    1. Sad day, Rest easy John
John said best as to where he would be in his classic Paradise. The quintessential environmental song ever written

I’ll be halfway to Heaven with Paradise waitin’
Just five miles away from wherever I am

    1. I saw him live (and I can’t remember, I think with Steve Goodwin) in Saskatoon 1979/80 at U of Saskatoon..I think. Small crowd, great show. I still remember the words to some of those tunes: “Oh please don’t bury me down in that cold cold ground, I’d rather have them cut me up and pass me all around….” Funny the things you remember. Just John, a guitar and a chair.

  1. John Prine gone at 73. That’s too young and I’m feeling sorry, especially for myself, because John’s humorous easy going style won’t be around. His recordings will have to do….

  2. In 1966, I went to a used car dealer and bought a 1954 Ford sedan without telling my Dad, who was a Chevrolet mechanic at the time. When I got home with it, he looked at me and said, ”I hope he [dealer] threw in a jar of Vaseline with the deal, because by looks of this thing, you’re going to need it. ” Dad, who lived and breathed Chevys, was right.

Here’s another instance where we the taxpayers will be needing Vaseline.

Notice comments are closed, so we won’t really know what the readers were thinking, now will we??

    1. **The survey was conducted by Nanos Research for FRIENDS of Canadian Broadcasting, a non-partisan media watchdog, and was released Monday.**

For a “non-partisan media watchdog” they sure picked a hell of a name.

      1. I believe that Nanos is also a bunch of Liberal hacks. Remember what Mark Twain said about statistics.

        1. Correct, Nanos is a liberal as they come. I have found that there is no such thing as a non-partisan anything. We all have biases.

          1. I would say that they are as partial as the Media they cover.

      2. The FCB is a well-funded,leftist lobby group organized to lobby for more taxpayer dollars for the CBC. Some of its senior people were CBC execs.

    2. I bet most Canadians support huge fines to people who walk their dog in a park or congregate while also supporting the right of ecofascists to close rail lines and city streets with Zero consequences.
Snitch lines are, no doubt, quite active.
Because behind the back of every socialist is an iron fist ready to smash your freedom as soon as you don’t toe their line.

    3. The e-paper comments were none too flattering. I don’t believe anyone up-voted it either. I also added the joke from Global/UNIFOR last fall about Canadians trusting the MSM news.

      1. Slightly off-topic, but yesterday I received a leaflet in my mailbox from Unifor, requesting/demanding that we all contact our MLA’s here in Saskatchewan and “demand” that they force the Federated Co-op Refinery to end the lock out of the workers.
If memory serves me correctly, it was the union who went on strike first at the end of November and then the Co-op locked them out.
I put the leaflet into the recycle bin. I have no use for those over-paid whiners, who had a very sweet deal but were complaining of contributing 49% to their retirement funds. I and many of my friends were/are self-employed. Not only do we have to fully fund our retirements, but we had to pay double (employer and employee) contributions to CPP. When I gave birth in 1990, there was no maternity leave and when my business hit the toilet later that year, there was no EI because I was self-employed. Thank goodness I had saved money during the good times, did not lose the house, vacationed quite a bit in the backyard or at the playground at the end of the street.

    4. Classic BULLSHIT poll taken most likely in Toronto ONLY amongst many who literally owe their lives to the LIBS. That comments are closed cements my thoughts. The Post knows damned well what the readers would have said.

      Fk your POLL

  3. Watched Jason Kenny talk about viruses, unemployment, deficits, and buffalo. At the end of the folksy Manning anecdote, I thought couple of things.
    – The have-nots have a new member. (Quebec is screwed… equalization formula gets reworked in 3..2..1).
    – Is he using a social credit bison story to telegraph a sales tax?

    1. They dont need to rework equalization, they have Wuhan Flu to blame for having to juice the economy.
Trudeau is living his wildest fiscal wet dream. Instead of the Alberta oil economy collapse leading to the same happening to equalization Turdough and Butts get to pick the winners and losers. While screwing Alberta and Saskatchewan harder in the process…
He can point to the equalization framework he rammed through for 5 years without negotiations and say Ok Alberta, instead of getting money this year we will write off the 12 Billion you owe and pay Quebec directly.

    1. Makes a person wonder if the NHS has set protocol for experimental treatment only in cases where a patient is admitted to the ICU.

Almost makes me want to get some tin foil and tape.

    2. My first thought — the freezer container put it right down to -34oC. But no, this is good news, pills or just blood transfusion.

    3. Great news indeed.

When I booted up this AM, a search for an update on his condition was one of my first actions. The hate-filled left must be soooo disappointed.

  4. https://accordingtohoyt.com/2020/04/06/a-plague-of-madness/

“I have people reporting spouses (almost always women, because were more susceptible to mass behavior. It’s just part of how we’re wired) so terrified that they refuse to leave a room in the house, demand everything sterilized and won’t let the kids play outside because the virus might get them. This is not rational behavior. It’s hysteria.”

I can attest to this. I am a father of three very rational and smart girls who grew up to be very smart women. I married a pretty smart woman. I am a lucky man. And 2 of my children are very fearful of this virus, and my wife is too. All of my children have children of their own. I understand that they have fears about this virus. But it angers me, the way the media has pushed this into hyperdrive. The daily, no, hourly numbers updates. The death rolls, the cases, the recoveries. “The next 2 weeks will be crucial” I heard that a few weeks ago, and a week ago, and I’ll hear it again tomorrow. This does no one’s mental health any good. The media doesn’t have the decency to tell people that “they don’t know”, nor do they have the decency to bring on “experts” who will try and calm fears of the general population. No, their “experts” quote the worst case scenarios that their computer models can generate.

Anyway, I found i the article worth my time. Others may not.

  5. I don’t watch Turdo ever, but I just decided to see if he really had something useful to say and this is so pathetically sad from the leader of a country that I decided to share it even tho’ there isn’t one person who will listen to him. But, you really should – just once. Stop making fun of Scheer! Compared to JT, he’s a giant of a man.

    1. “speaking moistly”… what a dumb shit… an unserious man for an unserious country.

      1. Ya beat me to it SEAN..!!
Unfkn REAL. “speaking moistly” on par with “water Box thingys”.
WOW. THE STUPID Totally owns this Useless Cowardly slab of meat.

And to date, spouting WHO Bullshit on masks…

A Gallows date….that’s all Im waiting for.

        1. In high school, way back during the 1960s, we had a saying: “Say it; don’t spray it!”

    2. Same old BS. Notice how, as there’s nothing else to be done, government doesn’t do anything else. Working at the speed of government.

    3. This shows how stunned and simple Trudeau and Tran are “wearing a mask won’t help you but will help those around you ‘ Well you phucking liberal twits if I’m one of those around you then it helps me.This twit needs mental help and quick

  6. I listened to part of Kenney’s speech last night. Never heard a political speak and sound more serious.

Grave concerns and consequences ahead for Alberta and Canada. 25% unemployment, oil @$3. These are depression era numbers.

No provincial government has the capacity to do deal with numbers like that. It’s not just Alberta that is at risk, the entire way of life and experiment that is Canada is on the table.

Batten down the hatch girls we’re in for one helluva ride

    1. Kenney is currently the most dangerous non-head of state politician in at least North America. His advocacy of oil tariffs and a new cartel by itself makes him more dangerous than Rachel ever was. This is the kind of thing that caused the Great Depression.

  7. Great Leader said to not speak moistly. I’m confused, is that some sort of gay thing. And while Big Chief Gay Eagle With No Balls pumps extra money to indians, indians are taking the Trans Mountain pipeline to the Supreme Court and other indians are taking the gas pipeline in B.C. to court.

  8. CP24 reports this morning that Toronto will be sending the sixty thousand defective masks back to CHINA. Meanwhile all of Blackie’s media is celebrating China’s victory over the virus in Wuhan. China is wonderful.

    1. Hay, I watch CP24 all the time.
Although I have to admit I get it mixed up some times with its sister city, Chicago, in the US.
Hard to tell which one it is reporting all the shootings every day.
Funny, that ‘sister city’ thingy isn’t mentioned any more by Toronto.
      heh

  9. I must say, readers tips often is headlined by a death; a bit depressing. How about someone’s birth?

    1. Dying is a part of living that we will all come to at some point. Noting deaths is appropriate I think.
Some of Mark Steyn’s best writing are his tributes to those who have ‘shuffled off this mortal coil’
And further to paraphrase George Carlin, ‘It’s always a relief when the eulogy you’re hearing is not your own’

  10. The very existence of the People’s Republic of China is humanity’s greatest existential threat. It is a country of filth, lies, and genocide.

  11. Canadians fully support the fine job PM Trudeau is doing during this crisis.

    https://globalnews.ca/news/6792350/coronavirus-poll-prime-minster-premier-approvals/

And this is in spite of the fact that he has been wrong from the start.
He would not close borders to China and Iran even though the first 12 cases in Canada involved TRAVELERS with 9 from China and 3 from Iran.
The Open Borders fiasco also showed up in recent numbers from Ont where only 23% of the cases were community based which meant that 77% were TRAVELERS based.

Here’s the ironic stat from Quebec where 54% support the PM.
Quebec is the hardest hit province with 1094 cases per mil of population whereas the other provinces are all around 400 or less.
I wonder how many of their cases are traveler based?

As Diefenbaker once remarked ‘polls are for dogs’.
And that is why most of them stink.

    1. I don’t think most people have any idea if he has been doing the right things, but thinking he is doing the right thing makes them feel safe. This is about human psychology, not government policy or Trudeau, our “leader”.

  12. The bongs approval is through the roof. The libranos are well aware of this trend and will be anxious to take advantage of it.

I expect that if this continues they will manufacture a scenario that brings about the fall of the government and call an election – ‘to have a majority during these grave times’.

Suspending the CPC leadership contest was a mistake IMO. The conservatives are vulnerable.

I don’t care one wit what anybody thinks about the CPC They are the only ones who are an alternative to the libranos.

    1. The CPC should cancel the convention entirely and choose the leader by caucus vote. Just put O’Toole in already.

    2. Blackie the Pole Smoker is doing what his father did. Pierre the Weirdo had a minority in his 2nd term so he spent like a drunken sailor and yup, then got a majority.
The Libs will never be out of power again. The MSM, the Teachers and the Universities and the Unions won’t let anyone else rule.

  13. The Piper is Playing.

Two unemployed part-time workers I know got their money today and they got as much as the unemployed fulltime worker I know.
It must all be declared as taxable income this time next year.
What I want to know is what do the people still working get?
How come those still employed don’t get any money?
Even if I get taxed at 50% its still more money for me. (I could put it into my RRSP as I have contribution space.)
I’m kidding but there is a point to be made that it should be a loan, even interest free, and not a gift basket.

Of course this time next year, when people are made to Pay the Piper, we’ll see WTF is up, down and gone.

    1. I’ve been approved for a sizeable RRSP loan that is less than 3% but I have to pay it back in 12 months.
Meanwhile the government is giving people cash they didn’t earn – yeah I know its not their fault – and they don’t have to pay it back, just a portion in taxes. I bet a lot of people won’t even pay the taxes.
      And then they’ll vote Liberal.

  14. Let Me See Your Papers!

    https://nationalpost.com/news/covid-19-civil-liberties-group-warns-of-unfair-and-arbitrary-law-enforcement-as-hefty-fines-across-canada-pile-up?video_autoplay=true

Officers ticketed another Ottawa man $2,000 for declining to identify himself.

Bylaw officers also threatened fines against Montreal woman Mélissa Leblanc for “disrespecting social distancing,” after a group of Leblanc’s friends wished her happy birthday by driving to her house and honking their car horns. Leblanc had watched the celebration through the window of her home, according to the La Presse report.

Vancouver had received 69 complaints on its 311 snitch line before the weekend.

Collectivism payments to people Not Working. Check!
    Tremendous unemployment. Check
Massive devaluation of dollar with expected hyperinflation to come. Check!
    Snitch Lines. Check!
    Banning of public association. Check.
Implementation of China-style social credit scores. Check.
Jack-booted fascists intimidating, threatening and issuing fines. Check.

    1. Snitch line??? Just like the lefties to go for a snitch line. They were the ones distorting the Harper help line for families into a “snitch line.” At the time I was appalled that anyone would think conservatives would go for a snitch on the neighbors policy. It was so insulting, but I see, as soon as the right occasion comes up, leftists are out there snitching. Quelle surprise! The leftists believe in heavy handed g9vefnment control, and that is what we are going to get in the new totalitarian Canada.

  15. The libranos have ordered the Health Minister into hiding. It’s their modus operandi. Disappear you when you FU.

After her incredibly stupid comments defending the chicoms Peking patti hagdu has gone to ground. Can’t be trusted. She might go off script…..

A coupla years ago she stood up in the HoC and told a story about some guy she knew named ‘Jack’ who had experienced certain difficulties. When pressed on who this Jack was it turned out….there was no Jack. She made the whole thing up.

da liddle thief was known for this same level of veracity. He once told a nose stretcher in the HoC about some homeless guy (Jacques) he claimed he knew. Said he talked to this guy all the time. Sure you did. He was probably stopping by the PMO and 24 Sussex. Turned out Jacques never existed.

My guess is Peking patti is going to take the high jump before this is over. Bongo will be forced to sacrifice somebody and she will go the way of Jody Wilson Raybould.

    1. Are catholics ready to lynch this moron?

The burning of heretics has gone out of fashion.

    2. He needs to come out of retirement, and he needs to declare the churches open for Easter. The Pope does not take orders from the government.

      1. “he needs to declare the churches open for Easter”

Not sure if culling the herd is what a pastor should be doing to his flock…

“The Pope does not take orders from the government.”

Yes he does. This isn’t 1600 anymore.

  16. Bolonsaro loosens gun laws in Brasil, crime rate drops 17%, 10,000 lives saved:

    http://jpfo.org/articles-2020/brazil-more-guns-less-crime.htm

“When translated to homicide rates, the rate dropped 17% in 2018, then 23% more in 2019. The population of Brazil in 2019 was 210 million. The rate of homicides per 100,000 was 19.83. That is less than 2/3 of the homicide rate in 2017, which was 30.8.
Brazil has not had a homicide rate this low since 1995, before the highly restrictive gun law of 1997 was passed.”

  17. And now a wrap up of today’s news. Trump is killing people all over the world. Trump is evil. Trump is picking on the misunderstood China World Health Organization and peace loving China. China is wonderful. Only China Joe Biden can save America. Indians need more money. We need more socialism. Blackie The China Man is wonderful. The Liberal Party is wonderful. Everyone in Canada loves Blackie The China Man. And Great Leader Blackie The China Man reminds all you filthy pigs to wash your hands and don’t speak moistly.

    1. ‘don’t speak moistly’
When Blackie, China’s man in Canada speaks, you get a sudden urge to spit so he may have a point after all.
