  1. All NBA players are paid well but some are paid exorbitantly, and if they are even mildly responsible with their money will be rich for the rest of their lives.

But the lesser-paid players must be worried. Most likely want to make money, not political statements. They’ve only got a few short years before their careers are over.

Thus I can see a rift performing between those who can afford political grandstanding and those who don’t want to damage their livelihood.

    1. As was pointed out on one of the other threads, about two-thirds of them are broke two years after they stop playing pro ball. That doesn’t imply that they’re “even mildly responsible”.

If there’s one thing the “go woke, go broke” fiascoes have proven it’s that very large, multi-million-dollar companies are not, as the libs would have us believe, in unceasing pursuit of profit at all costs. They can’t be. If they were they’d be avoiding politics like the sales plague that it is, and ejecting anyone from their company spouting social justice faster than a Teutonic Red Bull CEO on, well, Red Bull.

So I don’t have any faith that the journeymen sportsballers are going to say or do anything about this. All of Western society has lost its goddamned mind when it comes to basic enlightened self-interest.

  2. Its a good thing basketball players have their Chinese business interests to pay the bills.

  3. This is a re-post of a different thread but belongs HERE

The Communists (thugs) are all in now, BLM was just an excuse….The NBA, NFL, NHL will boycott the Second Amendment and we will have a Civil war to save the Republic…….Knee capping yourself & your sport is not trivial….. There is no safe harbor from here forward

That’s the way I see it

    1. S s, I believe you are seeing it correctly. I have been saying this for a long time and have been censored both here and elsewhere online. I was correct years ago and still am.

      1. You don’t need BIG GUNs (sports) unless the actual target is radically different….

  4. What? People still play at that silly playground game? And get money for it? Wow. You would think they would play on and hope nobody with any sense would turn onto their scam. But, noooooooo. STFU, kindergarden children.
    I haven’t watched in 20 years anyway.

  5. Did they hire Jerry Falwell Jr’s PR guy or something?

Like most high school students, I guess LeBron couldn’t make up his mind until Peking told him what’s for.

    Pity about the Muslims, though…

  6. They don’t care about black lives!

Foolish pampered millionaires… who do they think they are? Canadian Prime Ministers?

  7. LeBron says that “change” takes action not words. OK … here’s ALL the action needed: “Comply”. Don’t resist. If you feeeeel the police are in the wrong, then go to court. “Comply” is the only action needed.

  8. With only 1.5 million fans watching each game on average, there is very low viewership of the NBA playoffs currently.

I don’t think that doubling down on the politics is going to help these numbers.

    This league is in trouble.

  9. Sometime back in the 70’s the NBA was boring beyond belief. Their network TV games were so lackluster the TV contract was in jeopardy. Suddenly there were several TV barn burners in a row. That’s when I knew the NBA was a hustle.

  10. In other news, 10 more Hong Kong democracy protesters were arrested while trying to flee to Hong Kong. Lebron James was unavailable for comment.

  11. One of the few avenues open to poor black men to achieve an education and wealth is sports, foot ball and basketball are two sports that are dominated by poor black men. Thus how is destroying those two avenues to those already struggling to succeed good for blacks, seems to me the BLM crowd have almost destroyed two of the few paths for riches and success for poor blacks. Maybe that’s the point, pasty white liberals playing at BLM as they destroy what few avenues for success poor black men have.

    1. No matter the definition, these idiots could do some good with all the money and influence they have.
They have jack shit when they don’t play.
      You can’t fix stupid.
Then again, as role models they blow goats because attaining their level success is pretty much impossible for the average kid.

    2. I don’t know about that. In the reddest of red states but just for the immediate future, we had a handsome, articulate young black man working as an assistant electrician on our addition. He was a sweetheart, but really struggled to perform the work correctly. He had been given free training and a guaranteed internship. He told me as an aside that he had just been approved for free Emergency Medical Services training. He wanted to work for the government in order to get pensions, guaranteed raises, etc. Hope he gets the chemistry aspect, because there will be chemistry. There are plenty of young white kids from broken homes that could use this kind of help as well. Suspect they don’t get it.

  12. What’s all this Lebrun crap? Didn’t he get killed in a helicopter crash? Why don’t these guys stay dead.

    1. “What’s up with all this Lebrun crap?” Yuk yuk yuk! Um’, I don’t think it was him, but I don’t care for any of these sports, if they disappeared tomorrow I personally wouldn’t notice or give a rats, but the many will, they are the modern equivalent the Roman gladiator games. They give the great unwashed, or I guess now we are called deplorables, so they ensure the clinging deplorables have their beer and sports to keep them occupied, so we don’t get uppity. Yet now, the elites are funding criminals and thugs to get uppity for them, cuz we got out of line with Trump. From their perspective, we are the big threat to them, and they are trying to regain control.

  13. So, how y’all feel about the NHL and MLB also postponing their games in solidarity with BLM? Must stick in your craw a bit, huh?

    1. So, let’s see, players mostly from other countries, currently playing all of their games in another country, shitting on their fans mostly in the other country in meaningless protest.

Don’t care. Haven’t watched a game in years.

    2. Kay Jay, I watch racing a little, butt even those over paid fools could protest, and I wouldn’t give a shit. I can keep busy with out watching any sports.

    3. Personally, the kneeling is offputting, but I’ll be forced to get through it somehow.

Are you a Daryl Morey or LeBron James guy when it comes to Communist China destroying human rights in Hong Kong?

  14. Speaking of sports teams boycotting their own games, I just realized something about MLB. It’s mostly about the clubs and the players having to work less.
Yesterday they decided to postpone three games. What do they do? They make it up today with double-headers. And since there are no fans to get out and then in the stadium between games, they can play the games with hardly any pause. And they apparently put in a brand new rule that double-headers only go seven innings.
What’s not to like? You effectively get a day off. (Since it’s a double-header, they probably spend much less time warming up.) The home club doesn’t even have to open the stadium on the off day. And you get all your virtue signalling besides. I don’t think this is what Ernie Banks meant when he said let’s play two. But it’s a great idea. Let’s just play double-headers every other day.
They like it so much that six different games have been postponed today. They can’t make it up tomorrow because Fridays usually mean the start of a different series with different opponents. But presumably they’ll make it up the next time the same team visits.
Of course the official MLB web page is full of “social justice” and “racial equality” crap. But I am sure what I said is really why everyone agreed to it, MLB, clubs, players. Yeah, just part of the scam.
P.S. I have to confess, I have trouble letting go of the Dodgers, especially since they are doing so well. The fact that I can see the so-called protests are mostly scam makes them easier to swallow.

    1. P.S. Maybe the woman tennis player who calls herself Osaka just wanted a day of rest.
She played a tough 3 set 30 game match yesterday, winning 7-5 in the third. In the mean time, her semi-final opponent waltzed through with a straight set victory, losing only 4 games.
So now she has reconsidered and will play the rescheduled semi tomorrow after all. What’s not to like? She got her rest and all that virtue signalling too.

  15. Most people watching sports do it to get away from politics and the constant fear mongering of the news. I think some people are going to learn a lesson about crapping on the table where you eat. I used to enjoy watching sports and at this point could not possibly care less if they never played another professional game.

    1. Did that years ago. I have considered going back in a few times over the years. But there is always yet another recent story that tells me I was right then, and right to continue to stay away.

Have even the home improvement channel, and the food shows decided to yell at their audiences yet? Is Mike Holmes refusing to fix the houses of “white supremacists”? Is Holmes on Homes even still around?

    2. Frankly, the more I see or hear about CNN, or Rachel Maddow, Mia Farrow, the more it sounds like Hollywood, New York, sports stadiums, are just the Westboro Baptist church.

      Why pay for that?

Who even watches Clinton Westboro Network anymore?

      Westboro Baptist Sports Network

      Canadian Westboro Broadcorping Castration

      News Westboro Times

      National Westboro League

      Westboro Baptist Baseball

  16. These sports players, are just like the Hollywood crowd, they seem to think their opinion matters.
They have delusions of grandeur, and are so self absorbed and narcissistic because they live in their special bubble. How come playing pretend on TV and movies, and playing literally with sports, gives them a right to dictate to the rest of us. They only think they have that power because the paparattzi and glossy mags fawn over them. Only the vacant empty headed idiots that buy those magazines in the grocery isle, and rabid sports fans idolize them, and they think everyone in the world are drooling over them as well. I’m thinking they are in for a surprise when they mix politics into their “professions” or “careers”. I would bet they will lose half of their fan base over this, and someone else on another post was astute enough to note that most millennial’s DON’T watch or follow sports.

All things considered lately, I think we are in the end days of western civilization, and it’s speeding up as it spirals down to oblivion, similar to the end of the Roman empire. We are now starting to eat our own!
