    1. Thanks for the link. If you look at the comments in the video, I see Youtube is deleting statements that are not conducive to black lives matter, Antifa, etc. (AKA, the destruction of America.)

    2. President Trump should say this same thing whenever he gets a question about BLM, Riots, Chaz, Crime :

White House Press conference 6/22/2020. MS. MCENANY: Hello, everyone. This past Fathers Day weekend, we saw violence across the country, but we saw scant media coverage of this violence.

Lets be clear here: The states are responsible for policing their streets. The governors, the mayors are responsible for ensuring that our streets are safe, that the American people are protected. And what we have seen is, in far too many Democrat runs states and Democrat run cities, we have seen violence and chaos and nothing like the law and order that we saw here in D.C. when President Trump stepped in and surged the National Guard.

It is the responsibility of governors to protect their states, to police their streets. The police power rests at the state level. And we expect mayors to step up and to do their job, and governors to step up and do their job in the mold of President Trump, who secured DC after a night of lawlessness two weeks ago.

Finally, the Defund Police movement is misguided. It will only hurt the vulnerable citizens of American cities the most. It’s sad, and it is shameful.

    1. That sort of thing was common when it came to hiring for internal positions at Armpit College, where I used to teach. I saw that first hand.

When my original department head retired, his job was divided into two positions: head and assistant head. In both cases, the positions were advertised, but everyone knew the fix was in. Oh, applications were accepted and interviews were conducted, but the ads were worded in such a way that only the candidate who was supposed to get the job in the first place could qualify.

The actual decision would have been made long before, but internal regulations dictated that all the rituals and procedures had to be observed before it became official.

In another case, the position was advertised even though it had been already filled.

    2. If you do any minor digging into this “WE” charity you’ll encounter the creepy Keilburger brothers. They invented this operation as teenagers and operate it with, shall we say, a certain zeal. “WE” is to charity like Scientology is to religion. Not sure whether to call it a pyramid scheme or a cult. Probably both.

  1. I still prefer the older Godzilla played by a man in a rubber suit. Those movies were a hoot!

They perfected the art of product placement. One story I heard was that companies in Japan thought it an honour to have their buildings not only shown in those flicks but to have them wrecked by him.

One part of Japan, though, that was couldn’t be shown to be destroyed was the Imperial Palace.

        1. A great cinematic classic. It baffles me why it was never nominated for an Oscar…..

  2. Who is thinking…just let Biden win so this can all go away? I am almost getting there.

    1. Over, Biden will never be president even if he manages to keep functioning until the election. Whoever will be VP will be the president if the dems win.

  3. Move over, Ponzi; forget Bernie Madoff; ignore Enron; and dismiss collateralised debt obligations associated with subprime mortgages. Without a doubt, the biggest scam perpetrated against taxpayers and consumers is renewable energy.

    http://wind3.herokuapp.com/posts/47311-taxpayer-support-for-renewable-energy-simply-cannot-be-justified#.Xvas3ihKiUk

A three year old but timely article from Australian economist and author at the Australian, Judith Sloan.

    1. Solar and wind are not “renewable” energy simply because solar panels and windmills have a limit on usable life.
Despite the massive use of concrete and steel, the most critical part of the windmill is the motor. The motor, as with all mechanical movable parts, has a limit on usable life. The irony is, you’d think if they really design for long usage, the motor assembly would be standardized. Well, it ain’t. Once the motor goes, the whole windmill becomes a piece of junk. It is no more “renewable” than an oil derrick is renewable as long as it pumps out oil. In fact, the oil derrick turns out to be much more renewable, but that’s another story.
The best place for “solar farms” are the desert, with plenty of sun and few people. Unfortunately, also plenty of wind, sand, and weed, all of which are detrimental to the solar panels, and tend to shorten their already limited usable life. At the minimum, the solar panels need constant care to make sure the surfaces are clean and deliver anything close to the theoretical power.
This is not to mention that both solar panels and windmills require a lot of environmental damage for manufacturing. You have to factor those into the equation for net energy delivered in the thirty year or less lifespan of them.
And also not to mention there is no hope of solar farms and windmills ever delivering more than, say, five percent of current energy requirements.
Now this is not to say they are completely useless. Under certain restricted conditions and limited usage, they can be beneficial. My sister and brother-in-law have a 14 acre property in the North Bay of the San Francisco area. They have already solar powered heating for their pool. The property sits astride a ridge that runs north-south, and there is always a considerable ocean breeze. I believe he can profitably install a specially designed windmill with not so tall a tower (as it sits on top of the ridge) and get enough electricity almost continuously to be self sufficient and get off the grid. But this is a very special case, and not everyone has a property that includes a ridge with constant wind.

      1. Lets not forget that to be “self sufficient” in energy while your home still runs on 110 VAC..?? You’re looking at a minimum investment of $40,000.

4-5kw in Panels, Wind turbines that typically need a collapsable 100′ Tower 15-20′ turbine with furling ability in high winds, Wiring, Inverter(s), Generator (yea, ya need one), 15-20k in Batteries (Deep Cycle 1-2V Surretes), large Water tank to take Excess energy when your batts are full and the Wind in blowing…. it ain’t cheap and for most simply not worth the effort nor the 25-30 year time frame to pay it all back….and in that time, you’ll need to replace your Batteries at least twice if not more.

Only for filthy rich unabashed Virtue Signaller.

        1. with lots of ground around them for the wind turbines, house rebuild for the batteries (note – they can NEVER be allowed to freeze, depending on type). The barrel of either gasoline or diesel will need to be somewhere accessible (let’s face it, the types to install this type of system won’t be out hand-bombing barrels around the house and up the 2×6 into the back of the pickup truck.).

          1. Hell, for all that work and cost, why not just go full Monte….nuclear. A little Slowpoke goes a long way and you can stand over the thing in the swimming pool and watch it “go”….silently. Spin off some nuclear “work” and it pays for itself. Use the wind for sailing.

    2. Albertans have spent billions on solar and wind power that produce at a tiny fraction of capacity for outrageous cost with a limited lifespan. I simply don’t understand why they don’t spend the billions on hydro dams with predictable production and long lives. Bonus could be billions saved over time by limiting flood damage. Apparently everyone’s gone stupid. Alberta has used but a few percent of hydro capacity. The Peace River capacity could run everything north of Edmonton including the oil sands. And BC has already regulated the flow to be 100% reliable.

      1. To put the Green Folly in perspective, right now, Alberta has the capacity for 1781 MW in wind power. Alberta wind power is producing 167 MW right now. About 10% of advertised. The link below is a good tool against the green mafia. It updates about every 3 or 4 minutes.

        http://ets.aeso.ca/ets_web/ip/Market/Reports/CSDReportServlet

So what industries would have to be told that they can’t operate today. Which households would get power. Don’t count on the super batteries like Elon Musk sold to Australia for many millions. It held the grid up for 30000 homes for very short periods. It is only there to hold the grid till coal plants fire up.

        1. Now down to 96 MW.

Alberta which is likely the windiest province, would be screwed without coal and natural gas power.

          1. There are a thousand years of coal reserves in Alberta alone. Clean coal worked, ask the folks in Hanna Alberta about that.

      2. The industrial wind – solar industry is a massive LIBERAL SCAM to not only destroy efficient fossil fuel sources of CHEAP RELIABLE ENERGY – that which our Western Civilization is predicated upon, but to impoverish Canadians Coast to Coast. ALL part n parcel of the IPCC’s stated Goal – to utterly destroy “the economic model of the past 150 years” (Christina Figueres)

GERALD BUTTS of the Rockefeller led NAZI foundation aka, the WWF – your lead instigator.

Useless – Unreliable energy sources that requires Very Expensive Natural Gas Back up plants. And when said renewable energy is not required, it’s sold for pennies on the Dollar… ALL Subsidized by the End user – You n Me in the form of higher prices per kw/hr.

And there is not ONE Fkn Politician in this Country that Is AGAINST this….NOT One.

        https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4505850/
        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55-jBCjtJ88&t=133s

        DOWNWIND.

        1. One of the problems with renewable energy is how it’s been implemented. Simply plunking a wind turbine generator or a photovoltaic array in place somewhere is not a solution. As someone who’s done research in that field, a lot of those installations don’t make sense to me.

Renewable energy won’t be a suitable substitute for the system we have now until there’s a major breakthrough in battery technology. For example, the old stand-by, the lead-acid battery, though reliable, is constrained by its charge rate as the electrolyte can break down, leading to the formation of hydrogen.

I’m sure that a solution exists, but it won’t be found so long as renewable energy is treated as a fringe technology and research funding remains hard to come by. Also, what money that is available is tinged by ideology and politics (thanks a lot for nothing, Dr. Fruit Fly).

And, no, making renewable energy systems economical is not a trivial problem.

    1. Wrong on so many counts. Cops here acted like straight up thugs and then other cops covered for them and tried to bury the case under a mountain of bullshit charges (all dropped). In the meantime they have permanently disfigured and blinded that kid. Just for fun, just because they could. Just because they knew they would get away with it. Both cops that did the beating were guilty as sin (they were not even on duty or in their jurisdiction) and then other local cops who knew their father (also a cop) cooperated in the cover up.

And then a lobotomized jury gave the worthless thugs a slap on the wrist.

Race of course wasn’t a factor. Just a usual cop thuggery.

    1. The appropriate response would be to ban the RCMP from being a provincial police force in Western Canada and the Maritimes.

The RCMP, once a respected Canadian institution that was politically independent, as the Commissioner formerly reported to Parliament, not to the government of the day. The RCMP in the past did not act subserviently as the equivalent of a deputy minister, which is the case today.

Veterans seeing videos of the current Commissioner acting more like a poodle on bended knee attempting to find systemic racism, cringe in horror at current state of affairs. The scarlet tunic was a symbol of British Liberty, Common-Law Rights of life, liberty and property and Parliamentary democracy being protected from enemies foreign and domestic.

Now the Trudeau Liberals, following a Party path, are trying to have that scarlet turned into a version of Mao’s Red Guard. “Power comes out of the barrel of a gun”-Chairman Mao . This being the reason for directing them in the latest and most blatant role in civilian disarmament.

Statues of MacDonald and Laurier can be seen weeping, which is why the Marxists mobs want to remove them from public view.

    1. rd, I wonder how cities and states, some of which are almost bankrupt, will be able to pay those pensions while watching Antifa and b l m trash their economies along with virus lockdowns and other foolish insanity.

      1. The euphemism used by economists is “expanding the Fed’s balance sheet.” “Money” is pulled out of thin air by the Central Bank (Fed, ECB, Bank of Canada, Bank of England, etc). Bonds are issued by the city/municipality/county/state/province. Said bonds are “purchased” by the Central Bank, using their invented “money.” Everyone is happy. Consequences be damned, or ignored. Rinse and repeat. You can look-up “Modern Monetary Theory” for the official description. This madness has worked, is working, and will continue to work, until it stops working. The crash is coming eventually, in twenty weeks or twenty years.

The province of Newfoundland has been operating on invented Bank of Canada money for the past seven months, since no one else is buying its bonds.

        1. None of what has been happening economically is good or sound. The destruction of jobs and businesses, the depreciation of the currencies purchasing power, “extreme” government debt is going to take the world down not just Canada. Just about every nation on earth is functioning on a deficit/debt basis, it cannot continue without a reset somewhere along the way.

        2. Nothing seems to make sense anymore.
Besides food, potash, wood products and shitty TV programs what else do we make besides debt? Our trade with the Chicoms is a 40 billion negative every year. Our huge immigrant population sends 30 billion a year back to the motherland. The only people who have any fiscal stability are over 50 years old.
Its Fantasy Island but da plane boss, she’s going down.

          1. My financial stability has been undermined by successive governments spending that which they do not own. I said this in the past on this site. My investments were geared to last me until death, a close proximation anyway. I built in inflation at about 5% per annum and yet the government managed to beat my estimates all to hell. 8 to10% annually in inflation that has been disguised by fraudulent accounting procedures. I would be in jail were I fudging my investments as the government has been fudging the spending and currency inflation.

  4. And now here is the CBC this morning. Trump is Hitler stories, lots of Canadians are racist bastards stories, CBC continues to trash their own Wendy Mesley, and Jason Kenney is Hitler because his speechwriter is Hitler. Oh and the CBC celebrates World Pervert Day.

    1. “”Aach, it’ll be fine””

The Drinker really is great. He goes on a bit sometimes but it’s because he takes movies seriously. I don’t but he is bloody funny.

I haven’t read any of his books (his day job). I like military thrillers but I find a lot of them pretty cookie cutter and formulaic (not to say his are..)

      1. Scar – where will be build said dams? We don’t have the necessary topography.

  5. Conrad Black in probably his last story at the newly “woke” National Post writes on how he has been blacklisted by various media outlets because he doesn’t believe Canada is racist. This includes being banned from the John Oakley show, and born again commie Charles Adler is one of the ringleaders behind the campaign.

    1. From Conrad Black :

“I don’t intend to make light of the real problems. But our official obsession with this issue is an absurd displacement for other concerns. Of course racism exists and must be extirpated. But this is not a racist country; it is a good country compared to the 197 others. Let’s all do better but writing as someone who has suffered minor collateral damage from the current uproar, let us banish the illusion that to recognize the merit of Canada is an act that gives rightful offence to anyone, especially not ourselves.”

      https://nationalpost.com/opinion/conrad-black-much-to-love-about-canada-despite-any-imperfections/wcm/5cd2dabf-7093-4979-a00d-d94788a739d9/

    2. I don’t think Conrad Black is in any danger of being cancelled by the NP, nor is Rex Murphy. That’s just a bridge too far.

I walked into the trap shack one evening this week and to my surprise adler was on the box talking to some guy named jizbo(?) a Chorus Edmonton loudmouth. I got into it with adler a year or so ago. The guy seemed to have taken leave of his senses and I added his name to my enemies list and never listened to him again – until this week. Even his guest was reticent to take the adler angle and skated around not wishing to get caught in the hyperbole.

You’d think that adler given his background would know better than to fall for this whole woke schtick. He’s an embarrassment to himself. He’s set himself up for a fall.

  6. Rex Murphy has a new story at the “woke” National Post. He definitely will get banned for this one.

    1. An excerpt…from Rex’s article.

“CBC is a closed shop to a variety of viewpoints, unconscious of its suffocating assertion of superior judgment, and not overloaded with understanding of the whole country it is mandated to support.

I could go on, but a sharp eye from a fraught editor suggests otherwise.”

      https://nationalpost.com/opinion/rex-murphy-these-are-strange-and-disturbing-times/wcm/83ef025c-5009-4e59-9817-bb21e0d8fe00/

      OJ
      They’re too ‘woke’ ….. it’s been nice, but, …. I quit!!

    2. Well, he won’t be alone.
For two weeks now: Been Banned from commenting at the Nat Post…and strangely enough, from the CBC at the exact same time.
Not for crude language…but for wrong think.

Something about me saying that the shoot down by Iran (1 Missile a mistake – 2 missles..? Redundancy), was on PURPOSE and should be considered “State Sponsered Terrorism” Which it definitely was.

      Imagine that eh.??
NAZI bastards – the lot. Led by none other than G Butts himself. GARANTEED.

  7. “Wrong on so many counts. Cops here acted like straight up thugs and then other cops covered for them and tried to bury the case under a mountain of bullshit charges (all dropped). In the meantime they have permanently disfigured and blinded that kid. Just for fun, just because they could. Just because they knew they would get away with it. Both cops that did the beating were guilty as sin (they were not even on duty or in their jurisdiction) and then other local cops who knew their father (also a cop) cooperated in the cover up.”
Whenever someone destroys any property that i worked my ass off the buy (i.e. keying my car) I hope to hell they get what the’ve got coming to them.I saw someone killed by a train and that is my wish for them,.
A few years ago my daughter called me crying that someone had stolen her car with all her riding equipment inside(she is a equestrian trainer). She doesn’t make a lot of money and worked her ass off to buy that equipment and car and some low life son of a bitch stole it. Death is too good for those bastards. At least this kid gets to spend the rest of his life saying” i guess that was a stupid move on my part”.
“IF” this kid was guilty(and I assume he was) he got what was coming to him.
You probably think its ok to tear down statues or loot stores as well.

    1. ht: You are not alone in your thoughts. Many people would agree with you and are remaining VERY closed mouthed about similar situations. I have heard much quiet discussion concerning the “disappearance” of these feral little animals wth an I.Q. of 80. Gather your friends around you, stay quiet, make plans, become armed, stay quiet.

  8. Nancy:

I watched the two movies you mentioned last night:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppcpY9ExtbY
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kz2D1rNaw5Q

The first one was good until the last few minutes when it trotted out a rather hokey ending.

The second one is “OK, I’ve seen it.” Fortunately, James Mason went on to make much better stuff.

Tonight’s offering on TCM’s Noir Alley is Lady from Shanghai with Orson Welles and Rita Hayworth.

    1. While we’re at it, most of Friday’s lineup will be devoted to westerns directed by the great John Ford and, yes, lots of them will feature John Wayne (e. g., Fort Apache and She Wore A Yellow Ribbon).

In the evening, they’ll be presenting probably the Duke’s best movie and the one he should have received an Oscar for: The Searchers (which also has a young Natalie Wood and a future starship captain–I’ll let you figure out who that was). After that will be the movie that made John Wayne a household name and showed that westerns were actually great stories, Stagecoach.

    2. I watched the two movies you mentioned last night:

My command of English today leaves a bit to be desired. This is better and more accurate:

“Last night, I watched the two movies you mentioned during the past few days”

      1. Nothing wrong with what I call clumsy sentences. I write them all the time.

        1. I wrote lots of them 20 years ago when I was finishing my Ph. D. thesis. (I’ve got too much self-respect to call them gibberish.) Somehow, I still managed to pass my defence…..

          1. I always liked the Churchill quote
“That is a situation up with which I shall not put”
Movie Pick 1939 And They Shall Have Music Walter Brennan and classical violinist Jascha Heifetz is featured. It has been on TCM.

      2. B A —

Didn’t mean to disappoint– I read about that strange ending only after I posted the link. It’s been so crazy busy for me here that I hadn’t had a chance to view the flick myself.

Hope the following will make up for it. Though, this time, I’ll admit I haven’t seen these either….
If these are bad, just shoot me!

“Quicksand”  (1950) Crime Drama, Film-Noir Mickey Rooney, Peter Lorre
        https://youtu.be/UepbwNjmSJY

“The Great Flamarion” (1945) Drama, Mystery, Film-Noir Dan Duryea, Stroheim/Wilder
        https://youtu.be/gZfNoNzLBIo

Thanks for the tip about the great Westerns. I will watch them, they are so timeless.

I’ve never seen tonight’s offer — I will tune in… Orson and Rita were married in real life, I think.

Ich zwinkere dir zu und lächle!

        1. Thanks for the tips. I can’t comment on them as I don’t think I’ve ever seen either of them before. There seem to be a lot of film noir gems on YouTube, so there’s lots to watch.

As for the horse operas, I’ve come to appreciate the movies by John Ford thanks to TCM. They’re a bit clunky in places, particularly when he sneaks in bits of comic relief. Still, he knew how to tell a good story.

I heard that Orson Welles was once asked who his 3 favourite American movie directors were and he answered, “John Ford. John Ford. John Ford.” Even Sergio Leone was influenced by him as part of Once Upon A Time In The West (a pretty decent movie on its own) was filmed in Monument Valley, a favourite site for Ford.

Apparently The Searchers was John Wayne’s favourite movie and he liked it so much that he named one of his sons after the character he played in it.

Ich zwinkere dir zu und lächle!

          Bitte schön.

  9. And now your Canadians are racist bastards story for today. The Liberal Party’s Toronto Star explains why white Canadians need to pay reparations to blacks.

    1. None of my ancestors lived in Canada when there was slavery. I guess I get a free pass. Two of my ancestors were killed in their home in the 1600s in an Indian war in Massachusetts. I am still waiting for those reparations.

    2. Really these ànti-racist`racists are so demeaning and insulting to the `racialized groups`(whatever that is).

It`s as if they are saying white foilks should be washing your feet because you are not capable because of racial disadvantage.

  10. Post Millennial reports that the newspaper in Halifax has published a trigger warning that the Canadian flag in the paper for Canada Day may upset some people.

    1. If the flag offends people and the cowards in power concede then I guess we’ll have to switch to a flag with all the colours of the rainbow and more!
We would make sure brown and red are central, sort of like a dirty, sore arsehole.
Maybe we could change the post nation’s name as well.
      Gaylandia.
PM Weirdo II could become The Supreme Monarch and we could feed the already bloated cult of personality surrounding his lordship and family so that it rivals the Korea of the north.

    2. Some extreme assholes say the Red Ensign is racist. No shortage of morons in the world.

  11. Post Millennial reports that the CBC’s Rosemary Barton was excited on twitter, that a poll shows Blackie is in majority territory.
