. Well, Happy Days.

  2. The Trump has insured that the Republic will survive… I am sure both sides will not get their way if they violate the Constitution (14th amendment equal Justice).. She will rule the Court @ all levels….

  3. The rule of the lawyers’ cabal is drawing to a close in the United States. The restoration of the rule of law is well underway.

Scream louder, Ruth. Your cries of torment are music to Justice Barrett’s ears.

  4. There is another case in Pennsylvania where GOP is challenging Penn Supreme Court (dominated by elected Democrats) decision that ballots received after the election date can be counted (note; goes against current Penn law passed by GOP majority State legislature).

Hopefully this can get to SCOTUS in the next few days and, with ACB now sworn in, SCOTUS (despite CINO Roberts who, up until now, is on record as supporting Penn Supreme Court decision) can knock down on basis that legislated law cannot be changed by unelected court, only by elected representatives (a position that ACB should be very comfortable with).

If decided in GOP favour, could go a long way to preventing voter fraud in what could be the key “battleground” state. GO MAGA!

    1. I have idea that Roberts made himself the swing vote and was immensely enjoying the importance he thereby endowed himself.
He wasn’t consistently one way or another and, think about it, on so many issues the whole country hinged on whatever he thought.
Well, hopefully this won’t be the case any more. The USSC will still make the right decision whether it is 5-4 or 6-3. I suspect that in this case, his ego, which drove him to be the swing vote to begin with, may want to align with the winning side. Mind you, that doesn’t make him any more reliably conservative, and we must not be fooled by the apparently conservative change of direction.
P.S. I strongly believe that the new court, having a majority of strict constituionalists, will overturn Roe v. Wade in the sense that it is a national law requiring all hospitals to provide abortion, since the Constitution has made no provision one way or another regarding abortion. But for the same reason, they will not make it illegal nationally. Per the Tenth Amendment, they will allow it to revert to the states. So all those free loving “feminists” in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, etc. will still be able to get their abortion on demand.

  5. “Shout out to Harry Reid who made this all possible!”

So where are all those voices delighted with DIVERSITY OF VIEWS tonight?

    Proving that ACB is PRICELESS!

    1. You assume they have the wits to know when they’re beaten.

Or the honour to die like men.

  6. I literally shudder ~ ~ ~ at the thought of HER beating Trump in 2016 … and the possibility that America would be confirming the THIRD hardcore leftist constitutional deconstructionist … and that America’s fate/destruction would be sealed. Thank you, God ! For delivering this flawed yet PERFECT man into the US Presidency. He has exceeded all my expectations as a conservative leader. Lord … I pray for a Landslide VICTORY for President Trump next week. Anything less will place our country in dire jeopardy.

    1. As do most of us here as well Kenji.
Given our country is lost, he is truly the only hope for the Entire Western Hemisphere.

And huge thanks to Kate, for this most excellent forum….
My main source of news and often excellent commentary..!

  7. “I want you to use my words against me. If there’s a Republican president in 2016 and a vacancy occurs in the last year of the first term, you can say Lindsey Graham said, ‘Let’s let the next president, whoever it might be, make that nomination,'” […] “And you could use my words against me and you’d be absolutely right.”

    – Lindsey Graham, 2016.

        1. Elections have consequences.
It was traditional for the Senate to consider only the qualifications of a nominee to sit on the USSC bench. Only judicial qualification and personal integrity were considered. It was not unusual for a nominee to be confirmed by over 90% of the Senate, regardless of party. Ruth Bader Ginsberg, for instance. But no Senate would have confirmed someone with zero judicial experience, hence no demonstrated judicial qualification. even if a President was so misguided as to nominate such a personal friend.
But the Democrats made it a political process. A Senate with Democratic majority rejected an eminently qualified Republican nominee, Robert Bork. Another Senate with Democratic majority actually confirmed someone who never sat on the bench, that is, has zero judicial experience.
Democrats cannot keep doing this and expect Republicans to just keep confirming Democratic nominees, when Democrats feel free to play political games. Yes, a Republican Senate rejected a Democratic nominee, as I believe with the precedence of Bork, Democrats will reject every constitutionalist nominee. That is the rule that Democrats want to play by now. They, and you, should not complain because what goes around, comes around.

          1. Bork was successfully framed as a religious fanatic opposed to civil rights. Six republicans voted against his nomination. Garland was a moderate who was widely approved across the aisle and his nomination was blocked with quite literally no justification. Get absolutely wrecked son.

    1. Wow! A politician made a statement and later changed positions. Color me shocked. Kinda like ‘George’ Biden’s newfound love of fracking …

  8. Happy birthday bitter Hillary, indeed!

He got it done, again. To my many American friends and dual Can-Am daughter, I seriously wish you the best outcome from this very crazy, excessively pro-longed election season and the inevitable whatever fall-out.

Obviously, as I frequent this site, you know what outcome I prefer, for all of our sakes. One of the favourite tabletop books on my shelf is a throwback to better times:

I look forward to normal borders, decent health care in Canada after COVID (still waiting in queues for a hip), reduced mass hysteria, restored commerce and southern travel, (never to Portland, SF, NY or Seattle again), as soon as feasible.

  9. Maybe Canada will someday have a judge appointed by a duly elected Senate instead of arbitrarily appointed by a plutocratic foreign retard plantation owner related to Harry, Meghan, Andrew and Prince Jughead.

  10. I laughed at the feeble Democrat histrionics during the vote. Walking up to the podium and turning their fist and thumb down like the Roman governors telling the Gladiator to kill the beaten opponent. They then ran away.

I need to utilize my contacts in the hacking community and seize control of the chiron at the bottom of the tv screen during the next Senate quorum.
“The dirty lying Senator from New York, Charles Schumer”
“The senile fool Senator from Hawaii, Mazie Hirono”
“The old bat from California who has done more to ensure Republican success than any other person, Nancy Pelosi”

    I can dream, can’t I?

  11. Trump, for all his faults, is the right man at the right time! He has literally saved the US republic from a fate worse than death. Having ACB confirmed and elevated to the USSC will defend the 2nd for decades. The sanctity of the 2nd, is for me, as a resident of Canada, a symbolic victory of the RTKABA, a right we sadly don’t have here. Time, being the ultimate condition to educate, with observation, and with sanity, it will hopefully bring reason to the minds of Canadian citizens, in proving that the the ability to own, use, and self defend, with firearms, is the greatest symbol of freedom and liberty we have. Not in my lifetime perhaps, but at least a possibility of a future, with a return of political sanity with liberty, justice, and freedom for all, in all of North America. It is not just the 2nd that has been rescued this week, amid this Trump electoral period. Yet the hope for the future of all of those who lean to the right of the political spectrum. We are yet, a very long way from conservative sanity in North America. Before the great ships of state, of both our nations, can be turned around 180 degrees, to begin it’s journey back to the state of sanity, the city of justice, and countries of liberty, we first must halt the decades long foul direction of the “progressive” journey we have been on.

With grateful thanks to Trump, with the new balance at the USSC, with the sanctity of the US constitution now preserved for decades, we can, put away the life preservers, reset the lifeboats back into their stations, raise the flag of freedom again and proudly begin the return journey. It will not be a pleasure cruise, it will be an armada of warships sailing in storm tossed seas, needing to fight an unending battle, for every nautical mile of that long journey. At least now, we have secured the rigging, and loaded the provisions, and filled the munitions magazines. Time to raise the anchor and set sail for a future we can all live together equally with one another, with like minded nations, with nature, and with the planet! A future of Liberty, freedom, justice, harmony and sanity!

well, I can dream can’t I? The next step is to re elect PDJT for another four years.

  12. Oh yeah I almost forgot, Crappy Birthday to the Hilary witch and her demonic democratic minions, may they all rot in a jail cell one day. All of them, Clinton H, Clinton W, Comey, Wray, Yates, Clapper, Brennan, Mueller, Strokh, Page, Lerner, Obama, and Holder. Yeah, I know, I forgot a bunch!
