Visit The Washington Monument While You Still Can

In the latest move to change place names in light of U.S. racial history, leaders of Orange County’s Democratic Party are pushing to drop film legend John Wayne’s name, statue and other likenesses from the county’s airport because of his racist and bigoted comments.

  1. In keeping with the spirit of hollywood might I suggest a name for the airport.

How about Ron Jeremy Airport or perhaps John Holmes International.

    1. John Holmes International Airport work be perfect. He died of AIDS meaning he was likely a switch hitter.

      1. scar – yeah, you could say he was a switch hitter. He got himself really messed up with cocaine and the hetero porn industry wouldn’t hire him because he was an unreliable mess. Hence, he went to gay porn and ‘discovered’ AIDS soon after.

  2. “This is your co-pilot speaking, we’ll be landing at Harvey Weinstein International in five minutes…..please observe the seat belt signs….except for the young ladies, of course.”

  3. Did Democrats FDR and HST make racist and bigoted comments? If so should their statues be toppled?

    1. Rizwan: It’s all about the Republican Party and the government of the Republic along with the Constitution the DemoRats want to WIPE OUT completely. Making America a Sh*thole Country!

    2. Wasn’t FDR in office when Japanese Americans where sent to the camps?
Ditto that MacKenzie King was PM when they did the same here.

Systemic has as its root system. So if someone is to blame for systemic racism it’s the one in charge that is telling everyone that there is systemic racism.
      For example
If say the prime minister claimed that Canada had systemic racism then he would be the one guilty of it. But it would be hidden so it wouldn’t be like he went around wearing black face or anything.

    1. But he’s a Democrat, so that’s OK. It’s only the hidden racism that is associated with Republicans (by the media) that is the problem, not the blatant racism of the Democrats.

    2. Ward: The DemoRats left wing party are NOT about wiping out their history only the Right and ALL Republicans take over by One World Government Soros and the Elites of Elites. BLM is being funded by Soros and the Elites they have 12 million in the bank right now…more coming. Their goal is to Wipe out the Constitution and the Republic….take over complete.

  6. Eliminating statues, monuments and historical names etc. is simply the elimination of history and context, without which, we exist in a nullity to be filled with Marxist nonsense. That’s the plan and we have been paying the professoriate to nurture it for decades.

    1. Noooooooo! Not statues of Saint Nelson and Saint Oprah!!!! Mind you, I support removing those of Mrs. Cruise II and Chimpanzee Jane.

  7. stupid captcha check moved my comment, leaving this comment out of place.

I’m still waiting for the woke crowd to start demanding the removal of highways and powerlines, on the basis that not all cultures developed internal combustion engines or electrical transmission, therefore use of them is racist.

    1. Wait another 50 years and what it’s constructed will be considered offensive and will have to be torn down. Nah. They’ll finally get it right this time.

    1. Queens is already taken. Of course when I went there I didn’t see any dudes in dresses, but that was a long time ago when we did things differently.

    2. And Duke Energy will have to change its name, too. On two counts, being associated with John Wayne and “duke” being a royal title.

  8. I liked John Wayne and most of his movies but only suck-up politicians would think of naming something after an actor.
Let’s face there are probably only a handful of actors and other Hollywood big wigs who don’t have something sketchy in their background.
Don’t name anything after an actor, politician or athlete.
I loved watching movies, sports and even politics but not one person involved in those endeavours were my heroes. My parents, who served in WW2 were my heroes and I looked up to my six older siblings.

    1. If I remember right (being from Calif) but no longer

John Wayne never wanted his name on that airport. They did it after he passed away.
Libs hate him because of his movie The Green Berets.
Even Mr Sulu hated him, but wanted to work with him.

  9. Joseph – given the attitude of the Japanese government was that anyone of Japanese ancestry would – come the invasion – be expected to rally behind the “Rising Sun” flag, one can see the reasoning behind moving Japanese-Canadians away from a vulnerable coastline. What always stuck in my craw was the confiscation of their assets; that was totally wrong.

We also tend to forget about Japan’s aggressiveness in invading China and Korea in the 1930’s. Wayson Choy’s book “The Jade Peony” brings an interesting perspective to that era. Set in Vancouver in the 1930s – 1940s, it chronicles the lives of a Chinese-Canadian family but also throws light on the Japanese invasion of China and the relationship between the inhabitants of Chinatown and those of Japantown (north of Hastings).

It is easy of us to dismiss the internment as “racist”, but Japan’s own behaviour during the ’30’s towards other countries, as well as it’s insistence that all “Japanese” were subjects of the Emperor and – therefore – expected to join with Japan during an invasion would raise concerns. Indeed, there were stories along the west coast of Japanese fishing boats whose crew were more concerned with sounding the waters than actually fishing. And let us not forget that the Americans and the Canadians acted after Pearl Harbour and the capture of Hong Kong where conquering Japanese forces were brutal. Those Canadians who survived – the “Hong Kong vets” – were finally acknowledged to have been treated abominably and, as a result, had health issues which lead to relatively early deaths.
