  1. Technically, it’s Eric Church, as opposed to Erick Church (introduced at a George Strait concert, one time).

    Overall, we believe, in my estimation, in:

    – Democracy;
    – Human rights;
    – Capitalism;
    – Property rights (slavery has been banned in the British Empire since at least 1833, but probably since June 15, 1215);

    and, of course,

    – the rule of law.

    Sucks to be us, I guess (not).

    1. So to paraphrase, damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t.

      Given the first rule of politics is; “don’t make a decision until you absolutely have to” he will have to leave this one to the courts. With Trump’s re-election looming he will probably just take another vacation.

      Seems a terrible predicament with two Canadians held hostage. I really feel for those famalies, suffering at the hands of tyrants and our own incompetent, weak, leadership.

        1. Oh, I totally agree with you! I will NEVER visit Cuba, Venezuela, China, Viet Nam, the middle East (maybe Israel) because they are NOT safe.
          My sister and I did spend a day in St. Petersburg, but it was a supervised excursion from our cruise ship. We both noticed that the Russians seemed to be more capitalistic than Canadians.

        2. Ditto. There was a story some time back, when they were first apprehended, stating they had deep Liberal connections.
          So, while it might be “unjust”, they willingly went to an oppressive country with a totalitarian regime, and are now incarcerated.
          Just because it looks like a modern country, doesn’t mean it’s not East Germany or any other Iron Curtain occupied territory with a secret police.
          Our country has far more to lose if Trudope let’s Meng go, the US will punish this country, as will the other 5 eyes members that have banned Huawei, though the punishment will likely be a stern press release from the Euroweinies.
          TruDOPE and his corrupt LIEberals are beholden to their Chinese masters!

    2. The government always could, that’s not the problem. The problem is what comes after.
      The chicoms never deal on good faith.
      I have no doubt that the minute Meng touched down in China, the chicoms would issue a stern rebuke to the sock monkey for taking so long and then still proceeding with the trial against the two.
      We would abrogate an extradition treaty that has been in effect far longer than Trump has been president, and that would validate Trump’s statements about Justin being weak and untrustworthy.
      This is one of those decisions that has an obvious choice for a Canadian prime minister but a decision that a liberal hates doing.
      Put her on the next plane to the US and tell the chicoms that we know they never intend to release the two detainees even if Meng got back to China.
      But that takes balls, and not being in thrall of liberal orthodoxy.

  2. I think someone here picked up on that a day or so ago. An interesting development.

  3. Bought some face masks through Amazon assuming they were Canadian made by a Quebec company, turns out the company had them made in freaking China.

    1. My local Walmart has a large supply of face masks, three different brands, ALL made in China. Shelves are full, too. No thanks.

  4. Media reports that many Canadian Legions will not reopen. Legions are not eligible for any federal money in regard to the China virus. Vets, always asking for to much. Besides it would take money away from feminist Trudeau’s new funding for gender equity projects and abortion clinics in Africa.

  5. It ain’t Country, man.
    Well, I guess it’s the new country, which all sounds the same. The players are very talented, singers are generally good and always photogenic, the songwriting is shit.

  6. A look @ one Democrat slease monger:

    The Democrat Senator is an admitted liar engaging in “Stolen Valor”….He was a Conn AG Prosecutor…
    Blumenthal is on the Senate Judicial Committee…Wow! the bottom layer of the Swamp…

    Military service[edit]
    Blumenthal received five draft deferments during the Vietnam War,[14] obtaining first educational deferments, and then deferments based on his occupation.[15] With part-time service in the reserves or National Guard generally regarded as an alternative for those wishing to avoid serving in Vietnam,[16] in April 1970 Blumenthal enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserve.[17] He served in units in Washington, D.C., and Connecticut from 1970 to 1976,[18][19] attaining the rank of sergeant.[20]

    During his 2010 Senate campaign, news report videos that showed Blumenthal claim that he’d served “in Vietnam” created a controversy.[21][22] Blumenthal denied having intentionally misled voters, but acknowledged having occasionally “misspoken” about his service record.[23] He later apologized to voters for remarks about his military service which he said had not been “clear or precise”.[24]

  7. Oh Libranos, wherefore art thou?

    Canada’s bilateral trade with China is $100 Billion.

    5 billion reasons Libranos love China.

    “Guo has previously stated that China has drafted a complete strategy for world domination known by the initials “BGY,” which stands for Blue (control the Internet), Gold (buy influence with money), and Yellow (seduce key people with sex).

    Since 2014, the CCP has formulated internal policies to invest a certain percentage of trade with foreign countries in the BGY program to erode the local state system, Guo said Saturday, and the current BGY quota for the United States is 5%.”

  8. The Liberal Party’s bought and paid for media continue to push for the Huawei executive’s release. Is the fix in, and Great Leader is having his media prepare Canadians??

  9. Margaret Wente resigned yesterday, June 22, from Massey College after having been elected to the Quadrangle Society on June 17. Over 3100 members of the University of Toronto Community (students, faculty, alumni, donors) signed a petition against her election. It beggars belief that no one on the committee that put forward her nomination at Massey College knew of her repeated instances of plagiarism.

    1. Plagiarism was always a harsh description of Wente’s use of similar phraseology in something she wrote. You can bet it was her views on gender and her raising questions about race that forced her to resign. It was the same sort of leftist pile on we are seeing everywhere.

      1. Agree completely with your conclusion. Whatever the issue, Wente went against the politically-correct tide. That is what did her in.

  10. Did the ChinXis target Kovrig and Spavor because they are close to the Librano’s? Look who the Globe and Mail says is intervening for the Kovrig:

    “Mr. Rock, Ms. Arbour and Vina Nadjibulla sought a legal opinion from Brian Greenspan, a Toronto lawyer with decades of experience in extradition cases, on Mr. Lametti’s authority to withdraw the case. Ms. Nadjibulla is the spouse of Michael Kovrig, one of two Canadians (the other is Michael Spavor) who have been incarcerated for 561 days in China in apparent reprisal for Canada’s arrest of Ms. Meng on Dec. 1, 2018, after the United States requested her extradition on fraud charges related to U.S. sanctions against Iran. Ms. Meng is the chief financial officer of Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd.”
