    1. There is not a shred of evidence that suggests photo radar lowers collision rates. Nothing.

      It’s a tax grab. Has zero to do with safety.

      1. It’s a kind of consumption tax, a speed tax. I pay it far too frequently (notably when I visit Edmonton).

      2. If you don’t like the speed limit where it is, then lobby your MP to have it changed.

        If you don’t think there should be speed limits at all, then lobby for that.

        But to believe that speed limits should exist but the police shouldn’t enforce them is silly.

        1. They are going with the no discretion policy like Saskatoon. I’ll catch myself speeding in other cities but I never do that in Saskatoon. If the sign says 50km I set the cruise right there; too many times in the past that letter would come in the mail with the perfectly framed picture of our car and the ticket. Fighting it is pointless; I’ve tried.

          1. Is the photo of the front of your vehicle as it approaches of the back as you are moving away? Years ago in Quebec, I think it was Laval, the court tossed out the tickets because they were of the back of the car. The argument then, was just how fast was the car going when the photo was taken, if the radar was clocking the car from the front as it approached. The speed after that could have been anything.

          2. In Sask & Alberta we only have rear licence plates so always rear view.
            I think Robert of O. has it. Photo radar has become a toll or tax levied against those who drive a car, the same as Trudeau’s carbon tax. A string of cars all flowing at the same safe manageable speed is not considered.

          a) The polic aren’t enforcing it
          b) It’s a toll as speed limits are too low
          c) What other “crimes” are going to be enforced by robots? Jaywalking, any other arbitary law.

          1. A local road was widened from 3 to 4 lanes and the speed reduced from 70 km to 60km. There are no crossroads on this stretch and it’s built for 100 km. That happened just as they introduced photo radar.

  10. Today Great Leader Kim Sung Trudeau heads to Quebec for a photo op. He will be at a business to show his loyal, drooling media what a great job he is doing. Then back to Ottawa for some private meetings with Gerald Butts, before heading for his Harrington Lake resort for the weekend.

    1. Since he’s still in his xth day of a 2-week “quarantine”, it occurred to me that the days he was referring to might not be terrestrial. If he was thinking in terms of lunar time, this idiocy will continue for another 13 months. On the other hand, if he’s using the planet Venus as a reference (243 day rotation period), we’ve only just started.

      Either way would suit him.

    What is wrong with that Statement? Canadians all think that they MUST follow a Procedure….That is not what a real leader does… Leaders MAKE procedures & clear departures from failing past Procedures… The Procedures are the problem that MAY create Systemic problems… Systemic is a TOP down policy failure…..

    When the head of the RCMP says that systematic racism exists, that person is incompetent because it is them that has failed to make the changes…A sled dog follows the same old procedures….

  18. So I don’t know if this was originally reported but this morning I heard on the radio that Chantel Moore the woman shot by police in New Brunswick was brandishing a knife. I wonder why they would leave that out of all the stories about it I heard previously? Seems like a pretty important detail if you ask me.

    1. What about all of us who used to love Canada, but now we don’t. The Liberals have ruined Canada. I also do not think a decision regarding separatism should be based on emotions. If Confederation does not work for Albertans and the West, they need to move on. It’s not about loving Canada. You can still love your heritage, but a new system of governance is needed moving forward.

    1. Barbara Perry is the prof no one has ever heard of who does all the Canadian Research on right wing extremism. Media laps it up. I believe most of her reports exaggerate the real picture. She seems to have made a profession of this. Canadians are easily manipulated.

  34. The Post Millennial is reporting, as breaking news, that “Juneteenth” demonstrators spray painted the downtown police station saying “defund the police”. These same demonstrators shut down some downtown traffic.

    This morning CBC News and the Globe and Mail filled their respective web pages with stories supporting juneteenth day.
