        Yup. Get on an airliner nowadays and just watch how people scrub everything–ev-ry-thing–around their seats with the “sanitizer” tissue they’ve been issued, and even that’s not enough for them. They’d do the whole plane if they had their way. Now try sitting either next to or near them for the duration of the flight….

        I’ve never used sanitizer because I don’t think it’s going to help my sanity.

    Such a rush to open schools long before they had new equipment, staffing and new ventilation is a recipe for failure.
    Also the Premier states to have the most expensive fines on the planet for any violations of these new policies.
    The police should stop colluding with the government in being their enforcers of policies and do their job in arresting politicians who keep breaking our laws instead of turning a blind eye to this.

All I can say is “keep it up!” As I have posted before, the new social landscape will be very different and the K-12 Public School System will be only for those parents who don’t care about their children’s education. Most parents have discovered that the curriculum can be taught quickly and well at home , OR parents will deem it important to send their sons and daughters to charter schools or private schools and will save to pay the tuition.

      Teachers have whined and complained too often in the past 20 years and have threatened or gone on strike once too often. There will be blood.

    5. What will be the disaster? In Durham region Ontario, 80 percent of the 181deaths have been over 70 YO and none have been under 40. The last death was 4 June. I suppose we can all run around in circles and panic because the number of people hospitalized doubled yesterday!!!! There are now two people in the regions 5 hospitals overwhelming the health care system. Lets lock everything down and destroy the economy to flatten that curve!!

      I’d be curious to know what the normal mortality rate is for the over 80 set who are residents of nursing homes because they can no longer take care of themselves in any given winter. I’d bet it’s pretty much the same as it’s always been.

    Awhile back you ran a story on the ghost town, Cerro Gordo in California. I have an amazing story about it that I was unable to post at the time. Several years ago I was on a motorcycle trip with some friends. We had called ahead to the owner at Cerro Gordo and he agreed to make us lunch. After going up a pretty windy road we made it to the old hotel. During lunch, I got to spend some time with the owner. It was chilly and he was heating the place with an antique wood stove. Since the hotel was all wood and built in the late 1800’s I wasn’t surprised to hear that it had burned down. Anyway the owner was telling me why he had bought the ghost town. It was the dream of his wife to buy and restore the town and make it a tourist attraction. It was a dream long in the making and just starting to be fulfilled. He showed me her picture and she was a beautiful blonde girl. Unfortunately, she had contracted a fatal disease and had died. Her husband now seemed to be a lost soul. When he told me this story I was astounded for a couple of years earlier we had been on another bike ride and visited a ghost town by the name of Shakespeare, just outside Lordsburg, New Mexico. While there, I met the owner and spent some time with him. He explained to us that buying the ghost town was his wife’s idea and was the fulfillment of a long held dream. She wanted to restore the town and make it a tourist attraction. He showed us her picture. She was a beautiful blonde but who had died young from a fatal disease. He too seemed like a lost soul. When I asked the owner at Cerro Gordo if he had heard of Shakespeare he said he had, since the ghost town owners are a small community, but that he didn’t know the owners. He did tear up as I related what had happened. Just think, both men lost the love of their lives in similar circumstances hundreds of miles apart. They were only left with their wives’ dreams. I’ve always wondered if they ever met.
