    1. Hi Thomas, Apologies, but not being a tech or even computer jargon savvy, I have no idea what that means. EROEI. I’m sure I’m not the only SDA adherent in the same position.

As to the article, with myself being a giant skeptic on “wind solar and renewables” and a believer that nuclear is the direction we need to go, anytime I see such articles, I don’t get an, I told you so moment, but a sad sigh and a head shake. We have allowed the loonie tune greenies to force this idiocy upon us, and the planet and ourselves, will pay the price. In a way, this “discovery” is a good thing. Before we turn our whole economy over to those idiots, we are slowly collecting evidence that they are dragging us in the wrong direction. Somehow, I get the impression that they are far too rabid to redirect their efforts with this new nugget of information. The battle for sanity will continue on for many years…Unfortunately. Some recycling is a good thing, tires for example are now being diverted from landfills. Solar panels and the giant blades of end of life wind farms are far more difficult to deal with. Nuclear is the cleanest and safest method so far developed, yet the irrational fears of nuclear meltdown has sullied its reputation. If we had governments and politicians with spines, we wouldn’t be sinking into this environmental madness.

If it costs you $35 trillion, to mine $1 trillion gold/silver/iron ore/yellowcake, you lose.
If it costs you $1 trillion to build 1 Tesla, but you collect $35 trillion in subsidies for selling it, you win.

    1. steve, it takes four times the energy to build a wind turbine than one will ever produce as long as it may function.

      1. Yes not to mention moving them to where they will stand and all the things that go into that, plus maintaining them and … remember when killing eagles and other birds was a bad thing? Like masks, everything these people support is for show.

  1. Not to mention the amount of land that is rendered useless by building this crap. It also destroys wildlife habitat.

Only the rent seekers and their sympathetic politicians benefit from this scam.

  2. It’s OK guys. We will just get the taxpayer to pay for it. They pay subsidies to build them, subsidies to erect them, and more subsidies to operate. Might as well subsidize their destruction and recycling as well. Our GREEN future looks like the taxpayer will have to go without any GREEN in their JEANS. Is this what they call “Building Back Better”?

    1. Oldtimer, I wonder where the tax money is going to come from now that the whu who flu has destroyed the economy. Well, it really wasn’t the virus it was the insanity that caused the problem. The government destroyed the economy and canadians are so stupid they are still wearing masks even though a fucking mask cannot stop a virus, any virus.

      1. Old white guy: Now we wait for people to get viral colds from wearing masks so full of germs! This is a plan by Trudeau to have Canadians continue forever….controlling us, when do Canadians start to fight back!!!!

  3. Not hearing much about windmills of late. Could that be because they are flipping useless and the environmental pushers know it?
The same with the “giant mirrors”, not seeing any new installations in these parts.
It takes a bit of time for people to figure out who is paying for these eye sores no matter where they’re installed.

    1. There was a fairly steady stream of windmill blades being hauled up past Whitecourt on hwy 43 this summer. Must have seen 3 or 4 trucks when I was working in the area this summer (those are just the ones I saw when I was on the highway…likely missed a lot). Not sure where they were going. Those things are huge when you pass them on the highway though.

As a purely commercial venture we wouldn’t see any of them being installed. As a government subsidy harvesting project that see my tax dollars going from my pockets to millionaires…

    2. LizJ: see my post a little lower down. Boris Johnson has just announced a major new commitment to wind power, but will hide the wind turbines offshore. You can’t collect the dead birds there.

  4. Incoherence is the weapon. It does not matter that they are killing the earth to save the earth; the fact that, that confuses, enrages, demoralizes us, is the point.

Weaponized gas lighting. They pound insanity, till the sane people are questioning their own motivations, thoughts, reality itself.

  5. Take a bad idea, indoctrinate the masses, add loads of taxpayer’s stolen loot, stir, and presto, landscapes littered with toxic waste – all in the name of green energy. The more reach and scope of human existence outsourced to politicians and the state, the worse it will get.

    1. John, take a bad idea, freeze it, and then emotionalize it, that is how stupidity is implemented!

  6. Amidst his gross incompetence in dealing the Wu Flu, Boris Johnson has fully embraced the green energy delusion:

“Ignoring clear evidence that the underlying economics of renewables are disastrous, the Prime Minister has today committed the UK to a further expansion of offshore wind power by 2030, with frightening implications for electricity prices, which would have to treble to pay the real costs.”

    1. This is a result of the base. The base has willingly given up their power.

Say you are a CPoC supporter. If you take the position that no matter what, you will never withdraw your support for the CPoC, then the CPoC can do whatever it wants; you have no power. Without power, nothing you say or do matters. If you actually stop donating when they stop delivering, if you stop voting when they push policy you disagree with, only then do you have any power.

When you have power, then they have to start to listen. Without power, they never need to listen.

Also a false premise going on. The other guy’s base is doing the same thing; they have given up their power, and will never stop voting NDP/Labour/Democrat/whatever. Fools think “if I do some of their policy, then some of their base will move”; but this never works. The fools are all on our side, because their elite knows their is no point ever playing to us, the enemy base.

Always remember, it is easy to get a new elite, never be afraid to dump them quickly and capriciously. Keep them in the position where they are always listening to you very carefully. It is very hard for an elite to build a new base.

They need you, you do not need them. At all.

      1. I hate to point this out, but what are you saying, Kevin? – are you saying that they’re public and civil SERVANTS? And that therefore THEY should serve US, and not the other way ’round?

        We’re doomed……

  7. This photo reinforces what has always been my contention, to call wind and solar energy “renewable” is a lie.
Solar panels and windmills have usable lives of mostly 20-30 years. After that, they are useless and abandoned. (Aside: why can’t they even make standardized motors for the windmills?) That is no more renewable than an oil well which is productive for 20-30 years before going dry.
In fact, much less so. They have found abandoned oil wells to be productive again after lying fallow, shall we say, for decades. The truth is, at least for some wells, if you restrict the production to be no more than the rate of replenishment of the oil, an oil well may well nigh be productive for the conceivable future, that is, be truly “renewable.”

    1. “Solar panels and windmills have usable lives of mostly 20-30 years.”

Why do people keep repeating these lies? Try 5, 10 years. You keep losing, because you keep trying to lose.

      1. Why are you so antagonistic? You do realize I am completely against solar panels and windmills for the grid.
The point of the post is that there is a finite limit, whatever it is, and therefore not “renewable.” How do I “try to lose” by saying that?
You cannot see the forest for the trees. 20-30 years is what they claim. And if, for sake of argument, you take their numbers, you can still make the point that the lifetime cost of those things to the environment is much, much worse than hydrocarbon fuels. You don’t need to introduce the extraneous lower numbers, because then all you do is argue which numbers were true. And if they showed you their numbers are (which they could be in at least some cases) it is as though they won the argument. You should just use their own numbers to destroy their argument.

    2. Old Bruin, These abandoned oil wells are being productive again because I believe they are pumping in water, to allow the remaining oil to rise above the water in the cavity, and then Nitrogen to pressurize the well and force the lower level oil out of the well. As to other wells gaining more oil to become productive again may be true if oil from other areas seep into them, but I am not aware of that occurring. Before retiring, I worked for eighteen years in industrial gases, and Nitrogen is a major product being supplied the oil industry.

  8. We all knew that this mess was going to happen. The Greenies suck in so many gullible buyers into believing their dogma about green energy and creating green jobs. What are they going to do with the toxic mess they’ve created? Create more green jobs? Now it’s Part Deux: the Clean-Up, except…there’s no place to put it.

    1. There’s no way these monstrosities don’t do damage when installed on roofs. Don’t expect there have been any surveys on that score.

    2. There is an argument for installing solar panels on a home roof, especially if you can get other people to pay for most of it. They could be efficient on a restricted basis (solar panels for a house for a single family, but not solar panels for ten million people in the greater Los Angeles area.) Of course, they are much more efficient at my latitude than yours.
I have two basic arguments against them. First, they generally install them flat on the roofs. That is the easiest way. But they have to be anchored really well. Which means no access to the roof below. As you say, when you want to repair a leak. Or worse, when you want to enter a burning attic from the roof. And that is not the most efficient way to catch the sun anyway.
Second, there is no energy regulation. Theoretically all the energy generated is dumped into the grid. What if something goes wrong with the process? All that excess energy may be a major cause of fire itself.
That is why I do not have solar panels. But if I were to install them, they would be installed more like thirty degrees to the vertical instead of horizontal, facing south, to more efficiently catch the sun in the winter, (almost vertical for you) and mostly obviate the problem of roof access. Of course that would add even more weight load to the roof, and you have to make sure the roof can stand it. And there would have to be some kind of shutter mechanism to adjust the rate of production, automatically. All that would drive up the initial cost even more. In any case, that is not technology they have bothered to develop up to now.

  9. To be fair there are certain applications of solar that make them worth having. For example, cattle ranchers like them because they power electric fences that keep cattle in and in remote areas with no grid connection they can power water pumps. They are nice for movable road signs as they charge off sunlight and then run at night without needing a grid hook up. I also really like those wee little lights for the garden in the shape of hummingbirds and angels in yards and cemeteries. Our local cemetery looks like a fairy land at night. However in other capacity they are more expensive and less reliable than regular grid connected stuff and have only a fraction of the power. (My wife has stopped buying those cute little lights due to the fact she can only find made in China stuff.)

  10. Does not matter. Gang Green is all about the greenbacks.
The obvious fact that wind and solar are useless, produce less energy than went into setting them up..Matters not to the Effete Elites.
For it will never be them who have to adjust their lifestyles to suit the availability of intermittent power.
The CAGW scheme has revealed just how far our Parasitic Overload will go,to rob the many poor to further enrich themselves.
Justice and retribution will involve letting them enjoy the “Lifestyles” they have been seeking to impose on the rest of us.

  11. If the Conservative retards in Edmonton spent all the billions wasted on wind, solar, and carbon capture they could have built a hydro dam on the Peace River and had 100 years or more of useful, on demand, electricity. It would likely even eventually produce a profit. Kenney is hopelessly stupid.

  12. Look at the data..
as an example for June 20, 2020, the day with the longest amount of sunlight the Grand Solar Farm (ON) with a nameplate capacity of 100MW was over 90% of its capacity for 5 hours in the middle of the day, but only produced an average of 34.375MW/h over the day
The adjacent Grand WF with a nameplate capacity of 149MW did even worse with a average of 7.54MW/h over the day.

  13. I have said more than enough about this shit, stupid people will destroy themselves, I will not be going with them.

    1. vowg, Ahh, but you could sell em tickets. Might as well make a buck off of their collective insanity.

  14. Green Grift. Once they panicked everyone on the climate change piffle the rest was pretty easy.
Subsidies lined the pockets of those providing the hardware while the smooth brained jackwads of academia received facetime convincing everyone with their cost/benefit equations. And of course, not wanting to be left out, corporate media carried their end with pictures of desparate Polar Bears on ice floes.
Everyone’s a winner baby!!!! Sadly, there are still holdouts not wanting to let go and still trying to sell you B.S.

Now watch as they capitalize on that success by convincing Canadians to line up for miles to receive their “totally free” vaccination courtesy of big Pharma the test results of which I’m sure will be adequately fudged.
Because as you know, it is absolutely imperative that Mr. & Mrs. Beavertail go to Mexico next winter and “gosh darn they won’t let you fly without one…so what are ya gonna do?”.

    Idiocracy

    1. burton, I’ve never been to Mexico, and have no desire to subject myself to poverty, corruption, and cartels.
If they do demand that we are to be forcefully vaxed, they’ll have to screw me down, and if I ever find those who do it afterwards, and they will be warned, I’ll be screwing them down as well. I got the flu two weeks after every annual vax, until about thirty years ago. Once I quit the vaxing, I only once got the flu again, about twenty years back. No more vaxing for me!

  15. The Alternative Renewable energy Failure of 2001 was total & devastating to California.. The Democrat State government was giddy with all that energy promised to them that they could sell.. TO ENRON… Nothing was deliverable then or NOW… The back Story on Enron was the failure of California Energy Windmills & Solar Panels.. They were buying back their own Energy @ 10x the rate

The fact that nobody mentions ENRON & the 2001 California Bankrupt Electrical distribution system is on a level of ignorance to idiotic retardation….It failed in 2001 & nothing has changed, just more Countries building the same shit & chasing Taxpayer Money…Lying to everyone..

AGW is nonsense and has been proven False ..enough already…..

  16. How long before we learn of a GIANT swirling chemical-infused plastic patch in the Pacific Ocean … the size of “California”? … consisting of trillions of microscopic bits of decomposing solar panels?

    Answer: Never. Ever.

But it will still be happening nonetheless. However Fackebook and Twitter will throttle the story … due to “inconsistencies on the verification processes”. Or some such gobbledygook.

  17. Somebody’s gotta stop this! Grifters hijacking solar rays, wind currents with zero compensation to local denizens and profiteering by such egregious tactics is despicable!!
