The federal government is considering introducing legislation to make it an offence to knowingly spread misinformation that could harm people, says Privy Council President Dominic LeBlanc.
LeBlanc told CBC News he is interested in British MP Damian Collins’s call for laws to punish those responsible for spreading dangerous misinformation online about the COVID-19 pandemic.
LeBlanc said he has discussed the matter already with other cabinet ministers, including Justice Minister David Lametti. If the government decides to follow through, he said, it could take a while to draft legislation.

Using that logic we can get rid of the courts altogether. We can just let the police punish or execute people at their discretion.
That is why I consider it my duty as a citizen to plead not guilty and force the crown to prove it’s case. Sometimes I make a fool of myself but armed with bullshit, sometimes I win. In Alberta it is especially joyful to plead not guilty to local bylaw offenses because the provincial prosecutors won’t handle the cases and the municipalities have to hire a lawyer, although most bigger cities likely have their own staff prosecutors.
Given the revolving door justice system in my province where if you are of certain colonialized peoples the police arrest you only to have the courts release you the next day in order to acknowledge intergenerational trauma incurred on you, I think it would be a good thing to leave police in charge for a while.

As of today, the Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff has backed off previous claims and will only say that it’s “inconclusive” whether the virus came from a lab.

….. the paper erroneously stated the corona virus worldwide death toll. The world wide number of the cases is nearing 2 million; the worldwide death toll is approximately 120,000.
In the original article it stated that ….. the worldwide death toll surpassed 2 million on Monday.
I tried to watch free-whatever her name is. No luck. I do not suffer fools nor do I listen to snake oil salespeople. You folks are in some serious trouble. Your rights, whether to question your betters or to freely avail yourself of free speech are looking shaky. We south of the line are certainly not perfect, but if you want, come on down.
