  1. 6.5 earthquake reported in south central ID, fairly widespread reports of shaking felt even into southern BC. News report says 5:52 MDT so 4:52 pm PDT. Epicentre about 100 miles north of Twin Falls or 200 miles west of Yellowstone.

  3. So far Canadian Media and Liberal pundits have said how much better things are in Canada than the USA with respect to the Wuhan virus. This is foolish. Quebec is now saying it could run out of key medical supplies for health care workers.

    It’s even more foolish as hundreds of thousands of Canadians are coming back from wintering in the US. How many cases will they bring? Expect to see big increases in Toronto and in Quebec cases. I hope that doesn’t happen, but in the mean time Canadian media and politicians should shut up about what is happening in the US.

    1. Our airports are wide open to people arriving from China, Iran, Italy, etc. Nothing was done to even slow the rate of incoming virus.

      No screening, no quarantine for them because it would be politically incorrect to tell non-white people what to do.

        The death toll is higher in the US, for example New York City than in Canada.

        Many Canadian media pundits are saying Trudeau’s response has been better than Trump’s.

        My point is it hasn’t. Canada has less population density than the US, and is colder. So I expect there have been fewer people outside in large groups. Hence lower exposure rates.

        Media reports, (can we trust them?) and Trump’s daily briefings show New York is the hardest hit area in the US. The anti-Trumpers are blaming this on Trump. I think the Democratic governor, NYC mayor, NYC officer of health and media, telling people to gather in large groups in early March are more responsible.

        All the snowbirds returning to Quebec and Ontario may cause a further increase in Wuhan increases in Canada. Maybe I am wrong.

        But politicians and media should not be saying Canada is handling it better than the US is. It’s far to early to tell

        1. Saw a video posted by “Blue Collar Logic” yesterday at http://www.iotwreport.com. It highlighted the fact that New York City is an extremely densely populated city compared to Los Angeles which has a similar sized population but LA has the space to sprawl. On another note, Italy and Spain are part of the PIIGS group and both their demographics skew much older.

          I left Toronto for many reasons back in 2002, but the major one was an article which stated that the Greater Toronto Area would be 10 million by 2010 (it was 9.8 million). I have always thought that if you put too many rats together, that they will start killing one another (either with guns, knives or with diseases).

            I also know people who are still in Florida and other places where Wuhan counts are rising. They hope to leave soon.

            Florida now has 6995 cases. How many snowbirds still have to come home? And how many cases will they bring.

        2. Voice and appearance may sound suspect, but the few and admittedly poor quality pictures of hands I could find on duckduckgo say no.

          When in doubt, check the hands, women have proportionally much longer index fingers than men, usually near the length of the middle and ring finger, while men tend to have much shorter index fingers. Not a foolproof method since it is all statistical and there will be rare exceptions, but surgeons don’t bother to change that detail.

    It seems like everything will be closed the whole month of April at the very least.
    The economic impact is being Way Underestimated by some including the markets.

    When (if) stuff starts opening up, people aren’t about to go on a trip or even be able to afford to, especially with spring here. And nobody’s coming to visit Canada.

  15. Like many people I am going walking for exercise. Yesterday I noticed an electric car plugged in at the local library/ community centre. I thought it funny since everything is closed. Then I looked more closely at the meter, and as far as I can tell, cars plugged in are getting free electricity. How is that justifiable? This is a city of Ottawa facility. Maybe I missed something.

  17. Good job SDA moderating my comments on how much BETTER canadas travel restrictions are compared to the USA.

    Nobody but Canadians are allowed in to Canada. The entire world is banned. USA is only restricting China, UK, Ireland, and the Schengen region (many EU countries). Everyone else is allowed in.

    USA asks everyone to isolate for 14 days on return. Canada does too, but with threat of a 750k fine and 6 months in jail if you violate it. USA has no fines.

    2. We’re in DAY #6 of isolation. When we crossed our land border crossing (March 28th) we were told we had to self isolate and that a fine of $1 million or 3 years in prison would be a possibility if we were caught outside the house. Also told there could be checks to ensure we were obeying. On our flight from Maui-Portland-Spokane we were never asked if we had any symptoms. At the border we were.

      My nephew is now in DAY #12 of self isolation. He returned from Japan on March 20th. Tokyo-Honolulu-Vancouver-Cranbrook. At none of these locations was he checked or asked about his health.

      Any suggestion that the federal government was on top of things early on is a absolute joke. Each day their message changes and they are not held to account. Hopefully at some point they will be but how many unnecessary deaths will it cost?

      1. No country has enacted flight restrictions. It is travel restrictions. Direct flights from China to the US kept going for weeks after Trump put on the travel restrictions. It had huge loopholes and still does.

        Therr are still flights from Barcelona, Madrid, Rome, Paris, London,Dublin to JFK every day.

  28. I must be forgiven for my skepticism:)….I don’t know even one person who has COVID19, but our area on Vancouver Island is shut down.
    Yesterday, my husband and I ventured out, to go to Canadian Tire because of several products that were on sale, as well as our feeling that we needed to bust out. Canadian Tire declared their washrooms out of bounds, because of the virus. I went to Home Depot, which had Kleenex and hand sanitizers available next to the restroom entrance. The washroom was pristine clean and the decor was lovely, I must add. The Home Depot staff could not have been more friendly. I told my husband that from now on, Home Depot is my favourite.

    At my house in B. C., I spoke with one of my neighbours. I recounted some of the encounters in Edmonton I had last week in which people disliked Prinz Dummkopf, but hated Trump more. This time, the objection this time was “he’s a fool”, but she didn’t elaborate beyond that, being incapable, it seemed, of defining what she found abhorrent. (If he’s a “fool”, how come he’s a billionaire and you’re not?)

    I doubt that she would ever look at websites such as SDA or Rebel News, so I’m not entirely surprised at her comments.

This means he will have to import large quantities from China which gave us the virus in the first place. But remember, Blackie is wonderful. In the U.S. CNN reports that Trump is Hitler, the White House is in chaos, millions will die because of Trump.

They own the World Health Organization and used it to cover up their duplicity and run interference for them.     They own the manufacturing of all the world’s essential medicinal ingredients, rare earth minerals, plastic (sterile) medical equipment. And the West has out-sourced a vast quantity of all other manufacturing to them. Entrepreneurs get it made in China at half the cost.

    We must tell Trudeau in no uncertain terms that it NOT acceptable for them to have control of our telecommunications. An uphill battle as Telus and the other Providers are already very heavily invested in Huawei (cheap) technology,

    China does not compete with the world on a fair stage. All major industry is owned by the communist party. So think about it this way. If the US gov’t owned Apple (Iphone) and a private corporation, responsible to shareholders, owns IBM or Android. which one can operate at a loss, has unlimited financial backing, unlimited advertising/propaganda, and can even pass advantageous laws?

    Similarly China has the resources of the whole country at it’s disposal while Western companies have to raise their own capital, do their own research (with or without gov’t grants), pay for manufacturing facilities and marketing etc. Then China steals the research.

    This has to stop. And it is imperative to stop Hauwei from infiltrating our 5G Network
