Social Disease

Stephen Crowder;

Dorsey, Zuckerberg and Co. have now taken an active role in deciding what information people should and should not have in these critical days leading up to the election.

Not everyone is thrilled.

Their attempts to cover up the Hunter Biden emails story last week backfired on them. They’re now getting all kinds of scrutiny. I wrote last Friday that the Senate Commerce Committee is going to have a hearing next week with Dorsey, Zuckerberg, and Google CEO Sundar Pichai. They’re going to be exploring whether the protections granted tech companies under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act enable “big tech bad behavior.”

Many think Section 230 should no longer apply to Big Tech, including Tennessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn…

Certain Republicans must now weigh the Big Cash they get from Big Tech against the certainty Big Tech will rig the next election against them.

  1. I am not certain that it has backfired. It just hasn’t worked flawlessly. If the MSM covered this stuff, Biden would be toast. It’s showing up in the polls already though, so that’s not good for the kleptocrats who need Biden to win to get even richer, but Biden still has a pulse, so it didn’t backfire.

One thing it will do is ramp up Trump turnout.

This story is a runaway train, and they tried to blow the bridge to stop it, and only slowed it down. Not the same as “backfired.”

  2. I like how the Biden campaign has gone into hiding now, after being asked twice about it and both times it was “talk to the hand!” This is going to come up at the debate, and you can bet that Biden’s partner, the “moderator” is working with the campaign right now on strategies to limit Trump’s abilities to talk about this. It will be interesting to see how they can prevent Trump from asking a direct question, such as “Are they authentic or not, Joe?”

A good question might be “Is that game of golf you are pictured playing with with that Burisma executive and Hunter on your ‘official schedule? How about that meeting with that Kazakhstan suspected kleptocrat?”

  3. Interesting tidbit…
First time I clicked the link to Kate’s tweet I got a “This tweet is not available to you”.
Going to her main twitter page I could see the tweet.
Returned to the SDA page and now the link works.
Is this a facet of shadow banning?

    1. I was blocked temporarily from viewing Posobiec, OAN, and a few others on Friday when all this nutty stuff started.

      Yes…something going on.

  4. At election times in the past in the US, there have been situations that arose of politicians, or political candidates for office to do something silly or stupid, such as an affair with someone on the election team, or a stupid yell like a cowboy, a la Dean. This time, Biden is their last hope, and they are covering for him, I simply don’t believe the polls and would bet money, they are trying to manipulate them in favor of the Democratic party. Biden has few attendees at rallies, one rally even had none, he’s also showing signs of dementia, and requiring giant billboards to project his “casual statements”, and can’t answer any decent or hardball questions, flubbing his answers, and mostly hiding in his basement to avoid stupid actions and the media is supporting him. There was even possible Comms equipment at the first Trump/Biden debate, and we hear nothing on that, and we now know the Debate committee is in the tank for Biden, even thought they are supposed to be non partisan. The big tech companies are also manipulating data to support Biden. They are so blatantly desperate, I wonder if there is a far deeper reason for such actions, such as maybe criminal proceedings for all of them if Trump wins, or perhaps even deeper evil intentions that they are all in on. Trump has thousands overflowing at his rallies, and he has a lot of rallies. The media, polls, pundits, and Democratic party are lying to everyone, and will try to steal the election by lying and cheating. If Trump is successful, there will be more BLM, Antifa, violence, massive TDS, and probably civil war. I don’t see any good scenario coming in November, no matter the outcome. What a mess.

  5. Rex Murphy weighs in:

“Let me preliminarily put it in clear terms. Regardless of the ultimate accuracy of the New York Post article, and setting aside concerns over how the documents were obtained, Twitter is not the Communist Chinese government and Facebook is not an arm of the North Korean press. Both should mightily strive not to be seen as in any way adopting the tactics of these regimes when it comes to the flow of information and news to its “users.”

It is not for Facebook or Twitter to arrogate to themselves authority to edit, to ban, or to censor the news as determined by journalists; it is not for Facebook or Twitter to imitate the Roman Catholic Church’s days of the Index Librorum Prohibitorum, or Stalin at the height of his tyranny dictating what people could say, writers could write, and newspapers could publish, or by his command erasing what had previously been written.”

Twitter and Facebook are throwing out poorly manufactured excuses for their behaviour over the Post story. The plain and unadorned fact is these two Silicon Valley monopolists were weighting the election. They were suppressing news to the advantage of the Democratic candidate. They had no business doing this. Jack Dorsey of Twitter is not some Solon guarding the public ear.”

  6. They were suppressing news to the advantage of the Democratic candidate. They had no business doing this.

Now do the New York Times.

Remember when the National Enquirer broke the news about John Edwards’ extramarital affairs because every other news outlet killed the story? Remember how afterward there were Congressional investigations and public demands for the First Amendment to be overturned for newspapers?

    Yeah, me neither.

  7. “I never root for federal intervention.”

Why apologize? If federal intervention is not called for when wicked men knowingly give the enemies of the sovereign aid and comfort, when could it ever be?

Note how the socialists who would think nothing of “liberating” everything of value you own become free-market fundamentalists the moment their friends in Silicon Valley and Wall Street are threatened.

The bricks they fling at policemen don’t pay for themselves. Neither does the kerosene they use to start forest fires.
