Poland Reelects Duda

Washington Post hardest hit;

Poland’s right-wing president, Andrzej Duda, won a second term by a razor-thin margin in results announced Monday, paving the way for Warsaw to continue a political program that human rights advocates and other European leaders have criticized as undermining democracy.

Duda — an ally of President Trump — won 51 percent of the vote in Sunday’s runoff election, the country’s electoral commission said. Centrist Warsaw Mayor Rafal Trzaskowski trailed with 49 percent.

Turnout above 68 percent, the highest in a presidential election in 25 years, showed how deeply Poles cared about what was seen as a pivotal vote.

Analysts said the election presented a choice between two Polands: one that clashes with much of the rest of Europe on fundamental values and another that aligns with the European project.

“one clashes, the other aligns”.

    1. The Campptown ladies sing this song,
      Doo-da, Doo-da
The Camptown racetrack’s five miles long
      Oh, de doo-da day

  1. “Centrist Warsaw Mayor Rafal Trzaskowski trailed with 49 percent.”

I can just imagine how “centrist” this guy is if he “aligns with the European project”.

    1. He’s thoroughly “centrist,” i.e. everything should be decided centrally by a central bureaucracy at the centre of everything with the ordinary citizenry being periodically allowed to vote to go along, as in communist, socialist, and fascist systems.

    2. Well, he is centrist in the same frame of reference where Merkel is center-right.

  2. It’s like, you are sitting there, and all the serial killers, and arsonists, and con men, and professional gangsters, are telling you you are making a mistake, ….

Poland is known by the company it keeps. I would not pay to tourist through France, Germany, none of the progressive rape fest countries. But Poland, goes on the list. Better beer than Germany anyway.

    1. I have a neighbor who is from Poland. He’s a fisherman in Seattle.
He claims it’s a great place to go. I know he goes back and fourth ever other year.

My wife and I are thinking about a visit too.

    2. Visited there as part of a trip through central Europe. Krakow is beautiful as are the reconstructed parts of Warsaw. Beautiful country, great food and beer. Lots of cultural events in Warsaw.

        1. Slovakia is interesting. Used to go there when an offspring was at a uni there in Kosice (English language program) and very much enjoyed my time. Had the opportunity to return a few years ago when offspring’s uni was having a special anniversary and it was great.

    3. “Better beer than Germany anyway.”

Oh yes, Zywiec, Tyskie, Lezajsk, Okocim all good stuff.

  3. It is worrisome that only 30 years after getting out from underneath a cruel commie dictatorship, half the electorate is flirting with socialism again.

    1. Jamie, there really is no cure for stupid. Generational memory is a problem, most humans don’t have it, that is why history repeats its self over and over and over. Your parents are never right.

      1. “Generational memory is a problem, most humans don’t have it”

Yup. And the greatest pieces of shit that ever lived know it and use it. Here’s a quote from Hitler:

“The receptivity of the great masses is very limited, their intelligence is small, but their power for forgetting is enormous.”

        1. Jamie, he knew and I know it, why does no else get it? I like your historical reference.

      2. Put the BLAME on where it RESTS.
PUBLIC SERVICE UNIONS – Teachers union for one.
History as taught today is now fully 100% Revisionist Bullshit with a hefty dose of Woke SJW, Anti White indoctrination. (Socialist Divisive crap)

        1. True. There is no doubt that history, as taught today, contains a a lot of revisionist drivel. But it is a parental duty to (a) be aware of what your kids are being taught, and (b) take steps to correct the bullshit.

A majority of parents fail on both counts.

          1. When the parents of the kids who are in our schools today went through the system it was already staffed by teachers who were believed in socialism.

        2. What would anyone think would happen when governments are put in charge of young childrens minds?

  4. Go Poland! And Hungary! The only 2 European countries I want to visit and feel safe.
If I can get a flight out of Venezuela North ……..

    1. You might also look at Slovakia, between Poland and Hungary. It’s an interesting country.

      1. The eastern Czech Republic as well. I was in the region last year. Much safer than Western Europe, friendly, just be aware of the higher language barrier.

  5. Note that things are always “right wing” or “conservative” or “religious” or “allies of Trump” as though these things are big detriments to successful economies.

The left loves to control the narrative. The truth is that Poles do not see their country economically or socially as a part of the EU and would prefer to keep it that way.

    But, you know, facts …

  6. Now for all those who are really pissed, what the hell will you do about it.? The truth, zip, zero, nada, absolutely nothing.

  7. Don’t forget how Duda won—by exposing the gay agenda for Poland (normalizing abnormal sexuality being a key element of the anti-Christian “European project”), and making sure people who love their children got to the polls.

If President Steve had made a point of purging his party of perverts and making sure every proud parent knew he would protect their children from limp-wristed lisping perverts like Justin Trudeau, he would probably still be prime minister.

If a conservative is serious about taking power and keeping it, he needs to stand up to the queer lobby, and never apologize for doing so—and once in power, expose and expel the queer fifth column in his own ranks.

  8. // another that aligns with the European project //

The near-equal results reflect a polarized Poland:
“Trzaskowski is identified with a cosmopolitan Polish tradition that is liberal, internationalist and pro-European,
whereas Duda represents a Poland that is provincial, conservative and Polonocentric,”
    said Szostkiewicz.
“This is what separates us, it is what has always separated us, and we are all guilty of it.”

Or as the PiS party puts it:
Civic Platform, the party of the opposition presidential candidate,
    “supports Russian and German interests,
    LGBT propaganda
    and paedophilia,
    moral corruption of children and
    destroying families,
    fighting against national tradition”

AAAANND all controlled by George Soros.

    1. PiS puts is accurately, it was them against Soros. Besides, had it not been for artificial delays driven by PO scrambling for a sane candidate, the idiot they were running before Trzaskowski would be lucky to survive to the second round. So PO delayed the election through machinations in the Senate (because Wuhan Flu). Their only objective was to find someone more electable then the bumbling idiot they originally run. And they still lost. FETE.

  9. There must be an old IRISH JOKE we can reformate into Polish Lore….I miss the humor!
