    2. None of the gargantuan level of welfare would have been necessary if we simply didn’t do a shut down. That was the big mistake. We will never get that money back and I’ll bet half of it was not needed or was received by someone who was not entitled.

      I didn’t get shit from anyone. I had to dig deeper into my retirement savings. When they run out I will either turn to crime … which pays in Canada. Or I will become a ward of the state. That’s the Canadian dream in a nutshell.

J West, I am sure the Libs will skim a minimum of ten percent for their own pockets, and another ten for the party pockets, another ten for “unavoidable losses”, another ten for “mistakes”, another ten for “cost overruns”. Another 20 percent going to those who don’t need or deserve it, and the rest will just have been wasted. We should have NEVER shut down the economy, and we also need herd immunity. I’m in the “old” group, and still think it was wrong. Trudeau really is a nasty corrupt, unethical, narcissistic, morally bankrupt, ignorant and stupid, leader, if we can even apply that label. He is truly the worst PM this country has ever had the displeasure to entertain.

        1. Stephen – am not too certain. What if you were over 65 and still working, but the job disappeared? There are those over 65 who don’t receive either OAS or CPP because they are still working and plan to collect enhanced benefits when they reach 70.

I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve heard of people turning down work, because they can get the same or more from the CERB payouts. It’s gonna be painful for them to go to work to pay it back to the Trudeau Government. I’m retired, so only got $300, which doesn’t even cover the inflation caused by the devaluing of our dollar by this stupidity, and we’re not getting raises to cover the rising costs either. We’re all gonna be a lot poorer real soon. Stocking up on rice, noodles, and oatmeal for the coming dark years.

I don’t know what basket they are basing inflation numbers, but it is clear that it is not based on real inflation. Fake numbers have been sanctioned by all world banks.

  15. L-The purpose of turning a pandemic from being medically manageable into a panic-demic is political. The tyranny then used the panic to justify shutting down much of the economy. It literally ordered citizens to leave their jobs, to be unemployed. To be rendered dependent on that very same tyranny for food and shelter… life itself.

    The suppression of the medically relevant data was used to make those at low and very low risk feel afraid. The MSM and the Public Health bureaucracy is still doing that by suppressing that the # of positive diagnosis of those asymptomatic and so mildly symptomatic as a “second wave”. Rather than what it is, evidence of how few are at high risk and that advances in treatment have reduced the mortality rate to a fraction of what it was in March and April.

      1. I inherited my tradesman father’s tools. He bought the best he could afford. I’ve got a lot of Snap-On sockets and wrenches. There are a few Grays and Protos in that lot as well.

        I bought most of the tools for my car well over 30 years ago, mainly Motomaster but one or two by Craftsman.

    2. I was among those who were unemployed during the 1980s thanks to the policies of PET and Mulruin. I hated being on the dole, finding it dishonourable and embarrassing.

      People thought I was lazy and wasn’t trying hard enough to find a job, preferring to sit on my butt and get all that “free” money. I wanted a job, but my profession got clobbered during that time.

      I could have taken something temporary, but employers don’t like it when they hire someone who’s going to quit in a few weeks. But, whenever I did find something befitting my qualifications, I paid my share of income tax and the pogey I received was more than paid back.
