The church is deliberately silent about the misdeeds of the left. Four decades ago, I sat through numerous Sunday sermons in which the policies of the U. S. were openly criticized and condemned. A bit of scripture, taken out of context, of course, was conveniently used to support the arguments.
America was portrayed as the source of all evil, the Great Satan, but not one word that the turmoil in South Africa and Central America was supported by Moscow. As well, the invasion and occupation of Afghanistan by the Red Army was completely ignored and there was no mention whatsoever of the Solidarity movement in Poland.
I’m sure the clergy from those days, or its successors, will similarly whitewash the PRC’s actions.

Like seriously. An old friend of mine was scared to chat with me. My son works in a grocery store. He is in contact with…..800-1000? People a day. I’m a technician that visits 6-8 sites a day. I hope we can move forward from this virus. Not new normal but a functioning society. Me hopes anyway.
Jeff, if this virus was not hyped to the hilt as it were, we would not even been hearing about it. So far the facts Jeff, not speculation, not computer models, not cases or potential cases, nor personal “tragedy” stories, this thing would be a yawn and no more significant than the seasonal flu. Absolutely correct OWG. I first learned of pandemics and virus spreads in university circa 1972, course called Social Biology. This virus is doing exactly as mother nature intended, culling the old and infirm as a population control measure. Hard to say out loud but true. Same can be said of cancer, although not contagious. We learned that in the case of pandemics it is most important to contain first, so close borders immediately. Political correctness has destroyed this wisdom as with so much other science which makes the progressive left feel bad. We learned the fatality rates long ago but the powers that be decided to focus on cases instead as it more suited their agenda, which was providing the opportunity for the libtards to seize the economy and indebt us for a long time to come by buying votes. This virus proved to be not terribly fatal for certain cohorts a long time ago so the biggest risk was getting unpleasantly ill. Jesus, my father went to war a long way away to try and ensure his children had a stable and better future yet we have convinced ourselves getting horribly ill for a few days is worth risking their future by destroying the economy? Damage is already being done, our neighbourhood coffee shop was given approval to reopen on a limited basis be couldn’t because his young staff felt a small pay cut from the “free” money was worth having the summer off. I am in the 2nd highest risk group but I am quite capable of self quarantine, it is on me to protect others, not vice versa. All of the efforts should have been directed at finding ways to lockdown seniors without locking them up completely. I fear a long period of economic dire straights thanks to our wonderful progressive leaders, the money is spent no going back.

Hun Sen, the post KR recovery leader had, at one time been a member of the KR. He also came from a place called Kompong Cham (Town of the Cham).
The “Cham” are an interesting ethno-religious sub-group, originally from the central Vietnamese coast. If you get of the beaten track in those parts, you can still find the abandoned ruins of the early Cham civilization there.
The Cham people are more Indo-Malay in origin and practised their own tropical form of Islam. A form that would get them instantly slaughtered or enslaved over in the sandpit.
The Khmer Rouge were a straight-up product of Maoist expansionism by proxy. Interestingly, they WERE harboured in a remote region INSIDE Viet Nam, being “fraternal revolutionaries. The Viets “helped” them but as the “Dragon” of China started reeling in political debts”, Hanoi pivoted to the Soviets in a major way. This was not exactly well received by Beijing, given how much material (and human) assistance they had poured into the north.
Remember that Pnom Penh fell BEFORE Saigon; probably because the KR didn’t even try to run a “hearts and minds” campaign like the NVA / Viet Cong.
Interesting “side-show is the huge airfield built in northern Cambodia. Never used in operation (the KR had no air-force as such), it was engineered by the Chinese, but much of the labour was of the slave variety, mostly ex Lon Nol Military prisoners; pretty much the entire surviving officer corps. They never went home because they are buried under the metres-thick concrete of that airstrip.
The KR were out and out racial / ethnic supremacists as well as the purest communists seen, so far, on the planet. Within a couple of years they had hounded and evicted a major proportion of the ethnic Viets in the country and, by the late 70’s had started raiding across the border with their alleged fraternal socialist Viet cousins.
Eventually the latter decided that was not a good thing. They emptied out the warehouses of goodies captured in the fall of the south. They also “released” a lot of ex-ARVN troops from “re-education” to operate it, mounted up and headed west. With all the US-supplied uniforms, weapons and other equipment, It looked like the South had risen, again.
It did not take long for the mas graves and torture centres to turn up during their advance. If you have seen the movie, “The Killing fields”, you will have seen a sanitized, Hollywood-esque version of the horror. The Chinese reaction to this Viet affront was to launch a large armoured strike into Northern Viet Nam in 1979. They forgot that they were attacking a country that had been at continuous war for a LONG time and had some serious experience with the toys at their disposal and a very hard core of seasoned troops to fight on their own turf. Over a decade later, the shot-out and steadily scavenged carcasses of dead Chinese armoured vehicles could be seen in odd places across the North.
I did not get to Cambodia until 1990, when the place first started to receive small group of western tourists and tiny numbers of TV / docco crews. The KR was by then basically a bunch of heavily armed bandits, kidnapping and murdering for fun and profit. They were mainly confined to a series of “pockets” in the south -west, venturing out to attack road and rail transport and issue ludicrous battle reports from their surviving mobile radio station. As one would expect, most of the LSM got their “Cambodian News” by lounging around the pool in Bangkok whilst listening to “Radio KR”.
