    1. Kate,

Perhaps I could constructively recommend to ‘center justify’ the “reply” link for your mobile site so left-handed swipers (or right-handed if ‘right justified’) don’t continuously open the “reply” dialog while scrolling through the comments section??? Just a thought. Cheers.

      1. Yes, I do that regularly on my laptop. I just cancel and reopen the comments, carefully.

  1. One of the dogs we had always looked at the ground while head out the window. We figured she was counting the rocks/gravel on the side of the road. Family joke.

    1. In the early 1990’s, I was driving down your typical Saskatchewan back trail, a road allowance with no ditches, just a bladed trail with summerfallow on one side, and a wheat field on the other. My Rat Terrier had his head sticking out the RH window of my pickup when he spotted a whitetail fawn in the summerfallow field. I was travelling at about 50 MPH when he decided to jump out and go after the fawn. I can still see him rolling in the dirt in my rear view mirror. He was covered with dirt, but didn’t suffer any injuries. And thank mother nature that there were no stones in the land, and the farmer for not having barbed wire fences along the road. Trust me, the never tried it again. He died at 14 years of age.

      1. The Shepherd mix my BIL foisted on us did the same thing a few weeks ago. Sam was only driving about 30 MPH, but Pepper saw a woman out for a walk and decided to say “hello”. She went down hard on her side but no injuries.
We have to keep her tethered on our small acreage at all times. If she sees or hears anyone in another yard or taking a walk, she’s off to the races. Enjoyed some excruciating moments chasing her while I was still in PJs and slippers. I hate my BIL.

        1. My canine “stepbrother” is like that. Whenever he stays with me at the house I inherited, and someone’s at the door, he wants to know who it is. Even when someone’s coming through the front gate, he’s ready and waiting to give that person a welcome.

If that person is a stranger, he’ll bark until he’s played with. If it’s someone who played with him in the past, he greets that person like a long lost friend.

I tell people that they jeopardize their lives whenever they come to the house because they’re in serious danger of being licked to death.

        2. Buddy moved to an acreage. Dog from nearby farm kept coming to his house. He goes to talk to the farmer. Farmer says, “that so?”, goes into house comes out with rifle and shoots dog. “No good to me if he wanders.”
Buddy came into work next day a little shook up.

      2. This seems like a good spot for my friend’s anecdote. His family had a black lab, and he really loved the dog. But he said it had to be one of the stupidest dogs that ever lived. They frequently travelled to and from a cabin in the southern Cariboo, about a 300 km trip. And, he said, the dog would begin to bark at every power pole they drove past. At 100 km/hr it would be Woof………. Woof……….. Woof……….. Woof………..
Sometimes the dog was on the driver side; after coming around a corner and entering a lengthy straight section where passing was allowed the dog would notice the dotted lines on the pavement and bark at them! You can imagine what that was like: WoofWoofWoofWoofWoofWoofWoofWoofWoofWoofWoofWoof…

  2. Hey, it is not complicated.
Dogs hang out of car windows to escape the human smell inside the car, and imbibe the smells in the wind, which hopefully carry food smells.
As for dogs nosing about on the land…I had two dogs on 40 acres. They knew whatever occurred on that land based on their noses, from where a coyote had a dump to where a fox den resided.
Then they ate the coyote shite and chased the fox, etc..
    The nose knows.

  3. My golden once saw a rabbit cross our path on a walk. Say 30 feet away.

He yanked on the leash to the spot then he tracked the smell to the right. Said rabbit ran left.

    Dogs.

    1. Dog lover Murrell here. We have a fairly untrained rescue, “Jack”, who pulls on his leash. He is 1/2 spaniel and 1/2 Jack Russell, so has in his breeding going after birds and squirrels. I do the dog walking, so now during the past 2 weeks I have developed tennis elbow in my left arm, from his pulling.

      1. I’ve rarely walked my canine “stepbrother” for much the same reason. The little guy has a fine set of drumsticks on him and he can pull.

Then again, considering how often we play “go und get it”, he doesn’t need the exercise. I’ve seen how he can fetch his toy and keel over from exhaustion from all the running back and forth. He’ll sleep for a few minutes and then he’s back, firing on all cylinders.

      2. Pups are carried around by their necks, their necks are a lot stronger than ours. Use a choker collar to start, when he reaches the end of the leash and starts pulling you, give a sharp tug back. They can handle a lot more steady pressure than we could, but when mama was disciplining them, it was a sharp pull. You’ve got to emulate mama. When you’re taking the dog for the walk. If they get too far ahead, tug. If they get too far behind (stop and sniff the news), tug. When you, the human, decide it’s time for a stop-and-sniff, that’s when they get a break. Dog’s are pack animals. If you’re being pulled, your dog is your boss. If you’re not running after the rabbit, then your dog shouldn’t either (this one will be hard to achieve, good luck!).

When you do a tug, brace yourself because you’ll need to expect the dog’s front feet to leave the ground most times. It should take less than a dozen tugs the first walk to get the point across. If you’re having to do more than that, then the dog is too excited and you should end the walk early. Which is a catch-22 because the dog is less likely to get that excited if they get enough excercise. Do you have an option to tire the dog out with a ball or frisbee before going on the walk?

Even when you’re back to a regular collar they’ll occasionally get too exciting and start to pull you. Use the sharp tugs as a reminder. You’re unlikely to need the choker after a week or so.

We had a lot of trouble with our rescue when we first got her and we almost had to give her up. A relative of my wife is a trainer, and spent a couple of sessions with us, and it made a huge difference.

  4. It’s hard to follow dogs and rabbits but here goes.

Tim Pool has gone very dark about the Bari Weiss letter. Speaking of everyday folks not fighting back; “…I hope it keeps you warm when you get walked down to the Gulag…”

Now back to your puppy programming in progress.

    1. Yeah. Everything in that video is known to longtime SDA readers/commentators.

Save us the holier than thou righteous.

Just a couple dog stories. Our host here is kind of fond of dogs.

    2. alecincgy, those who will not eliminate their enemies will soon be eliminated.

  5. We have four Chihuahuas in addition to the obnoxious Shepherd. The Shepherd is mainly nose with really good vision. She tracks frisbees like there’s no tomorrow.
The Chihuahuas seem to be more about hearing and vision. They sniff around some but see and hear everything. They spot poor neighbor Jim from our dining room in an instant. Hard to get used to, they hear things at night and set up a racket in the early hours that the Sheperd and the prior big dog seldom did. They wake from a dead sleep and set to with the barking. Makes one regret forgetting to take the blood pressure meds.

    1. My “canine stepbrother” (a wild and noisy short-haired miniature dachshund) likes to play “go und get it”, as my father called “fetch”. (“Ja, go und get it.”) When we do it in the back yard at the house I inherited (which was the little guy’s first real home), he may chase after the toy of choice that we’re playing with, but, suddenly, he might spend a lot of time running around. I figure he’s looking over his old stomping grounds, seeing how it’s changed from his previous visit, and finding all sorts of new things to sniff.

After a few minutes of doing that, he goes back to looking for the item in question. (“Wo ist es? Wo ist es? Go on.”) Yup, the critter is bilingual: he understands both German and English.

The thing is, he doesn’t give up. He’ll keep looking until he finds it, though I might encourage him a bit. And, while he’s searching, his tail is wagging like crazy. He really likes playing “go und get it”.

Once he finds it, he quickly dashes back, drops it in front of me, within easy reach, and then barks at it if I don’t pick it up right away. I occasionally admonish him if he doesn’t do it quite right, by pointing to a spot near me or patting the ground with my hand. (“Hier. Come on.”) If I just happen to be picking it up while he’s reminding me to get on with it, he sometimes smacks my hand with his snout if I don’t do it fast enough.

Of course, the whole neighbourhood knows that we’re playing “go und get it”. He does have a reputation for being noisy.

      1. Our girl is getting older, but her Schnauser and Border Collie roots still have her standing on her hind legs, tail trying to helicopter her into the air, when she sees the ball thrower pulled out.

A couple of times when it hits a rock or tree and takes a strange bounce that she doesn’t see, I’ll try to call out directions for her. “no, go left. Not that left, the other left.” She sometimes goes straight for it. But I have to walk over and get it often enough that I know she doesn’t know what my barking means.

        1. My little guy absolutely likes it when his toy starts bouncing in strange directions, particularly when he’s about to close in on it. Eccentric bouncers and rubber balls with legs are an absolute delight to him.

      2. Dogs are remarkably intelligent, even the small ones. The Chihuahuas have world-class manipulation capabilities even while their brains can’t be as large as a walnut. The obnoxious Shepherd and my husband have an ongoing battle of the wits over fetch with balls or frisbees. She grabs all she can reach and drops them at his feet in the house. Outside, she tries to lure Sam away from the front entry to keep him from going back in by dropping the fetch object further and further away. Then Sam will sit down on the steps and look everywhere but at her until she brings the fetch object to him. In reality he had a knee replacement a few months ago and isn’t supposed to be walking on grades or uneven terrain to this degree.

How to End the COVID-19 Epidemic in the US

L- The clinical evidence has long past reached the stage where civil litigation, based on
duty of care/standard of care arguments, will bankrupt medical liability insurance providers and anyone liable to be sued, physicians, provincial medical regulatory bodies/gov’t. medical agencies.

Those blocking/suppressing the use of HCQ protocols by clinicians for treatment and/or prophylaxis against Corvid-19(Chinese Communist Party biological warfare virus #1) are going to squirm under open to public examination for discovery court procedure.

For those at high risk to Corvid-19(for age or co-morbidities or both), your civil litigation lawyer should be made aware of the studies. Preferably, before you come down with symptoms but ASAP if you do and are denied access to said treatment for political/non-medical grounds rather than actual contra-indications!

The pandemic shutdown, the first one, was justified by those ordering it, only as a measure to slow down the spread, until a vaccine was successful(unlikely in the near future), herd immunity took effect, more likely but not there yet, or effective therapeutics were found in clinical trials. Oddly, as medical professionals, they neglected to admit that.

This because the “gold standard” of random/double blind research takes so long, that with a highly infectious virus, as Corvid-19 is. Clinical studies are the only thing that can meet the duty of care/standard of care requirement applicable under the circumstances!

Medicine being a profession, the legal standard of care is high and includes evidence from outside countries is most likely admissible in court. Clinical studies(international) are relevant. This based on memory from lectures I attended on the topic some years, ago.

The regional/area attempts to limit outbreaks would be more effective with prophylaxis as other nations have discovered.

Does clinical success with therapeutics have a greater likelihood of stopping mass infections in an open economy than does making mask wearing mandatory, or in addition to? If so, then clinician/patient relationships come into play. That over-rides the grab for near absolute power over the economic, social and political life of citizens by the state (bureaucrats/politicians).

That would seem to work to jump over the 2nd Amendment…Take the Guns away because BLM & Marxism is the future the Village Idiots demand….20K mentally challenged children can’t ALL be wrong….

      1. I strongly suspect the real drive behind the “second-wave” lockdowns is to make sure the economy remains in the tank until after the election, to weaken Trump’s support.

But then this should come as no surprise – the Democrats have repeatedly shown they could care less about the state of the economy or how many Americans suffer how much – if it helps get rid of Trump, it’s A-OK with them!

“History will prove we were the best thing everyone could hope for – especially if we write the history!”

  8. My son recently got a hound dog pup. He has been working with the dog on training him to take a scent. He says he is amazed at how quickly this young dog can find things that he has set up for the “hunt”.

    1. My husband and I saw the movie Super Power Dogs at the IMAX theatre last year. There’s a great line: “if you could see what I smell.” I imagine it would be sensory overload for mere humans. Dogs are amazing! Love them all.

  10. Blackie’s bought and paid for Globe and Mail editorial board rants this morning, that while Hitler Trump promised more pipelines, Trudeau has delivered more pipelines. Trudeau is wonderful. Praise Great Leader! And Blackie’s bought and paid for CTV News is upset today that a report shows whiny indians will be effected most by automation. We obviously need a ten year, sixty million dollar inquiry into this. Break out the feathers, drums, and chants to the sacred liquor bottle.

  11. Yup, Jerome, my old Greater Glengarry Moosehound, now HE had a nose, I tell ya!

I mind the time he got onto a coon track and took me on a hell of a chase. He tracked that varmint night and day, through swamps and bush and thickets, over hill and dale and through the seasons.

Tracked the bugger right back to the hollow basswood tree he was born in.

Yup, quite a nose on Ol’ Jerome.

“I don’t see the invisible knapsack.”
“It’s there, only I can see it and only I can see what is in it.”
    “I can’t see a knapsack. I don’t own a knapsack.”
    ” Trust me , it’s there. I can also see co2 molecules.”

    1. I woke up this morning after sleeping for several hours. Did I commit a racist act? Do I care?

    2. I think current claims of systemic racism and growing white supremacy are greatly exaggerated. Most whites are very supportive of efforts to stamp out racism. The chart in the article depicts white culture, and It’s true that the culture in the US and Canada came from whites. These have also been very successful cultures, but an effort is currently underway to replace “white” culture, which has been dominant in our countries. Well, what are you going to replace it with? White and Christian culture values things like in tact families, hard work, personal responsibility — check the chart in the first link. I cannot see anything wrong with the values depicted in the chart. The most successful Blacks also support this culture. If you destroy the culture, you will destroy America. It is not necessary to destroy culture to get rid of racism. Destroying white culture is just another tactic coming from those seeking to establish a communist utopia.

This is what the Trump supporter who helped flip PA in 2016 said…. (Don King the Boxing Promoter)

September 21, 2016, King caused controversy when introducing Donald Trump at a campaign event at a black church in Cleveland by using the word “nigga” seemingly by accident. In King’s speech he was giving his thoughts on how black people cannot achieve success in the United States by acting like white people, stating, “If you’re poor, you are a poor negro — I would use the n-word — but if you’re rich, you are a rich negro. If you are intelligent, intellectual, you are intellectual negro. If you are a dancing and sliding and gliding nigga — I mean negro — you are a dancing and sliding and gliding negro”.[38][39][40]

    1. Who represented her? & who was the Federal Judge?..
    2. How did she get to America? Was the UN involved? George Soros?

“”Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., continues to dish out six-figure payments to her husband’s firm, which has now received more than $1 million from her campaign this cycle.
Federal Election Commission records released Tuesday afternoon show that Omar’s campaign funneled $228,384.93 last quarter to the E Street Group, a D.C.-based consulting firm run by the congresswoman’s husband, Tim Mynett. The payments, predominantly for digital and fundraising services, bring the total that Omar’s campaign has sent to Mynett’s firm to just over $1 million for the 2020 cycle.
Omar, a freshmen congresswoman, has faced scrutiny over numerous financial and personal issues since she was elected in 2018. She has drawn criticism for a lack of transparency about her previous marriages, over campaign finance violations, and for a potential violation of House ethics rules pertaining to the advance she received on a recently published memoir. Pressed for answers, she has routinely dismissed the inquiries as “smears” and “conspiracy theories.”
Mynett’s firm is the top vendor for Omar’s campaign, which doled out $521,000 between April 1 and June 30 with Mynett’s share accounting for 44 percent of that total.
The financial relationship between Mynett and Omar began before the two announced they were married this March, but it is unclear how long the two were romantically linked before they tied the knot.””

  17. Erin O’Toole says he will reform the United Nations! Now there’s a vote grabber for you.

    1. I have zero use for Erin O’TOOL. First, because of how he torpedoed Jim Karahalios. Second, because he (sadly) seems to be following in Jason Kenney’s footsteps – pledge slavish allegiance to any sound-bite that might get him votes (until next week at least) while in practice doing absolutely nothing.

“And if you don’t like my principles, Sir – I have others…”

  18. From The Montreal Gazette… and Global National News this evening:

Bloc Québécois Leader Yves-François Blanchet unequivocally denies allegations that he sexually assaulted a woman 20 years ago when he was a Music Promoter.

Blanchet released a statement early Wednesday, hours after the claims surfaced in a Facebook post. The post alleges Blanchet brought a woman into the bathroom of a biker bar, offered her cocaine and groped and kissed her, despite her repeatedly asking him to stop.

She story alledgedly gets raunchier, this is the white washed edition.
Global National’s Mike Armstrong must have made people in Canada choke and or laugh at dinner time tonight.
