    2. So when Bill Morneau boasted about the fantastic interest rate he negotiated for the Government of Canada when borrowing $343 billion [“so Canadians wouldn’t have to borrow the money] did he happen to mention that every time Canada’s credit rating goes down, the rate of interest charged to the Government of Canada goes up.

By the way, how much does the Government of Canada pay in interest for each $1 billion borrowed …

      (a) at the old interest rate?
      (b) at the new interest rate?

      1. Thirty years ago, the markets were in turmoil because many Third World countries were so deeply in hock that they could never pay the interest, let alone the principal. Eventually, the lending banks decided it was quicker and easier simply to wipe those loans off the books and let those countries off the hook. The markets settled down after that.

It makes one wonder if our federal government is hoping for the same thing.

  1. https://www.steynonline.com/10591/a-house-divided

Tal has been an excellent addition to Steyn Online.

I realize that he has been with Mark on a number of tours, etc. lately, but the columns he has posted lately have been among the most precient items I have read lately.

I too, have given thought to the break up of the U.S. and also Canada. I would make the comment that instead of states or provinces redividing, force certain metropolitan areas out. In Canada if all of Canada ‘left’ Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, that should work. However, we would still need to re-establish our values as dominant. After all, as Mark Steyn points out often, politics is down stream of culture.

  2. Here’s from an actual Doctor:

When someone dies from a disease like COVID, they don’t just die from the virus. They die because their lungs get torn up and they can’t breathe. They die because the virus tears apart the cells lining their windpipe and lungs and deadly bacteria crawl in. They die because the virus causes tiny blood clots that stop blood from flowing to their organs. Without blood, the organs fail. If organs like your liver fail, you’d die because toxins build up in the blood and kill their brain. This report lists the diagnosis codes that were included in the death certificates of those who died due to COVID. People can have more than one diagnosis code at a time. For example, lots of people have a code for obesity “E68-E68” and diabetes “E10-E14” at the same time. You’ll notice that the numbers for the diagnoses add up to way more than 161,392. Usually, the death certificate is set up to be like they died from “A” due to “B” due to “C”. For example, in COVID this might be that they died from “acute respiratory distress syndrome (lungs failed)” due to “pneumonia (infection in the lungs)” due to “COVID-19”. This report says that “For 6% of the deaths, COVID-19 was the only cause mentioned.” That does not mean that only 6% of those people died from COVID. After intense investigation (autopsy reports and death certificates are long and detailed!), 100% of these 161,392 people died due to COVID. However, for 6% of cases, there was not another cause listed. That would be due to a very rare circumstance where someone dies from COVID, but the doctors aren’t sure why they died (i.e. their lungs or organs didn’t fail). More likely, it’s a clerical error and they just neglected to list the other causes. In conclusion, this is totally incorrect and a misinterpretation of how death certificates work.

    1. Yes, and as per the main thread that you posted this on, only 6% of COVID patients actually died only from COVID. Your quoted number source supported this. Somehow, in your world, COVID now causes Diabetes, Altzheimers, Obesity, and Injuries and poisoning (among many others).

Co-morbidity does not mean what you seem to think it means. That’s why motorcycle accidents are listed as COVID deaths. Re-posting your idiocy doesn’t mean you’ve learned anything from the attempts to educate you.

Please consider applying the first rule of holes.

      1. You seriously cant be that dense. Diabetes, alzheimers, and obesity dont cause death. Just like Covid19 doesnt. It is the complications of all the above that cause death.

All of the conditions that cause death on Covid19 death certs are caused by Covid19. The actual amount of death certs where only Covid19 is listed should be 0. Just like there should never only be obesity, alzheimers, or diabetes listed. They may get revised later.

CDC guidelines state that unless Covid19 contributed to the death, do not list it

        1. “Diabetes, alzheimers, and obesity dont cause death. Just like Covid19 doesnt.” Good one! No, it’s the lack of apostrophes that does it!

        2. Diabetes doesn’t cause death? I guess my father, who was a diabetic for more than 50 years, wasted his time taking insulin, didn’t he?

    2. You can copy and paste from another link, I can copy and paste my reply from another link. Let it go already. You are wrong.

Are you the doctor, or is there a link?
Anyway, worldwide, there are literally millions of doctors, and you can quote any number of doctors on any side of the issue.
Like the warmists are “real scientists” too, LOL, who have failed on every prediction for half a century. A lot of “scientists” and “doctors” have axes to grind or grants to protect, and you have to learn to separate the wheat from the chaff. Which you haven’t yet.

      1. Yes. They had to watch Swedish cultural programming and all died.

They might say they’re still alive, but everyone knows what liars those Swedes are (according to my uncle, a Finn).

          1. Forgive me, eh! Just kidding.
(Boy that Allan must be exhausted tonight.
He musta gone beddy-bye with aspirin.
            You guys were swell today!)

    1. And 20 seconds in the fake is identified as a Fiero. Can’t miss those squared guages.

    1. How long before she’s sacked for going against the prevailing ideology?

      1. She is under investigation. I hope she stays safe and employed. I also hope that more truth will emerge.

  3. No link, but an observation in a Styx video that counts as a tip.
If you are on a forum or other site that you suspect is being targetted by Chinese agents or posters you can apparently get rid of them quickly.

Just post about Tiananmen Square Uyghurs Uighurs Uygurs or Uigurs in concentration camps, Falun Gong, or organ harvesting.

Apparently, the Chinese internet is so heavily monitored that even viewing these topics reduces the social credit score of the CCP agents so they quickly leave and move to other sites to continue there work since they don’t want the CCP to think they are compromised.

Guess they have to stay off readers tips for a while.

  4. The Globe and Mail has an AP wire-service story attacking the Patriot Prayer group, after one of their members was executed by an Antifa member. This after the Globe, like other left-wing media, ignored the months of violence in Portland.

Somebody mentioned Afghanistan and Wuhan Flu recently.
Their population is 38 million – similar to Kanadistan.
They have 1402 deaths – much less than The Great White Lie.
    Is it inaccurate reporting?
A lack of old people or fat bastards?
Hosers like to brag about their health care so we know theirs can’t be even close to equitable.
Maybe Allan S can splain it.

    1. The point of Afghanistan having a low death rate from Wuhan Flu was that people in Afghanistan that have potential comorbidities are already dead.

    1. Where were these people when, several years ago, O’Bummer made his silly suggestion that NASA should be focusing its efforts on capturing an asteroid in a giant net and then towing it back to cislunar space?

        1. He came up with his asteroid idea when he brushed off any efforts to return to the moon with “been there, done that”.

  6. Great Leader Angry Adolf is back from his awesome weekend at Harrington Lake. Today he resumes his election tour by burning jet fuel to Montreal. He will be explaining what a great scientist he is and throwing money around.

    1. Sweden has just over 10 million people.
      5821 deaths.
      Peak is gone.
      But will another emerge?

      1. But will another emerge?

When yet more of our rights and freedoms are about to be taken away, there’s going to be another “surge” in cases. Coincidence?

      2. Sad bunch of people, can’t live because they are terrified of a virus. Just wait until something really serious comes along other than government lies and incompetence. The flu season is a couple of months away, how many will run around with their hair on fire screaming that we are all doomed, doomed I say. There is more than one SARS virus.

        1. Agreed, OWG. One concern I have is the ramped up use of antibacterial hand sanitizer. We’ve observed people slathering it on themselves before entering and while exiting stores.

Prior to Wu Flu, were we not being cautioned about the overuse of antibacterial products leading to the production of strains of multi-antibiotic-resistant bacteria, aka superbugs?

          1. Absolutely O K because we are not real bright. You would think that the problems with antibiotics would be a wake up call. I have posed this question elsewhere and maybe even here. How many people have gone to their doctor and said I feel like crap, headache, fever, weak , blah, blah, blah. The good doctor says, you have a virus and there is nothing we can give you. Bed rest, fluids and some sort of generic fever reducer. We really are a very stupid, well, not me, but many others. There will be no cure for the whu who flu and one would have to be a fool to think there will be. Governments lie and are evil.

        2. Absolutely OWG. Fear has always been the weapon of choice of authoritarians throughout history. Fear of personal violence, fear of being “alone”, fear of unemployment, fear of your neighbour or children “turning you in”, fear of the planet being unlivable in 10 years, and now fear of an invisible, unstoppable enemy that only the medical experts and/or politicians can define and stop… your life is in their hands and you should be forever grateful.

Adults succumbing to and being ruled by fear I can understand because generally speaking people (except for our host and most of the posters here) are terminally stupid. Creating unreasonable fear in children is just evil.

  7. The Liberal Party’s Toronto Star is blaming the police for seven police officers being injured while trying to arrest a black man jumping on cars. Apparently he was reasonably upset when he demanded treatment by black paramedics and was refused. Also in the Star Heather Mallick explains that Americans are retarded and spend most of their time shooting black people. And in Islamic diverse Toronto, a statue of the Virgin Mary outside a church was vandalized. I guess a statue of the Virgin Mary is racist like statues of our first prime minister.

  8. Say It Isn’t So, Joe!

    antifa.com

Trollololo somebody is earning their keep on the Trump team.

  9. Russia! Russia! Big story at CNN this morning is the New York Times story that the Dept. of Justice didn’t investigate Trump’s ties to Russia enough. Russia! Russia! Russia!

    1. Ahhh, the good old days when the Mounties actually cared about spies. Blacklock has an interesting history lesson today on how the RCMP tracked a Canadian MP who was a secret spy and who touted the great life of factory workers in Soviet Russia. In other news, radio host Charles Adler has proclaimed that he is no longer a Conservative. He now calls himself a Liberal. His buddy Warren Kinsella is thrilled.

      1. That’s odd?
Then it appears that Adler was the last to figure it out.
        What stellar journalism.
How long will it take him to find out how far left the liberal party has gone?
I give him about another 5 years.

        1. Charles Adler is like most presstitutes, he can not see the truth when his paycheck depends upon seeing the lie.
When Sun News folded and the management changes at Corus entertainment, he had to disappear to local radio in BC for a while for rehabilitation and the public to forget before he could be allowed back on the national stage.

If I ever hear him tell that story about his poor immigrant parents, babe in swaddling clothes, seeking better life and freedom, blah blah blah, I am going to puke.

          1. Haven’t heard much from Michael Coren lately, doesn’t he have a religion to change?

Perhaps the best example of a presstitute out there, somehow he manages to have his deepest spiritual convictions align perfectly with the editorial policy of whoever is paying him at the moment.

            https://rrj.ca/cloak-and-dagger/
Second paragraph, in a 1994 interview it was stated that a colleague called him a literary prostitute.

    2. The Liberals saw how handy it is for a political party to own the intelligence agencies south of the border and brought in this guy to do the same here, and him sharing Canadian intelligence with China is also no problem for the Liberal Party, saves them the trouble of sending it themselves.

How is this such a small story?

  10. Remember that thing called the Covid Pandemic?

The cure it seems is worse then the problem.

    https://www.revolver.news/2020/08/study-covid-19-lockdowns-deadlier-than-pandemic-itself/

Since the beginning of this so called pandemic, my BS meter has been off the scales. It has become politicized because “orange man bad”.

I still stand by my original post, that this chinese flu pandemic is only slightly worse than any other run of the mill influenza pandemic.
Certainly no justification for the actions that were taken by the governments of the world.

I believe what we are seeing now in Covid policies, is a worldwide concerted effort to provide cover for the decisions made. After the fact mandatory mask wearing is one of those policies, that they can use as an excuse as to why the pandemic was constrained, after the dust settles and the rubes start asking questions why their livelihoods were destroyed.

    1. That’s actually quite creepy that a private company does this when not being required to do so by health authorities. How does this help their business? People scared of Covid have the option to wear a mask and most are not going to coffee shops anyway. And why is this just in Canada?

      1. Starbucks hasn’t exactly made the best decisions in recent years, now has it? Remember its washroom access policy?

    1. Whats His Name the Ontario Liberal Party leader wants teachers to be treated the same as front line workers. They should receive their own shopping hours at grocery stores and other retail outlets, discounts, etc. Remember, they are putting their lives on the line for the kids. Thousands of teachers will die!

      1. I’m with Wally, fire them all. Along with all the so called health experts who used a bogus computer model to shut the damn country down and are still using the same projections to keep keep us shut down. Only Allan could possibly think this is sane and rational. Of course there are millions of other stupid Canadians. I see them wearing masks in their cars driving all by themselves. That level of stupid cannot be quantified.

  11. Is this why she’s now running the country (into the ground)?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycIZvFuL0cs

(“Is she qualified to be finance minister?”

    “Weww, thhe knowth Geowge.”

    “George?”

    “You know….. Geowge…..”

“Ooooohhh, that George. Yeah, that’s good enough for her to take over Bill’s portfolio.”)
