  1. ““It is in the interest of tyrants to reduce the people to ignorance and vice. For they cannot live in any country where virtue and knowledge prevail. The religion and public liberty of a people are intimately connected; their interests are interwoven, they cannot subsist separately; and therefore they rise and fall together. For this reason, it is always observable, that those who are combin’d to destroy the people’s liberties, practice every art to poison their morals.” ~ Samuel Adams

    1. I read pub owner Sam Adams’s biography years ago, he was the true revolutionary and he was John Adams’s cousin.

That great quote was featured in the book.

  2. Before they went full Nazi, we were told masks facilitated the spread of viruses. Then we were told that masks were good. Now almost everyone took up wearing masks. There has been a resurgance. Are we sure the masks aren’t causing it? Everyone’s face is covered with a fabric Petri dish.

  3. That’s not a whole lot different than WorstJet’s policy. Passengers are required to continually wear a mask unless “actively” eating or drinking, whatever that means. Yeah, I guess it means that I have to cover up between bites, lest I end up killing grannies in Whalephart Cove, Newfoundland.

  4. Gov. Newsom’s missive will help out his state’s struggling restaurant industry. But I’m sure California voters will elect the fool again.

  5. It is amazing that normally intelligent people are falling for this ridiculous fallacy that masks prevent the spread of covid.
I was incredulous at the mask requirement at the local medical lab yesterday. You have to enter the place with a mask on and once in there, you have to take off the mask, dispose of it and put on one that a staff member gives you. What??? And, while waiting, watching the people with the masks below there nose and staff members totally ignoring it. Almost laughed out loud. Travelling to NY state tomorrow and the horror! Never mind that I will be nowhere near New York City and will be spending my time in remote upstate . It is time that we were all treated like adults to make our own decisions. Yes, I will wear the da…n thing where requested. I am seeing the unfortunate effect on my grandkids who are terrified that they are in grave danger. Although only required Grade 4 and above, the younger ones are encouraged to wear them resulting in masks on and off and pulled up and down countless times a day – thought that was a big no no. Makes no sense. If you are a teacher with co-morbidities and are afraid, don’t work. Your choice. The thousands of now unemployed and those with businesses destroyed didn’t have any choice.

  6. Yes, read that elsewhere and of course you know my reply, it starts with the letter S.

  7. My wife and I were traveling in Turkey a few years back, before they began to go full Islam. In a restaurant I noted a family at another table. She: full black burka, he, a casual shirt and pants looking very comfortable. She did the ‘pull down the face covering’ with each bite, then replacing it while she chewed. I thought, “this is insanity”, but at least it’s their insanity.

It’s getting to be time for a full uprising.

A bit off topic, but covid related. Upwards of a thousand BC Ferry workers were furloughed a few months back because sailings were reduced, restricted and traveling with very limited numbers of passengers. This week the BC Labour Relations Board decided their contract supersedes the Corporations ability to pay full salary to people not working.

I’m guessing their each going to be receiving full back pay at a minimum. Will they however, be forced to pay back their $2K month in CERB payments?

  8. the big question, when will they mandate you have to wear a mask while talking on the phone????

    1. Didn’t some particularly dimwit governor in the US mandate that one had to wear a mask while teleconferencing?

  9. I was told last week that washrooms were dangerous and I should consider wearing diapers when I go to town to avoid the washroom. Not sure how I am going to wash my hands but who am I to argue with the such experts.

I got a suggestion from someone here to just whip it out and pee on the floor next time. I might try that, except I don’t know if I could actually get the flow started with all that staring.

  10. Things are getting stupid.
    This is gross and unsanitary.
Within minutes of eating, that mask has to be replaced because it would have food bits decomposing as germs on it.

Dr Tam was right at the beginning, masks don’t help.

  11. I know MANY sheep in San Francisco who will comply. But how about this alternative idea:

    Bite – “F$ck” – Bite – “You” – Bite – “Herr” – Bite – “Newsom” ! ! !

  12. I have spent a lot of time looking for a single medical paper that provides any evidence that the wearing of masks. N95 N100 or cloth, will reduce the chances of infection from a respiratory virus like C-19. There does not appear to be one. I have found 7 papers that conclude the wearing of N95 or N100 masks have limited effect in preventing spread from a contagious individual but do almost nothing to prevent becoming infected. In another study, a systematic review and meta-analysis (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33015206/) was initiated to determine the efficacy of cloth masks, compared to N95/100. The conclusion: Cloth face masks have limited efficacy in combating viral infection transmission. This study was from July of this year.

-Benjamin Franklin 1775-6 in a letter to the governor of Pennsylvania

When I speak out against the forced wearing of masks people assume I am against wearing masks.

This is not true. What I am against is the FORCED wearing of masks.

I did not join the military and become one of those mentioned by George Orwell,

“We sleep safe in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm”

so that we all would stand by and watch our God given freedoms daily robbed of us by people, whether of good or bad intent,

we put in power over us.

Mandatory mask wearing, destroying our economies around the world, and ruining lives through ill thought decisions

are all examples of malevolent outcomes no matter the intentions behind the choices.

Equally important to the mask matter is the Principle of Informed Consent.

Clearly the wearing of masks has not been thought through.

First, we had the “authorities” tell us masks are not effective followed by you will wear the masks or be arrested or denied access to our stores (Wal-Mart, Costco,

Superstore are examples I encountered). The businesses are free to choose, but I am also free to shop elsewhere. I do when I can.

Second, the masks are clearly of minimal effectiveness against viruses.

Most masks have acceptable passages thirty times the size of the Wuhan virus.

This will not stop anyone from getting Wuhan.

The best most masks will do is stop small droplets escaping while exhaling.

Effective against Wuhan if you have it and it is in your droplets, but worthless against any virus otherwise.

Third, there are many claims by “authorities” that wearing masks while healthy is bad for your health.

This is because the masks trap moisture containing bacteria, mould, fungi, and so on

instead of ridding itself harmlessly into the air which is part of the body’s defenses.

The masks provide a rich breeding ground for growth.

Now you breathe the bad things back in and defeat a valuable defense against illness.

It was pointed out that medical staff wear masks for extended times.

True, however, these are high quality masks (I assume) and most important, they change them throughout their shifts.

For me to voluntarily choose to wear a mask I need the Principal of Informed Consent to be satisfied.

What kind of mask is effective against viruses, specifically Wuhan?

How long will such a mask be effective? What are the side effects of wearing said mask?

Until those questions are answered by someone who knows for sure

I have a message for those who wish to protect me from myself:

    There’s a lake and a pier—keep walking.
