48 Replies to “A Climate Change Survey Goes Horribly Wrong”

    1. I filled it out. I don’t know where Vernon, CA is but i was honest about where i live.

        1. I’m from Calgary. I honestly answered that we spend at least a week’s vacation there a year. And my main comment was along the lines of “stop pretending that the world is broken. It will be here long after your disaster-of-the-month is a faded memory. Stop making people miserable by forcing unneeded hardship on them because of your Gaia centric religion.”

          1. Try “Gaia-centred cult.” It’s too foolish as a belief system to be a religion.

  1. It’s a push survey and can’t be answered without conceding to their goals. It’s what is wrong with local governments today, they’re too busy trying to save the planet and or pretend to run the nation to focus on their mandated responsibilities.

    1. There are plenty of free text spots and you don’t need to click all the points. I got my point across fairly well, the best way to fight climate change is to reduce gov’t and useless bureaucrats. In fact, that is the best way to get rid of most problems in society today.

      1. Frenchie, none of it matters because all dissenting opinion is filed under g.

    2. The survey itself is an indoctrination session. It’s hardly interested in public opinions

    3. THAT WAS FUN!
      CC causes less snow.
Ban fossil fuesl….. even for emergency vehicles.

      1. I went the other route. Stop impoverishing us to we can continue to have 1st world problems. Also, if you lower CO2 levels too much, say goodbye to all the vineyards (you do know that they “eat” CO2, right?)

  2. I’m already a model citizen, according to their preconceived notions. How will they ever meet their goals if there’s no fat left to trim? oh well, hopefully they raise taxes – that’s been helping a lot so far.

    1. I said it was far too hot in Vernon.

I asked them to raise taxes and install more wind and solar.

Also wanted them to take new land for housing and convert existing single family homes to multi-family units.

      🙁

Oh and tourism was the lowest of my priorities.

I should have told them to eliminate dirty methane spewing, fish killing, hydro dams which are situated on stolen land. Maybe next time. 🙁

  3. I declined to finish the survey, because it was dishonest. It often only gave possible answers where I agree to their point of view, or that something needed to be done, when I did NOT agree that anything needed to be done and did not agree to any of their possible or allowed answers. As such, to answer the question honestly was impossible. They were trying to force their ideas on me, not honestly asking for my opinion.

    Choose 1 answer:
    1) Climate change is horrible and we should be willing to destroy our economy to stop it.
    2) Climate change is dire and we should be willing to destroy our economy to stop it.
    3) Climate change is terrible and we should be willing to destroy our economy to stop it.

Answers not allowed to be chosen:
    4) Climate change is not happening and so we should not destroy our economy to stop it.
    5) Climate change is too small to be worth destroying everything to stop it.
    6) Destroying the economy will destroy the ecology as well, and kill millions or billions.
    7) The proposed solutions are worse than what they claim to cure.
    8) The proposed solutions are merely designed to enrich and empower you personally at my expense.
    9) This proposed solution will have the exact opposite effect of what you claim.
    10) That proposed solution has no effect whatsoever.
    11) That other proposed solution is actually not even possible.

  4. You can leave those blank. The fun was to be had in “add your comments”. What can we learn from COVID to apply to climate change? Experts are nearly always wrong, they flip flop without being held accountable and in the main, do more harm than good.

    1. I made a smart arse comment about how the Wuhan Flu had cut down the number of vehicle trips per week, not to mention the number of places I was allowed to visit. Nowhere in the question was a mention of the Chinese Lung AIDS. Lo and behold on the very next page was a question tying Bat Soup Fever to climate change. I congratulated them on not letting a crisis go to waste.

    2. “they flip flop without being held accountable”

One month masks do no good at best and are at worst harmful. Next month you must wear one or go to jail. It’s all about little fascists controlling us and nothing about health.

    3. I commented on the WooFlu question that it shows how many workers aren’t needed in the offices. They should be allowed to work from home. Then, if no-one notices any difference when they’re not in the office, they should be canned.

    4. ” What can we learn from COVID to apply to climate change?”

I learned that riding mass transit(buses) was a really good way to catch COVID-19.
Also, handling recyclables(really other people’s garbage) is another good way to catch COVID-19 through cross contamination.

  5. Isn’t it Vernon BC? CA is Canada isn’t it?

I responded to the question “What has the COVID pandemic taught me about climate change?” with “It made me realize the difference between a real crises, the pandemic, and a fake one, climate change.”.

    1. Saw your comment right after I posted mine. Great minds think alike, eh?
I was surprised they didn’t shoehorn in some damn thing about George Floyd, BLM and Antifa just for good measure.

    2. Abbreviations CA = California CA = Canada

That makes a effing lot of sense – to a Liberal, I guess.

      1. When I used to go to Vernon the indians were the big problem. Early to mid 80’s. After then, fuggeddaboudit. Too many bone heads with BCitis. I bought a hotel share in the Kootenays once and ran it in the summers. BC’s claim to fame is red tape. With an AB plate, it’s twice the price. Try a BC liquor license for fun. I boycott the place now. The twats who run it wanted to tax my vehicle for drilling wells in NE BC, while living in Alberta and registering it in Alberta. Always saw BC plates at COSTCO Grande Prairie and here in Calgary. I guess the exchange rate was favorable, or PST was missing.
It really isn’t any better here in Alberta between game wardens and RCMP snoopers, though. Uniformed Meatheads R Us. They are everywhere. OPP are real azzwholes to out of province drivers, too. It’s “their” Province, see.

        1. I encountered similar idiocies ever since my father died. For example, I now have title of the house but, because I’m not considered a B. C. resident, I have to pay a 50% premium on property tax. Never mind that I’m not a squatter or speculator and that I can’t live in two places at once while I’m settling the estate.

And, no, I can’t register my truck in B. C., either, even though that where I’ve been keeping it as I need use of a motor vehicle to haul stuff. I can, however, keep it in storage and take out a temporary permit to drive it when I’m in town.

There isn’t a situation the government won’t take advantage of to enrich itself.

    1. My responses often included words and terms like “commie pinko,” Marxist nutter,” and “idiotic.”

      1. I used terms such as “reality”, hinting that “climate change” is baloney. I also suggested that waste can be reduced by not buying stuff made in China.

  6. Vernon, where the municipal leaders treat the citizens like sheep, using this stilted survey to try to raise taxes.
It couldn’t be more apparent that is their goal.

    1. I have friends who live in Vernon. I though it might be fun to ask if they had attended a council meeting and watch them start frothing at the mouth. Bad move. They couldn’t stop … frothing furiously… for hours. Ruined my visit.

  7. What I learned from Covid.
That people are sheep and many will believe anything if repeated over and over. Most lack the critical thinking skills to determine if what they see on their TV screens in the 24/7 news cycle is accurate or just hyperbole. Hyperbole used to keep the screens filled and eyeballs glued to their sets. They believe they are just “keeping informed” but in reality they are being entertained when they have too much free time on their hands.

  8. for question 19, “is there anything else that would help?” i put
Don’t over-promote the now fear-based and politicized notion of “Climate Change”. Many recognise that the science of climate change is complex and not settled, CO2 is not a dangerous pollutant, and climate change is natural. Overemphasis of programs based on “CLIMATE CHANGE’ will unfortunately drive some folk away from action because of political disdain. Focus action and promotion instead on the logic of keeping it Clean and Efficient, everone will support that. Work to reduce real pollutants where feasible. Speak to the need to recycle and use our resources in an increasingly efficient and responsible manner while using alternative energy sources where possible BUT in a financially responsible manner. Many cities have wasted tax payer dollars on unsustainable uneconomic “climate” initiatives primarily to virtue signal and vote-buy whilst doing little to nothing to change the climate or clean the environment.

  9. Covid-19 eh…what have I learned.?

    The ChiComs are Evil Incarnate
CDN Politicians have zero clue and will always lean to authoritarian methodology.
70%+ of Canadians are complete effin Morons…mostly those being under the age of 55.

And most of all, it has cemented my desire to see Alberta disengage from this beyond Fkd up country.

    1. Same here. Can’t wait for independence so also looking for santuary nations.

  10. couldn’t resist loaded the survey with bull except for 17 to end. Beat pols into submission with frozen journalists

  11. The Virus miss-steps may/should have revealed the fallacy of Probability Scenarios’ (AKA) “Models of Bull Shit”

The 12 year old Children may be angry/and Scold that the Plastic Purge folded
    1. Plastic Straws were used in Hospitals…Bad Orangeman
    2. Plastic disposable Bags became Standard again….No! don’t burn,….Pay someone to dump in Ocean
    3. The Polar Bear population is increasing.. depends where and the who that… LOOK

That Train has derailed for 99% of those with a brain…..

  12. If dangerous man caused climate change was even a problem and it’s not, what would possess the city of Vernon to think that their tiny numbers would make one bit of difference in the grand scheme of things. The hubris and ignorance of such a sad and pointless exercise in wasted effort is truly astonishing.
Fix the damn potholes and provide the services we all need and use.
The climate is fine; obviously the intellectual landscape is a whole nother story.

  13. Back in the 1970’s it was Global Cool and a New Ice Age those same liberal rags Time and Newsweek was giving it front cover and sront page in their liberal rags

  14. My main point was to keep those Bastards from Alberta out – Far away from Vernon and Britsish Columbria.
    It was fun.
Thanks Kate for the link. Much appreciated.
