    1. It makes one wonder if Prinz Dummkopf has something similar at each of his “cottages”. Nah–he’s suffering along with us because he’s a man of the people, right? (Uh-huh…..)

  1. So I keep seeing stories about how the coronavirus seems to kill proportionately more minorities. And so any measure not taken to fight the virus by a Republican is evidence of racism. Of course there was no outcry when it became obvious earlier that it disproportionately takes out men. Imagine if instead it took out two women for every man. We’d never get out of shutdown.

    1. The Coronavirus death rate for NYC and its neighboring five counties (essentially suburbs for NYC) is 127 per 100K as of 4/20.
The death rate for the rest of the country is 7 per 100K.
Whom do you think history is going to judge very harshly, President Trump or mayor Cuomo?

      1. That is mayor de Blasio of course, even though governor Cuomo would share the blame.

        1. Governor Andy (Cuomo) threatened to replace the entire elected, and highly incompetent, City of Rochester school board. If Governor Andy has the power to oust elected officials, he surely has the power to oust the incompetent, and highly dangerous, de Blasio.

      2. My local CHICOM-19 update:

        https://patch.com/california/lamorinda/2-new-coronavirus-deaths-reported-contra-costa-monday?utm_term=article-slot-1&utm_source=newsletter-daily&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=newsletter

18 cases total in my City of 50k people … a rate of 0003.6
22 total deaths in my County of 1.4M people … a rate of 00001.6
35 current CHICOM hospitalizations in my County of 1.4M people … 35.

For reference purposes: John Muir Hospital has 554 beds in their Walnut Creek Hospital and another 244 beds in their Concord Hospital for a total of 798 beds. Kaiser has Hospitals in Walnut Creek 233 beds, and the County Hospital in Martinez has another147 beds. That’s a partial list of 1,178 beds. With God knows how much excess EMERGENCY overflow.

By my calculation … that’s 35 CHICOM-19 patients and 1,143 empty beds. Good thing we aren’t doing any elective surgeries.

Uh … yeah … CHICOM-19 is the biggest HOAX ever on the human race … since “Global Warming”

        1. So are the numbers in your city going up or down? If they are going up, is the count accelerating? How long since the first hospitalization? At this point from the first hospitalization, is your hospitalization rate better or worse then the national average? Are there indications the spread has stopped in your city? If infections continue to grow at the same rate as other affected cities of similar demographics and population density, how long before the 1,178 beds are filled? How much extra capacity is reasonable?

And if it’s a hoax, are you implying the 24 thousand dead Americans are not dead?

  2. West Texas Intermediate crude oil is up over USD 40.
It’s now just under $2 a barrel after trading below negative $40 yesterday.
    https://futures.tradingcharts.com/intraday/CO/50
Don’t be reminding me that I’m always saying a bushel of wheat and a barrel of oil should be the same price like they were in the early 70’s.

    1. Walter F – “…the chief executive of Enbridge said oil producers in Western Canada could shut down as much as 20-25 percent of production in response to the price slide, … A cut of 20-25 percent translates into 1.1-1.7 million bpd…135,000 bpd of this has already been cut…as of April 7… total production cuts in the oil sands…could rise further to 1.5 million bpd.”

      1. The Petro Dollar deal Nixon made when he took the dollar off the gold standard finally died.
The Russians, the Chinese and Saudi Arabia have been undermining this arrangement for some years now. The Petro Dollar Deal essentially pegged the dollar to oil. This has gone bye, bye.
Great instability will ensue. The Trillions of dollars printed during the Petro Dollar phase which allowed the US Dollar to become the world’s reserve currency has ended. Now the US economy will have to absorb Trillions in worthless US dollars as they are returned.

Invest in wheel barrows. You will need them to haul dollars down to the store to buy bread. Canada will collapse because we have done the same.
Profligate money printing and borrowing for useless Liberal programs.
The Canadian Dollar has become a Petro Dollar as well over time. The Alberta economy has paid the bills for the welfare state in Canada for many years. That has ended.
The fight over the scraps is underway. I don’t think Alberta will be able to continue paying their Colonial Masters in Ottawa and the Equalization Tax Scam.
Now it will be up to Quebec and Ontario to continue their Marxist Wet Dream. Welcome to Venezuela North Boys and Girls.
        May the best dog win.

        1. The Petro Dollar deal never worked. Nixon implemented it after dropping the gold standard…still got devaluation and inflation. The ’70s sucked.

The USD was saved by 1) Volker and 2) Reagan, who put the USD pack on the gold standard. This arrangement was ended by Boosh in 2000. That’s why the price of oil kept going up along with the price of everything. If not for USD deval, there would hardly even be a domestic oil industry.

” I’m always saying a bushel of wheat and a barrel of oil should be the same price like they were in the early 70’s.”

Why the hell should that be the case? It should get lower and lower with a stable currency regime.

          1. The Carter years were the WORST … my 16.9% Mortgage certified it. Worst vote I ever cast in my life. The last IDIOT (D) vote too.

          2. UnMe(dicated) – Regan put the US back on the gold standard??? That’s a new one on me. He wanted to. Petrodollar is simply pricing oil in US currency. It stays in US dollars as long as it takes a keystroke to turn it into something else.

          3. Yes Reagan put the US back on the gold standard. This was his most important economic reform: https://finance.townhall.com/columnists/johntamny/2018/09/17/despite-what-reaganites-tell-you-paul-volcker-didnt-spark-the-reagan-boom-n2519772

The primary controller of the dollar’s value is not the fed, it’s the treasury and the president controls the treasury.

” Petrodollar is simply pricing oil in US currency.”

Meaningless. Yeah, it’s priced in USD. If those dollars are devalued, the price increases.

          4. “The Carter years were the WORST … my 16.9% Mortgage certified it. Worst vote I ever cast in my life. The last IDIOT (D) vote too.”

Carter was bad but he was merely continuing Nixon’s weak dollar policy, which is the reason for the high mortgage rate. To Carter’s credit, he deregulated air lines and beer.

    2. Every article I have seen lately blamed negative oil price on the lack of storage.
I grew up in the oilfield and spent my life working in it; land, offshore Texas, Louisiana, Dubai and California.
Every where I went the wellheads had valves on them.
The oil doesn’t care if it’s in the ground where it’s been for 70 million years give or take or if it’s in a tank at Cushing.
Just fill all the surface, underground and tanker reserves and shut the wellheads in. We’ve done it many, many times before,
I’d still rather keep my money in real, usable energy than anything else.

    1. Yes it says exactly what I have been saying. I played around with the NYT model and quickly realized that Ro was the critical thing and we had no idea what it was. None of the other factors really mattered.

The politicians and bureaucrats will eventually claim that, because the danger has passed, they obviously did the right thing in destroying the economy. Perhaps mandating mask wearing in public was all that was necessary, or maybe not even that. Until we have done much greater testing, we will not know the answer.

  3. Now that Great Leader with the help of his Bloc and NDP friends have shut down parliament, our glorious leader can get on with the job of being a kind and gentle dictator. After all, he stated yesterday that questions from his loyal media are enough for the peasants. Canadians are racist bastards anyway. Praise Great Leader Kim Sung Trudeau!!!

  4. True North website reports on how a CBC journalist reacted to Scheer not supporting Blackie, by asking “What’s Your Problem?” And True North reports on how left wing groups are calling for violence against the police and prison guards during this China virus crisis.

    1. An interesting portrait of Trudeau that conflicts with the persona crafted by the Canadian media. Turnbull’s account rings true. Sadly, it won’t get much profile in the Canadian media, other than the Post.

        1. Or, in German, “Er wirklich hat ein Linksgewickel.” (He really has a left-handed wrap.)

  5. Hot mic catches John Robert’s from Fox News talking with a couple reporters before White House press briefing.

“USC and LA county public health did a study and found 7,000 people infected in California but belive there are 221,000 to 442,000 people who caught Covid 19.”
“Which means case fatality rate is 1/10 of what’s being reported.”
“Puts it right in line with the flu”

  6. Yesterdays Nova Scotia shooter breifing followed by a Q&A
“Lame duck” Lucki defers answering the question on the shooter having a firearms Licence by looking to Bill Blair at the 22:50 mark.

    1. Blackie is already on the record promising more gun bans as son as Wuhan Flu is over. Elections have consequences. Get ready to kiss your semi autos goodbye.

  7. Oh Noooo! National Post reports that the former prime minister called Great Leader Kim Sung Trudeau flaky. And Justin was more interested in talking about his socks at an important meeting. We must declare war against Australia. After all, we have their old jets to fight with.

  8. A tidbit from yesterday. The Hon. Bill Blair was giving a presser of the Nova Scotia murders. During the Q/A the CBC’s Michael Sarapio as a question, recognizable from his homosexual voice: “Shouldn’t the federal government follow the New Zealand example and ban handguns for good?”.

A good, left-wing softball question for thr Hon. One to answer.Blair lapped it up, of course, blathering unintelligibly about the need for stronger gun control laws, etc. A good exchange showing our vaunted Ottawa press gallery at work.

    1. D M, “a government that does not trust it’s citizens to be armed is not itself to be trusted”. Guess who the quote is from. It wasn’t Bill Blair. Bill Blair has proven to be quite the fascist after getting to the federal level.

        1. A government which does not trust its citizens to be armed is not itself to be trusted. – Niccolò Machiavelli

          1. Ding, ding, ding, correct. You get the prize of the day, a free stay at home courtesy of the government.

          2. OWG I’ve been managing to avoid that prize.
Reduced hours, but still well over the limits set to claim anything. No business account at the bank so don’t get the loan for my small business (Contractor).
My essential service department looks like it may be back up to full time next week.

Like mentioned on another thread, we just get to pay for it.

    2. The fact that this nut-job had an illegal or legally possessed weapon is of little to no bearing. Handgun, rifle, whatever.
What made him so “successful” might have been all the other factors:
      1.A fake cop uniform.
      2.A fake cop car.
3.What so far appears to be an uncoordinated, ineffectual and possibly grossly incompetent police response by the RCMP.
      4.No emergency broadcast.
5.An unarmed, unaware citizenry reliant on #3 to protect them.
6.People like Bill Blair who lie every time they open their cakehole giving #5 a false sense of security.

      1. Buddy, I am interested about the PAL or RPAL. Why would Blair deflect answering a simple yes or no to the question?
Brenda Lucki gave simple yes or no answers for most of the Q&A. Why defer to Blowhard Blair?
It has more to do with the Liberal Party and the medias narrative going forward.
How does gun control work in a terrorist situation, with gangs or in Chicago.??

The NS shooters acts show how a how a premeditated rampage is indefensible with RCMP training and technology. Emergency vehicles including RCMP have GPS locators and the ability to have the vehicles locations layered on a map and track the general direction of a crime spree. If an emergency vehicle drives past you without GPS tracking one would think they would have trained in that aspect to defend against terrorism…
The first correct response by government should be granting Canadians a castle law allowing the use of firearms in self defense without retribution as a potential deterrent.
Its absolutely inexcusable the RCMP didnt issue an emergency broadcast and chose to use TWITTER instead.

      2. Buddy.

Lets not forget that he was known to Police and NS Judiciary since 2002….on numerous charges of Assault, Weapons, Explosives etc.
I think the biggest contributing factor is:
LIBERAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE Philosophy – Mentality

Gutless when it comes to criminals…one need not wonder why – LIBERALS are the epitome of “CRIMINAL”.

    3. I have to correct an error in my own post! Quoting Mr. Sarapio, from memory a day later, I wrote that he said that New Zealand “banned handguns”. Not true, he said something to the effect like “much stricter gun controls”.

The major thing New Zealand did — after their mass murder incident — was to make firearms harder to get and keep. I.e., the government leaves it up to each police force to use its own discretion whether or not to grant a gun applicant permission to have an owner’s certificate. Hunters, target shooters, collectors all have the right to own firearms, but they have to legally prove that they pursue these activities, and even then the police can refuse a permit.

The new NZ law also stipulates that people cannot own a gun for self-defence, and that guns cannot be used for self defence. Guns can only be used for the above activities. This is what the CBC’s Michael Sarapio wants, and what Trudeau may be contemplating.

      1. And the self-defence governments hate the most is the defence of individual liberty from government’s unnatural intrusions.

  9. Its obvious that those that think the airhead in Ottawa is a flake are not alone. Many of the heads of states are thinking the same.
What a bloody embarrassment for Canada.
And worse, they will vote for him again since there is no credible alternative.

“Worried about offending Trump, ‘flaky’ Trudeau ‘humiliated’ fellow leaders during TPP trade talks: former Aussie PM”

    https://nationalpost.com/news/politics/worried-about-offending-trump-flaky-trudeau-humiliated-fellow-leaders-during-tpp-trade-talks-former-aussie-pm

    1. That is why I will continue to spoil my future ballots by writing “Wexit Now!” on them.
There is a choice for Alberta and Saskatchewan.

      1. I support Wexit, and both provincial and federal Wexit parties now exist across Western Csnsda. So why spoil your ballot? Why not support your local Wexit party? They need help to succeed.

    2. Small quibble, as disappointing as Scheer & brain trust have been, Trudeau is in a league of his own.

Worst PM in Canadian history, causing more permanent damage than any other I can think of, including Trudreau the elder.

      1. I can’t help but wonder how Harper would have handled the virus outbreak. I believe we would have been in much better hands. Harper was always, careful, thoughtful and well informed and Canada was a much better place to live under his watch — that is of course, before we were “post-national”.

        1. Yep, what might’ve been…
But too many Canadians felt it was time to roll the dice, what could go wrong?
          Hubris delivers brutal lessons

          1. “Hubris delivers brutal lessons”

Not saying you or Linda are wrong but the one who quote applies to most is Harper. A politician with any decent acumen would have started grooming a successor after the 2011 victory and let him/her take power in 2013 or so. Instead Harper went nuts with 100 dollar oil, bought beyond parody anti-MJ ads with taxpayer money, and ran the worst election campaign ever. He lost for a reason, or two.

          2. And the vast majority of the people ho voted for him have their heads stuck so far up their asses that they think he is doing a wonderful job and would vote for him again. We are going to go through a lot of pain before they smarten up. I suspect they never will. This is how civilization dies.

    3. And worse, they will vote for him again since there is no credible alternative.

No. Canadians will continue voting for Prinz Dummkopf because he’s a Trudeau and voting for a Trudeau is what Canadians do. They kept voting in his official father even when there was a credible alternative in the form of Bob Stanfield.

  10. Handguns have been under strict rules since the 30’s The truth is most handgun crimes come from the ungrateful people we have allowed into the country recently.

      1. The black market that is operated by gangs who happen to be Asian, Caribbean and Mediterranean.

        1. Pfft someone’s never heard of the Hell’s Angels.

Not that it matters who ‘operates’ the black market. They exist, so people are going to make money off them.

        1. I would not be surprised if enterprising immigrants took the initiative to make money in Canada’s black markets. Once again, immigrants do the jobs native born Canadians won’t.

Hey if you actually wanted to end the problems, you’d advocate legalizing these illegal substances. But you don’t. You and the other racists want another reason to scapegoat brown people. There’s a very good reason you keep losing.

          1. Who is this “we” you keep speaking of? There is no we. If I need foreign workers, that’s my business. It’s not my obligation to employ my countrymen.

  11. Well you can keep writing the sonnet, and the program a computer Mr. Heinlein…..“A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.”

    ― Robert A. Heinlein,

    1. Why would they spend money on national defence when they are busy selling our country to our enemies and letting them colonize us? Why waste the money? Canada doesn’t exist anymore. The way we are now how would you even know if we were at war with an “enemy”? What would that even look like and how would it change your life compared to what your “own government” has planned for you?

  12. Trudeau studying his socks, kind of like Nero playing his fiddle while Rome is burning. Gold projected to hit 3000/oz. with 30-40% drop in US GDP this year. Do you really think that things are going to turn around in Canada? Used to be an old saying, when the USA gets a sniffle Canada gets Pneumonia. I think we are going to find out again what it is like to eat potato’s 3 times a day. Even the moldy ones from the root cellar. https://www.zerohedge.com/commodities/fed-cant-print-gold-bofa-calls-gold-ultimate-store-value-raises-price-target-3000

  13. Uh oh

A number of sailors tested positive for the novel corona virus even after their 14 day isolation period.

    https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.politico.com/amp/news/2020/04/21/navy-extends-isolation-for-uss-theodore-roosevelt-sailors-may-delay-ship-departure-198081

This led the Navy to “reevaluate our assessment of how long the virus can remain active in an a symptomatic host.”

My note: the above might be true, or the sailors’ isolation wasn’t as effective as the Navy thought it was.

    1. This doesn’t necessarily mean they are still shedding active virus. qPCR will pick up genomic fragments and virus that is inactivated, either by nAb binding or some chemical change.

  14. This drone video is absolutely amazing! Hands down the most captivating drone footage I’ve seen.

An incredible display of both American and Chinese aero technology…. and a very skilled drone pilot.

I searched for on topic comments but it seems like the commenters were more concerned with off topic comments … stoking the fires of the escalating cold civil war. Joe’s CNNDemocrats vs Donnie’s FoxRepublicans. Equally idiotic…. what do you call it when you only have two choices, both of which lead to ruin?

…. and Rome continues to burn

    1. I agree…
Wow! Nice planes. Had no idea that there was a National Museum of the U.S. Airforce. Only in America. Amazing work from the drone navigator too! I really enjoyed that video and the music.

      Thanks SDA

    2. I agree completely about the drone footage. Some of the best I’ve seen as well.
I totally disagree with your off topic comments equating Democrats and Republicans.
In case you haven’t noticed, Trump and Trump voters (Republican, Democrat and Independent) don’t much trust Fox news since the new kids hired Paul Ryan, Donna (give the debate questions to Hillary) and rest of the leftist riff raff which most of the people on this blog are aware of from their own videos and articles.

      1. Yes, I watch FNC’s Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Judge Jeannine, Greg Gutfeld, Jessie Watters to name a few. Some of the others in the daytime are too ‘Democrat’ for my liking. I guess the channel wants to be ‘fair and balanced’.

(Carson Wells snuck that comment in there — wondering why, an odd thing)

  15. Clifton Mark writes about political theory, psychology, and other lifestyle-related topics. He lives in Toronto, Ontario.
And meritocracy lives nowhere near political theory, psychology or other related lifestyle-related topics, maybe parts of Toronto, Ontario, but not the part Cliffy’s head is in.
Unclear on the concept? In the first paragraph; “The most common metaphor is the ‘even playing field’ upon which players can rise to the position that fits their merit.”

    paging Dr. Peterson

  16. I’d us smaller easier words if I could, but I can’t, but to respond to this and your comment above, I can accept that there is no “we”, but if there is no “we”, we don’t need a government. And if there is no “we”, you mean no more to me than a rat in a garbage can, so there is no reason to not club you to death is there?
