Carbon Me, Boys

Blacklocks (paywalled);

A British Columbia carbon tax hailed by cabinet as a model for the nation has not lowered greenhouse gas emissions, says the Department of Environment. Even rebates for electric car buyers failed to cut pollution in B.C.’s transport sector: “British Columbia shows it.”

It didn’t fail. “Carbon” was the pretense, revenue was the objective.

  1. The Liberal Party has its Toronto Star push a major story this morning, what is “progressive” Doug Ford doing about the most important issue facing Ontario, global warming.

    1. This is routine propaganda technique. Let me structure the questions and I can produce a survey which will say anything you want. They need something to distract from the WE scandal, the Scumburgers’ forthcoming midnight flit from the country after the moving trucks pulled up to their offices yesterday, Climate Barbie losing track of billions in development grants, Spawn needing to do whatever he can to ensure the cooperation of NDP head noodle Jagmeet, and the corrupt termination of Parliament to avoid answering questions about WE.

So of course the RedStar will cooperate.

  2. “Carbon” was the pretense, revenue was the objective.

Coming up next after the break here on Action News At 11, scientists discover that water is actually wet….

    1. Revenue is a bonus – the objective was validating the fraud officially to allow other jurisdictions to also move forward with the plan to take control and ration of the worlds life blood and as such subjugate humanity.

And as such there should be a special place in hell for Gordon Campbell.

    2. You mean , scientists discover that “hydrogen” is actually wet?
After all, there is more justification to calling H2O “hydrogen” than calling CO2 “carbon”. There are two hydrogen atoms in one water molecule, and only one carbon atom in one carbon dioxide molecule.
Yup, the “party of science” insists on calling carbon dioxide, a compound, “carbon”, an element. They also insist on dozens of “sexes” when nature only has two. (Even the one in a thousand anomalies with three sex chromosomes exhibit male or female characteristics depending on presence or absence of Y chromosome, usually indistinguishable from people with two sex chromosomes.) They also keep peddling AGW after over half a century of failure

  3. So when are the citizens going to launch a case against the government for fraud (taking money for a specific purpose and not delivering the stated objective)? Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice…shame on me.

    1. So when are the citizens going to launch a case against the government for fraud (taking money for a specific purpose and not delivering the stated objective)?

      In B. C.? Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!

        1. It wouldn’t surprise me if some Lotuslanders are aghast that they aren’t paying more…. for the sake of Mommy Gaia, of course. (Yeah, they’re that crazy there.)

          1. Don’t fool yourself, the Greentards would be quite happy to double the price of fuel out here, cuz killing Gaia, or something like that

          2. Well when you have a populace that re-elects a complete MORON for Mayor twice..(Gregor Robertson)….and expect Civil disturbance…over a BS tax….???You just might be one of that rare extinct species in the Lower MAOland – A Conservative.

To bad VanderZalm got crucified by YVR’s beyond IGNORANT & Fully ASSHOLE Media…he was to me one of the best Premiers BC ever had.

When the Big one Comes – and its overdue…I shall take that as Karma….

  4. Raising the speed limits on several of our BC highways didn’t turn out to be quite the smashing success that the government predicted either.

    1. Lowering the limits didn’t stop accidents either, go figure!

Going 120k on a long stretch of divided highway is just as dangerous as 110k, especially when most drivers are not doing the posted limit.

Accidents aren’t caused by speed, they are caused by inattentive actions and lousy drivers, no matter the speed. And yes there’s a lot of crappy drivers out there that never get near 100k.

      1. One time snorkeling in the small bay at George Town, Grand Cayman looking down below there were all this fish in a V formation beginning just below me and stretching wide forward. Wondering what’s the deal, I look back and there it was, a big barracuda. Not being familiar with that kind of situation I flapped my way to the safety of boat.

Driving west toward Vancouver past Chilliwack on Hwy 1 along with all the speeders, suddenly everything slowed down to the speed limit. After a while in a curve where you could see toward the front of the slowdown, ha, there he was, a police cruiser and all the traffic behind him was just like the fish in front of the barracuda only this time, behind him/her/it, neatly following.

        1. A friend who was RCMP in Coquitlam. New to the force one of his first duties was picking up a broken cruiser out in the valley.. He couldn’t get it going faster than 50 on the freeway coming in to where ever it was going.. Said he laughed because people wouldn’t pass him so there was a huge lineup behind him.. Sheep.

          1. Once passed an OPP going 30 k faster than him. I was doing the limit and he was plodding along with the others because of a snow storm. He couldn’t have caught me if he tried but he did throw me a dirty look.

          2. Coworker told of once catching up with an OPP officer and following him. Officer was speeding. After a couple minutes turned on his lights, pulled my acquaintance over, and wrote him a speeding ticket.
He was mad and decided to fight it. Ex-Navy, intelligent and a bit feisty. Explained to the judge what happened, and said that while he wasn’t sure whether he was breaking the speed limit, he figured that there ought to be no better example of what speed is legal than that being driven by an officer of the law.
Judge asked the officer if he was responding to an emergency: “No”.
Judge asked the officer whether he was driving with his siren on or lights flashing: “No”.
Judge told the OPP officer to get lost.

          3. Another fun story. Relative coming north on I5 through the Siskiyous with 4×4 pick-up and camper.
CHP stopping everyone for mandatory chain-up. Brother says are you kidding me, I’m from Canada, have 4 wheel drive and snow tires all around. This is nothing.
Officer tells him no exceptions. Brother looks at officer’s car… 2WD and mediocre tires. He’s only a few minutes from the Oregon border. Says to the officer, tell you what, if you can catch me, you can write me a ticket. And off he went.

  5. The near-term objective was the export of even more north American manufacturing to China and keeping down the price of oil so Red China could continue to grow at eight percent.

The ultimate goal is the destruction of Western capitalism and its replacement by fascism with Chinese characteristics.

British Columbia is to become a Chinese colony, with its white population to be deported to training camps in the interior—to return to civilization in the form of “donated” organs and cheap pork dumplings.

  6. It didn’t fail. “Carbon” was the pretense, revenue was the objective.

^^THIS.  Carbon taxes have failed to achieve their stated objectives everywhere they’ve been tried.  General revenues are the only thing pols care about.

    1. Well, who would not heat their house in winter in this demented Dominion? Don’t forget the GST/HST, too.

  7. The Green Goblin consumes all. (someone tell the irish fella)
It has certainly”worked” in rapidly increasing the price of food.

If I were to describe it in the same fashion as the Canadian Government-owned Propaganda Media describes your yearly extortion, also known as taxation, I would have to say your “investment” in your weekly eating habits is increasing very quickly.

In a math doesn’t matter world, that must be a good thing, right?
Language is so confusing these days.
    The government oughta do something.

  8. They must be running out if steam with the whu who flu. Too many people are beginning to realize they were screwed over by the government and so called health experts. Of course most sane people realize that CO2 was not and never will be a pollutant or cause of global anything other than greening.

    1. Insanity runs amuck in Canada!
What used to be the Conservative Party is endorsing the Paris Climate Scam.

I’m here to announce the end of the world
It’ll happen sometime between now and high noon
It doesn’t give you much time as it’s happening real soon
It’ll start with a whimper, it’ll end with a bang
It’ll leave a big hole where we could have sang”

Arrr it be carbon me boys, the dagos entire treasure fleet was good for mayhap a weekend in Tortuga, this be a grander fortune indeed.

  10. It’s a grift to enrich employees of NGO’s whose function is to frighten the sh*t out of those gullible enough to buy what they’re selling.

I think I read about their scheme on this website as a matter of fact. A fairly long thread done by an individual who sure seemed to know what he was talking about.
Forgot his name of course. An Indian fellow if memory serves.

  11. Update – Remember the Breitbart story about Tapper meddling in Pennsylvania’s Congressional race, by urging Sean Parnell not to run against Democrat Connor Lamb?

Tapper lied. He did exactly that. I know, big surprise.

  12. Yes, the government and the “green” lobbyists want to get rich, by taking everyone’s $$$. But they also want everyone’s net disposable income. These “greens” are dedicated to the destruction of our capitalist, consumer-driven economies … and what better way to destroy capitalism than to steal everyone’s personal profits … their disposable income. The “greens” don’t want the average citizen to enjoy the fruits of their labor … but to be ground down by the millstone of energy inflation and high taxes.

    1. I had this discussion in Greenland in the late 90’s, with a bunch of Danish dudes. They didn’t have any disposable income back then and marveled that we Kanuckistanians could invest some our hard earned money instead of giving it all to .GOV like they were already doing. Soon to change here, though if rumors of our next “budget” ring true.

    2. Yep, Canada’s own Maurice Strong said exactly that. Strong and the UN went on to create the whole global warming scam which so many idiots believe…even after reading Strong’s own words and plan.

      1. Lets not forget that STRONG was also a HUGE Proponent of De-Population…pushed by the Rothschilds and Rockefellers…

They want us all dead – that cannot be disputed.
Their methodology is to first destroy the Western Economies – seems to me they’ve done admirable work in that direction. Via IPCC bs and Covid bs
And next..?? The End of Cash.
        Mandatory Vaccinations
        Mandatory TRACKING
Mandatory Islamization of those that are left. Makes it Much easier to control us ya see.
        in time the Kampfs.
        …..the Ovens.

and the population..? oblivious to it all

It’s all so fucking predictable….we even have a blueprint:
The End of the Weimar Republic up to April 1945

But wtf do i know….I’m just a tin foil hatted nutter.

        1. The end of cash gives me a real fear. At some point those in control of money transactions could decide to boot undesirables off the system or restrict them somehow. And you can bet that the definition of undesirable will warp and expand.

Cash means that even undesirables have access to money. Take that away, and our freedoms could soon follow.

          1. Canadians don’t want freedoms of any kind. That was clearly demonstrated more than 50 years ago and, more recently, with 2 federal elections.

    3. Kenji, There is some nattering going on that suggest Bitcoin was introduced to prepare people to start accepting the idea of digital currency alongside fiat paper money. Then the next move, will be to abolish paper money altogether. Once that is done, they will then have complete control of every aspect of all business finance, and everyone’s personal finances as well. No more tax evasion, no more hiding your wealth, or tax havens. They can then control our lives completely. If you are out of favor for some perceived slight, they can stop you from the spending or buying of everything. Food, shelter, clothing, medical care, all within the government reach. You do or say something they disagree with, your digital account can be locked, or manipulated, or disappeared altogether. They can then make you compliant for anything they wish. They probably will do away with elections as well, as its now become, “a Post nation state”. Our only choice will be to comply, or revolt and live in a barter trade style system, with an underground economy. Woe become, anyone found to be doing such nefarious things. Welcome to the new world order comrade!

      1. What GerryK said…

Home Depot in Calgary starting with that No Cash BS…
Next time I go, I will ensure to Proffer a 10 or 20…and point out that the business is in contravention of the LAW.

CASH is still LEGAL TENDER. It says so right on the notes.

  13. It was always about politicians extorting money from the working stiffs.
If the homo sapiens caused change in the climate, it would have been easy to fix it.
Since it is a natural phenomenon, there is not one damned thing that we can do about it.
Climate is a complex system, it works its way up and down, faster and slower, hotter or colder.

If anybody, does not matter how many titles there are after their name, claims that they know how to fix it, they are engaging in sophistry of lies.
They went to school for a long time to learn the proper syntax on how to manipulate the politicians and the mass media cartel into scamming a lot of money for a lot of hot air.

    Its a scam.
The interesting thing is, they know its a scam.

    1. Lev, next time some greenie idiot spouts off about fixing “climate change” before it’s to late, ask them for a detailed explanation of how it should be done??? I bet they become tongue tied, or blabber about a Suzuki or a scientist needing to figure it out. Of course if its that simple, wouldn’t they be doing it already? Of course, that would dry up the funding, so they won’t go there. Just like all the lawyers and courts, if they could fix the crime and drug things, they would put themselves out of work, so that ain’t happening either.

Because these idiot alarmists have turned a bunch of people into fearful blubbering fools, into a 24/7 365 day panic over it, just to keep that lucrative grant money flowing. Kind of like a more sophisticated form of welfare, for those teat sucking leeches. Keeping people fearful, means keeping them controlled over here, while they skim a little off over there.

  14. Have to go back to the tried and true method of the Aztec to stop (the mythical) climate change. That evil Cortez made the Aztec stop cutting out people’s hearts for sacrifice to the sun god and look what happened. Actually, nothing except members of conquered tribes got to live longer.

  15. Campbell’s motive for initiating his original “revenue neutral ” carbon tax was pure political calculation. He was trying to pull green votes that would otherwise go, in those days, to the NDP. It was never going to change behavior and I think that he knew it. For that to happen we need to see the tyrants go full soviet union and the Spawn, under Butts, appears to be doing so.

  16. I did some resesearch on this at an early point and it was obvious to me that they did not have a solid claim on the tax reducing emissions. Various factors came into play — like some people filling their tanks across the border in the US and the population moving into BC being a largely downtown, carless population. Various factors contributed to this not being a realistic test of the validity of carbon tax, even though it was touted as such. Other attempts researched at the time tried very hard to make the carbon tax look like it would reduce emissions, but they were not convincing. Either there were a LOT of exemptions which rather defeated the purpose, or they would claim “yes” can reduce IF used in conjunction with other reduction measures. My sense was that the researchers felt compelled to avoid saying a carbon tax really does not work to reduce emissions. Since CO2 is only .04% of the atmosphere, and of that only 3.9% is contributed by humans, the whole thing seems very silly to me. Those figures are seldom mentioned.

    1. LindaL, “seems very silly to me”, If you realize that most politicians think the peasants are, for the most part dumb, and easily “guided”, they don’t expect that rational thinking people will do any research themselves, and that the masses would do as they are told, if lied to long enough. Once global warming, er, um, climate change, became established, they could fool the public into paying a carbon tax. Not really silly at all.

Follow the money! The climate science hoax keeps the grant monies for researchers, and the David Suzuki types, lining their pockets, they then turnabout and keep up the climate change pressure on Joe public, so the Government can fleece us some more. It’s “Creative taxation”, and the government hands out the grants. Actually a good, but corrupt, business model. Add to that the fact that five hundred plus volcanoes and their annual output, will dwarf anything that humans can contribute. Plus forests need carbon to produce oxygen. So I’m actually wondering when they will try to tax oxygen or its use.

When you consider that most politicians begin their political careers with fairly frugal bank accounts, but end up at the end of their careers wealthy. Then gee, I wonder where that wealth came from? The reason for ever increasing tax revenues is because the swamp continues to grow, therefore needing further revenues through “creative” taxation. Every time a lobbyist gets a politician to successfully introduce a new bill, or do something that benefits the customers of those lobbyists, the politician gets a lucrative kickback, um, sorry, a generous contribution. A bunch of bucks is then skimmed off for the politicians personal enrichment. This latest excess in spending for Covid related billion dollar spending, is a giant cash cow for all swamp dwellers. That is a simplified version of some of the creative schemes they conjure up to fleece the taxpayer. Surely you didn’t think these politicians were just wanting to “serve” their country, for the betterment of its peoples, out of the goodness of their hearts, did you? That is also part of the reason they don’t like Trump reducing taxes, because it is a negative attack on their business model.

  17. In related news, Blacklock reports that Angry Adolf’s cabinet yesterday approved millions of dollars in subsidies for tidal energy projects. This even though past taxpayer funded tidal energy projects have been flops.

  18. “It didn’t fail. “Carbon” was the pretense, revenue was the objective.”

    Exactly correct, Kate.

  19. The Kleptocracy can never stop stealing.
Charging gullible and compliant taxpayers for the pleasure of being warm in their own homes?
    Double Plus Good.
    Taxing Air?
    Even Better.
The parasitic overload that now dominates Canada will never stop.
There is no upper limit to their thefts.
    Parasites never let go voluntarily.
It is not in their nature.

  20. Tax a product with inelastic demand and expect it to reduce consumption? Where do the BC Bolsheviks find economists that stupid? They aren’t even that stupid at UBC.

    1. They aren’t even that stupid at UBC.

I was a student there for a year. Yes, they are that stupid.

  21. Hey, don’t look at me.

I’m not the guy who keeps telling you that “conservative” party that has a climate plan, is the only chance to “defeat” Trudeau. I’m not the guy still giving money the the “Saskatchewan” Party, that has a bigger “climate plan” book than any of the federal parties.

    1. SAME….ripped up my Con card back in 2017…
Only ones who get any geld from me is the WildRose Independance Party.

The rest can KISS my Western (_i_)

Kindly give the Captcha 5000 gms of VALIUM PULEEZE..!!

      1. It is kind of hopeless, isn’t it. If you go to the restaurant, and you order fettuccine carbonara, don’t be surprised when you get carbonara.

If you want something different, you have to demand different. You have to insist on different.

If you order marinara, and they bring you arrabiata or alfredo, you send it back to the kitchen. You don’t just eat it, and pay up, and keep going back.

  22. Its funny to contemplate that there are some people out there that actually thought a “carbon tax” would indeed reduce emissions, despite reality, like uncontrolled “immigration” for one… how can you reduce “emissions” while you increase the population… The only people that knew for certain that this tax scheme would not in any way reduce ’emissions” were the greasy politicians that imposed the tax scheme in the first place. When your dealing with a pig ignorant populace you can tell em anything and they”ll believe it no matter how outrageous… the Government can control “emissions” by way of a punitive tax grab. DUMB.

  23. People in BC are pro carbon tax but want lower gas prices. That’s the kind of electorate we’re dealing with here.
